Our family works with 2 hygienists for cleanings, Viktoriya and Kelly, both are top notch and work with extreme attention to detail! I have recently completed phase 1 of a tooth implant process. It happens to be one of my very front teeth and you can imagine how vulnerable that might make you feel. Dr. Kwong is the dental surgeon that did the procedure and I was nothing less than blown away at how easy and painless it all was. I experienced virtually no pain during or after the procedure. There was very little swelling and absolutely no bruising. At the moment I am fitted with a temporary tooth as the grafting takes place, I will get my permanent implant in July. I'd say he is extremely good at what he does. And I would also have to mention the women who run administration, Michelle and Karolina. Awesomely competent and well organized, super friendly too. As is everyone in the office! Karolina was also the assistant during my implant surgery and she was fantastic! This is an office that runs top to bottom like a high end and well oiled machine. I've had bad experiences as a kid/teenager. For weeks, and hours leading up to the appointment, I was getting anxiety and my husband reassured me I was in good hands. My first experience was with the front desk, and the young ladies were lovely and genuine. They had my insurance set up; I didn't need to lift a finger. In LESS THAN 12 hours I got my return from Sunlife (benefits company). It was so simple and quick! The actual office is state of the art, quick, and effective. Everything including X-rays are shown up on LCD TVs in front of you so you know what the dentists plan on fixing or improving. I had Kelly as my dental hygenist. She was kind, relatable, understanding, and empathetic. Did I mention she has a great sense of humour? She was professional and made me feel super comfortable. She demonstrates a true passion for her role and her attention to detail was impeccable. She also explained what plaque and tartar was and how it could impact teeth and gums. During the cleaning process I was fighting to stay awake! I was so relaxed I could have taken a nap! She gave me the remote to the TV and I watched TV and relaxed while she did her thing. Normally I would be gripping the edge of the chair in fear. Dr. Ma is very friendly and understanding. She has a great sense of humour and does her best to make her patients feel welcome. You can also see the openness she has with the hygienists and the sense of partnership they share. The experience from beginning to end has really reduced my fear of dentists and have already booked future appointments with anticipation. I am young and wanting to protect my teeth for decades to come. They have really changed my view of someone putting hands and loud gadgets in my face. On your first visit to the office, you don't sit down in the dentist chair right away - instead Dr. Marshall takes you into his office and has a little "teeth chat" - he goes over any problems you've had in the past, worries/concerns you have, or hopes for the future. Yes, hopes for your teeth. Then you're ushered into the light and airy dental chair areas and get the inspections done by fantastic hygienists (Mel is awesome!) while getting a view of the North Shore mountains. They also have blankets for you if you ever feel chilly! They are very thorough - whenever you need work done, the dentists explain exactly what has happened, and the various courses of action that they can take to fix it. I've often sat in the chair with a hand mirror, while the dentist shows me something on my teeth or gums. Fascinating - these guys really love teeth. They are excellent dentists too - very precise with their work, and I've never had pain when they're working on my mouth! The only downside is that apparently they are on the expensive end of dentistry, but it's totally worth it for me to know that I have experts working on my teeth! However, if money's tight for you, ask them to do an insurance proposal for anything they plan on doing - so you know what you're getting into. The office is always happy to do that, and abide by my wishes! I have referred three of my friends to the Drs Marshall office and everyone has been happy with them too!

He was…read morereferred to us by our neighbor, a Professor of Dentistry from UBC, so we considered that a very credible endorsement. Bruce, his assistant Ting and his hygienist Mel are outstanding. My first visit with Dr. Marshall involved a sit-down in his office with a discussion about my dental health and my goals for my teeth. I had never previously experienced that level of concern over my chompers and it wasn't until then that I realized my teeth had been under-achievers! Dr. Marshall is a fabulous technician but what sets him apart from his peers are his excellent communication skills and his focus on making your dental experience as pleasant as one could have in a dental chair. From the second that you sit down you are told that you are the boss and if something isn't working for you, changes will be made until it does work for you to get the desired result. What other dentist calls you to check how you are doing after a procedure and gives you their personal cell phone number to call if there are any problems once so ever? Other than dentist drills sounding like they are noises being emitted from the final circle of hell (unavoidable), Dr. Marshall has created an environment that even the most fearful dental patient would have to admit is actually quite pleasant. My husband and I have recommended him to friends and colleagues and we would not hesitate to do so again in the future.

I contacted them on Monday after the weekend and they had me in the same Monday at 12pm. Not to look it...they actually did the work. I was there for around 90 minutes getting a filling and new night guard fitted. I've been going to Dr. Ray and Fairview for over 20 years. There is no better dental office. Dr. Dylan actually did the filling yesterday...he is fantastic too. They are true professionals - care about the client first...contentious; provide great communication and are always concerned about what it will cost the patient. I couldn't recommend them more.

About a year and a half ago I moved to the Fairview area and was in need a dentist. To add to…read morethings, I was going to need an understanding dentist, since for 3 years I didn't have extended health coverage and couldn't really afford to see a dentist routinely. This all changed a few months ago when I finally got a real job. Not only did I find an understanding dentist with Dr. Leung, but I also found a dentist who is personable, efficient but thorough, and has a great team. I have always thought I had good dentists while growing up. My childhood, adolescent and twenties-self had dentists that were, all-in-all, pretty good. However, after going to Fairview Dental, my thoughts of what a dentist office can be have been raised. The equipment and techniques used at Fairview Dental are all state-of-the-art. Cameras that can take pictures and videos of your teeth and be displayed on a giant monitor beside you, digital X-rays that take less than a second, fluoride treatments that actually taste good and take less than 30 seconds, and actual comfy dentist chairs are all things used at Fairview Dental. If you have the environment in mind, you'll be pleased to know that the Fairview Dental Centre uses all biodegradable sterilants and cleaners. To add comfort/enjoyment to the visit, there are tvs installed in the ceiling above that you can watch while being worked on. If you want to try and ignore the fact that you're at the dentist, they can provide noise cancelling headphones and the tv remote to change to any of the several channels of tv or music. Although they offer this luxury, I have never chosen to block out all the things going on, since as limited as it is, I've always had a good time having some conversation or listening to the neat facts given by the dentist and hygienists. One thing that I thought was great was that you can provide your email and phone numbers when you book an appointment. A few days before the appointment, depending on the method you chose, they will either call you or send you an email with a reply button that will let them know that you will be there or need to reschedule. For a person on the go and can forget things, I found the use of an electronic reminder and check in a great thing! To add to everything, the pricing and efficiency of the staff is amazing. I needed some extensive dental work lately which included a scaling, polish, filling, discing, and routine checkup. In an hour and a half all was done, and was cheaper than it has ever cost anyone I've known for a "touch up " on a filling. As a nice service, if you're a regular client and are getting married, Fairview Dental will set up an appointment for you to come in for a polishing a week before the wedding for a free polish so you look all good for your photos. Very cool! I cannot express enough how impressed I am with the friendly and efficient staff, modern techniques, and great pricing the Fairview Dental Centre offers. This is a great dental clinic that I will go to for years to come, even if/when I move out of the Fairview area, since it's just that good.

A few dollars..pfft whatever, but this was far from a few dollars. -They only did half a cleaning...HALF, then told her she had to book another appointment for the other half?? "They didn't have time on her first booking"?? Get ready for ANOTHER payment. Neither I or my wife have EVER had to go for two sessions for a cleaning & x-rays. Nor have I ever heard of this.. -An email she received in response to a query about the price was a little patronizing and that was the final nail in the coffin for her.. The short story: She's a masters student & we are both covered by her plan. Even with the coverage Alma is still quite expensive, and the estimates are quite inaccurate as is the process once you get there. I will now pay 1/3 of what she might have paid for the EXACT same thing at Kingsgate Dental & the estimates are always within a few dollars as well. The waits are also 1/3 compared to Alma (they also open on the occasional Sunday). Alma should also get someone else to reply to customer service emails lol. The bright side..?? The bottom half of her mouth is pretty clean :)

They are under the UBC extended health plan here, so it is quite cheap to keep your smile looking like a million bucks if you are a student. I paid around $25 last visit. I was overdue for a cleaning and the hygienists did a great job in getting my teeth sparkling. The Dr. reviewed my x-rays and found one small cavity. She gave me options on how to address it and we proceeded with a small filling. I appreciated that the Dr. checked in with me regularly during the procedure to make sure I wasn't experiencing any sensitivity. My appointment for next year is already booked!

When I asked a question she became visibly irritated and told me that the longer I waited the more bone loss I would incur. I since went to my dentist in California who took full x-rays and spent an hour examining me to conclude that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my tooth. Dr. Mehdian quoted me about $3200 knowing I had no insurance in Canada, yet my dentist in California refused to ask my insurance to pay for redundant work even though I'm 90% covered in California. The pain was due to teeth grinding and since disappeared on its own. His words were, "I don't know what kind of dentist would suggest such unnecessary work". Shame.

From the moment you check in, the staff are extremely friendly, kind and personable while being professional. The hygienist I saw was Natasha and not only was she super sweet and kind, she was full of helpful suggestions such as how to floss properly (she demonstrated it while I held a mirror so I could see). The dentist I saw is Dr. Shivji (junior). You can tell that he is confident in what he does and has great knowledge. Not only is her super personable but he is honest- he will not recommend getting things done that you don't really need just to make more money for the business (as I have experienced at other dental offices in the past). I get anxious about feeling anything when getting fillings and he was very gentle and reassuring, always checking to make sure I was doing ok. I trust him to give me good dental advice. Again, I cannot say enough good things about everyone working at Alpha Dental and my only regret is not being a patient here sooner.
