Our first stop was the cemetery chapel for drinks. Volunteers mix them up and I will say they are generous pours. Next we stopped at the gift shop tent. Books, honey from the on premise hives and Christmas ornaments are part of the inventory. There's something cemetery themed for everyone. Our Stroll was led by a costumed guide. She introduced us to the various featured actors. Each actor then told their story. We learned a lot about local history and also took some fun photos. I highly recommend this Fall activity.

As a dress rehearsal to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, I decided to spend a few hours here. This cemetery, also is a dog park. Dogs running around leash free, but at least the owners were responsible. I took a pamphlet to help me find where the graves were. It helped me a little, but overall I struggled to read it. I also went here in the off-season which may not have helped my cause, but I am happy that I came and visited. The final resting places of John Philip Sousa, J. Edgar Hoover, Mathew Brady, and several members of Congress are buried here. Some former Presidents were buried here temporarily before being moved to other plots. The cenotaphs are pretty too, but a little eerie. I can see why this practice ended when it did. If you are looking for a cemetery without all the formalities of Arlington, this one is a good place to start.

More than a decade later, the website itself is showing its age; but the information is as radical, relevant, and fearless as ever. I have learned so much from CLR campaigns, especially when I first became interested in the issue and didn't know much about sweatshops, labor unions, or how almost all the clothes and shoes we wear are produced. (It's not pretty.) Give them your email address and drink in all the technical, fierce, and industry- and company-specific information they send you.

The main problems I've encountered: 1: Dry Cleaning is shared with the Customer Service counter, which means long lines of people buying lottery tickets, cigarettes and complaining about service. Expect to wait - EVERY time. 2: Very slow service. Don't be turned on by the "free if it isn't ready when we tell you" policy. This can only be offered because RUSH service means FIVE DAY service here. ALWAYS tell them you want it the first day possible, because... 3: They just ships all the stuff to a location in Alexandria. That means if there are any problems, they'll put you on a stored phone out to the headquarters. The headquarters DID call me back later in the evening after they tracked down the clothes they thought they lost. 4: Bait and Switch. Shirts are the only thing that are comparably cheap. Other places nearby cost the same or less, and get your stuff done more quickly. All this said, when I have time and want to save some money, I take advantage of the shirt special - but go elsewhere for any other type of cleaning (other clothing types and rush orders).

However, my shirts came back with tons of wrinkles, dirty collars, and 3 of 5 shirts came back covered in fuzz and lint. Save yourself the frustration by spending an extra $3 and going to a quality cleaner.
