I once listened to KJLH religiously. I admired the station for consistently speaking about giving…read moreback and supporting the community. However, when a community organization reaches out for support and cannot even receive a response or acknowledgment, that message begins to feel hollow. Over time, the station's community involvement has started to seem more transactional than genuine--as though support depends on who you know, what you can offer, or how much visibility is involved. That is deeply disappointing from a station that built its reputation on being the voice of the community. Sadly, I have changed the channel--except on Saturdays.

W when the owner said, I don't want your business. The guy apparently said oh you don't like Black people's business ... when the man has been serving the community faithfully for 30 some odd years We've seen at least one black person do that bs in our lives above the age of 30 However, her cohost said we should NOT be refusing to do business with those who voted for that white supremacist on Pennsylvania Ave I don't know what kind of sellout bull they are selling on KJLH but 1 in 5 black men voted FOR A WHITE SUPREMACIST. Are we waiting for it to be 9 out of 10? We absolutely refuse to do any freaking business with anybody who sang for the head MAGAt at his inauguration, went to shake his hand at the WH, does any kind of business with him And while I'm here, we ALSO shouldn't be supporting anybody who's a repeat offender woman beater because THEM HEAUX AIN'T LOYAL When Black black folks say --all your skinfolk, ain't your kinfolk-- don't let that apply to KJLH

I'm a big fan of NPR and its local stations, KCRW and KPCC, which are both in constant rotation in my car. I visited NPR West last month to record an interview for All Things Considered, which aired on October 30. My new book had just come out, and it was an absolute dream to talk to Ailsa Chang about it and hear the interview air on my commute a week later. A life experience I will never forget. The offices were cool, though most of my time was spent alone in a recording booth. It seems like someone on this page was disappointed there was nothing in place to cater to NPR fans and tourists, but that didn't surprise me. This seemed more like a place for L.A. area employees and guests, to facilitate programming from a hub in a large West Coast city. I had guest parking with my name on it in the lot, and I geekily took a picture that I will treasure for all time. It was an honor and a pleasure to visit NPR West. I'm a regular listener and supporter, and I'd be at least 10% stupider if it weren't for public radio.
