We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

The owner KB bragged that his loads are always, "stacked high and tight!" I provided rope, tie downs, plastic wrap and blankets none of which he or his employee used. The 26 foot ABF trailer I rented has bars on both sides, every two feet to secure the load and he was obviously too lazy to utilize. When opening the trailer in Florida the entire load had shifted, every piece of furniture was scratched and/or broken, multiple boxes were overturned, and it took 5 hours to safely unload the trailer. The movers on this end said they had NEVER seen such a poorly packed trailer. I have contacted K&A Movers multiple times, sent photos of just some of my damaged goods and KB has refused to return my calls. So, after nearly a month of silence from this company, I have decided to involve MD consumer affairs and today am filing a complaint with the Maryland State Attorney General.

They even went above and beyond in disposing of an old piece of furniture that we ran out of room to store. I have also had past moves with them that were very short notice and small. Beds, sectionals, and other furniture that had to be broken down, was broken down by the movers and reassembled at the new location. Some things I didn't know could be broken down were also broken down and reassembled. Attentive and made sure furniture and items were placed where they belonged and oriented the way we wanted it...even if the wife was wrong about it the first time, they did not hesitate to get it the right way. Daniel sounds like a great guy at the beginning of the process, told me he would be on site at my home to ensure that all went well, and was a no-show. No follow-up from him - he didn't contact me to check on how things went. When I told him about the theft, his response was basically "that's terrible - let me know if I can do anything". Yes, Mr. Petra, you can reimburse me for having to purchase a new vehicle, and you can vette your employees to ensure that you aren't hiring criminals! Petra Moving Company should not be in business. Both moves were transfers within my apartment building. In response to my request to get the same team if possible, the new three-person team had the same foreman as the previous three-person team. They once again did an excellent job - called in advance, arrived early, and worked very quickly and efficiently. The foreman planned well which items should be moved between the two apartments in each trip to minimize the number of trips and the work time. The team members were both friendly and professional. As with my previous move, the cost of the job came in well under the estimate due to the team's speedy work. My two experiences with NewRay have been a refreshing contrast to my experiences with other movers over the years. I plan to continue to use them for any future moves.

Crdedit Card processing fee was in contract but could have been more clearly explained, would have paid cash if it was. Driver struggled with the final math, forgot to charge me for an hour of travel time and had to make an extra payment.
