    Kung Pao Chicken
    Dean B.

Ok! I rate this as a 4 because of the food. My Kung Pao was not the best i have had but very good and made with chicken breast. The ambience was nice and the service was nice. I would love to give a 3. But i just feel this place is consistent. It could change the next time i go. They do not take AMEX

We also ordered dirty chicken wing, pork rice plate, and Thai tea (Forgot to take pictures) Spicy beef noodles was real good, but it was weird they put a pork piece in there, but highly recommended!! Pho was more on the sweet side, and the fries rice, it was so good, we can't stop eating it.

The service was aggressive. We barely sat down and were approached to order. Then every few minutes we were asked again if we are ready. The food was ok. It had a spice I couldn't recognize in the dish. It was a flavor I was familiar with not did I like. I'm sure to some it would be delicious however I did not find it pleasurable to my palate. The appetizers were ok but also had a spice I could not recognize. Not sure I will be rushing back.

Love love love this place! However I don't ever seem to have service lol I've been there a handful of times now, love the all pho special. Got a bahn mi sandwich, wings, spring rolls, crab rangoon, my boyfriend got the fried rice and we have never been disappointed! Highly recommend

Highly recommended these chicken wings with sweet and sour sauce.

It took me a long time to find a Vietnamese authentic retuarant at Des Moine. I finally found this restaurant. I love the sweet and sour chicken wings, pho deluxe, and other dishes. This restaurant did not fail my expectations and experience. Also, the service was great.

Atmosphere was nice and comfortable, food was good for the price as well. Everything you might need is already on the table. Waitress was very attentive and kind as well. Would come here again.

All phó you deluxe - beef bone and all

Oh YEAH! It was definitely All Phó Me and it was great! All phó you deluxe was awesome in flavor. That beef bone got a chuckle out of Mr W. Vegan pho was just as I expected if not more. I haven't had pho in years since eating vegan. House broth is made of beef broth. Vegan broth is from daikon radish, onions, and other vegetables. I appreciated that I was allowed to ask. The cook does not speak much English. And our server was not Vietnamese but she was able to ask. Crab rangoons were delectable and my favorite were those shrimp spring rolls! I really appreciated the spring rolls and the quality. Ingredients were fresh and complementary in every bite. I was completely impressed due to not having one this good in a long time. The way the veggies are placed were what impressed me. Not many places know how to make a correct spring roll. Bubble tea is not vegan friendly as it contains casinate in their non dairy creamer. I stayed with water. During COVID19 review: Positivity rate is high in Des Moines now so there are not many people dining in. Open seating the whole hour we were there. A handful of take out orders. Service was nice and efficient. Our server was masked. She was great. Other patrons picking up orders were masked. We spent $36.xx Overall it was delicious and I was completely impressed. Looking forward to coming back real soon.

It's now the prime time for patio season and this place does have a nice patio and even allows your family pet dog on the patio as well. When you first arrive you wouldn't think they have patio seating, but they do. It's in the back and you can request to seat there. They have large pound chairs and tables. And the atmosphere is cute and I could definitely see a first date feel here. Especially at night with their hanging lights. The only thing is that the chairs are too low to eat comfortably because the tables are so high. As for the food, it was okay. It is more on the sweeter side. And I would have to say it's more Laos/Philippino style than Vietnamese, since their phos and fish sauces tend to be on the sweeter than savory/slightly salty umami. The potions are big and definitely filling. We got the Spicy Beef noodle soup which was not spicy to our taste when it comes to Bun Bo Hue. So if you're a person that does not handle too spicy but a nice hint to it you would like it. The noodles were tender and clocked well and the meat was also nicely done too. The Spring bowl was good as well. The meat: shrimp, pork, egg rolls were cooked nicely and had a good char flavor to it. The egg rolls in it are veggie. My only flaw is that the fish sauce for the bowl was lack luster. It was sweet and did not have the spicy lime or umami taste to it. I think if they had a tray of fish sauce and lime on the table I would definitely add to it to not be so sweet. Overall, it was okay, I think with me being raised in a Vietnamese household I am more bias and prefer a savory fish taste to my Bun Bo Hue and Fish sauces it's a little more authentic. I feel it's more catered to the American pallet. But still okay, in terms of atmosphere, ambiance, and food.

Basil fried rice might just be the best fried rice I have had. The chili oil they also bring to the table is also delicious.

Biggest disappointment was that while alcohol options showed on the menu, they were unable to serve any alcohol - claiming that their liquor license had not yet been renewed. I was craving a spring roll with peanut sauce, so to start things off, we ordered #90 Bo Bia steamed spring rolls with shredded shrimp, carrots and sausage served with plum sauce (see picture). While the wrap was thicker than the 'paper' wraps that I'm used to, they were very good - and I really liked the plum sauce. My wife was undecided and our very helpful waiter Archie, suggested #69 Com Ga Chien Xa Ot (chicken breast fried with spicy lemon grass - see picture). It was good, but both of us would have preferred a bit more spice, as we ended up adding Siracha at the table. I was considering #99 Banh Xeo Vietnamese style crispy pancake stuffed with shrimp, pork & veggies based on the menu picture, but Archie talked me into #97 Banh Tam Bi Xiu Mai udon noodles with shredded pork, steamed pork meatballs and veggies instead (see picture). I was impressed with the coconut milk and lemon sauce that he poured over it when served with the instructions to stir it all together - very tasty combination of savory, sweet and tart, with a very slight spiciness. I knew we were in the right place when we walked I. And half of the restaurant were Vietnamese peeps. Was a warming experiencing hearing patrons throw a few traditional Lunar New Year greetings at each other and the owners. It's a small mom and pop shop, so much so, pop was the sole soldier working the entire front of the house. As such, don't expect super fast service, but good service nonetheless. We started with the fresh spring rolls, which were good, and their fried egg rolls, which I probably won't order again. The egg rolls were pretty much veggies, loosely filled, and served with a sweet and sour type dipping sauce. It was more of an Americanized Chinese style egg roll, not a Vietnamese cha gio with nouc cham. I ordered the pho dac biet and it was VERY good. The large is HUGE. Most places back home have suffered from shrink-flation and large bowls are tiny now. Not this place, I struggled to finish the bowl. My friends got the seafood pho, and another got the pho ga (chicken). I of course did not slide my chopsticks in theirs and swipe a bite, but they said they enjoyed theirs. I would definitely come back here again and maybe try some of their other dishes.
