What a find! I went to several ranches before finding All Star Training, and I'm glad that I kept searching. Kristina has been an awesome teacher/coach/friend. I wasn't new to being around horses but I had limited experience. I love the fact it wasn't all about just jumping on a horse and riding but rather learning all aspects of horsemanship. Kristina works with all experience levels and age groups. I'm a little older and she is able to give me what I need at the same time working with someone younger. She meets her students where they are. Another thing I like is that she takes care of her horses and you can tell they are loved happy and healthy. I recommend All Star Training to anyone looking for a place to learn and grow.

All-Star Training teaches students of all ages 4 and up. Our daughter started lessons when she was 4 and she is 11 now. Kristina is so patient and knowledgeable. The horses are so sweet and Kristina knows their different personalities and riding style, she chooses the right horse for each rider (unless you're lucky enough to have your own you'd like to learn on, she also boards). Our daughter learned a lot more than just horse riding! She learned confidence, endurance, perseverance, empathy, balance... if there is one thing that will make a kid self-assured it's controlling a thousand lb animal. It's been amazing watching her riding skills and overall maturity develop over the years. All the students and parents are easy to get along with. Kristina is very personable and it would be hard for anyone to not like her. There always seems to be some ranch kids running around doing chores for their horses or just to help Kristina. It's a great environment, fun, easy going, tough when she needs to be. Kristina definitely won't let you get away with any shenanigans, student parent or horse, but that really adds to the safe feeling her ranch has. You know your child is in good hands. Whether you just want to learn to ride or train to compete, All-Star Training is the best.

Kristina with All Star Training is 2nd to none! I have tried other training facilities and have never seen a trainer that is so personable and detailed. My daughter at 4 years of age knows every piece of tack and how to properly groom a horse, as every child getting into horses should know. Such a well operated facility as well, beautiful well kept and healthy horses and 3 of the most amazing Pony's you will ever encounter! A true gem when it comes to Lessons and training.

All Star Training made my daughters birthday party perfect! The ladies that brought the ponies were awesome and great with all the excited kids at the party. The ponies looked beautiful- hair braided, sparkly, bedazzled! We were even able to bring carrots to feed the ponies- which was great for all ages to take part in! I would highly recommend All Star Training for those looking for a pony party.

I love that you can do any type of riding and be accepted. I obviously can't ride my pony so I drive her instead. The big arena helps that I can get my pony to a extended trot.

Premium stalls include a large grassy turnout and enclosed stall, the next level is one of two sizes of enclosed stalls, the third of boarding is a 13 acre pasture which also has covered space. The owners, Valerie and Bob, are really great about making sure they meet all of their boarder's needs. To do so they also create a more "custom" housing. For owners of multiple horses they create larger pens or paddocks - with or without cover- based on the unique needs of the horses. Riding wise, you have a standard round pen, grassy area with obstacles, a large arena, and a smaller arena. A second covered round pen is available but is sometimes in use for the 7 day quarantine all new horses are subject to when moving into Alpine Stables. Trailer parking is free. There are tons of chairs and tables and grassy areas for families to hang out. Most weekends there are tons of families around relaxing and watching the riders. Again, very family oriented barn. The new barn manager, Rochelle is excellent has brought much attention to detail, new services, and horse experience to the place. Randy is equally as great with a "can-do" attitude and experience. I personally enjoy Alpine Stables because of the friendliness of the boarders. Everyone is constantly sharing and helping each other, just genuinely enjoying horses as they are meant to be enjoyed. Personally, I have always enjoyed boarding at my own home away from people but I find myself being excited to go to the barn and ride with the new friends I have made.

Yes, it has been a while for a review, but now I have a good reason to write one!…read more Had a really hard time finding a barn in my local area that fit my needs which I found surprising since the valley, I assumed, would have a reasonable amount of good boarding facilities just like LA did. Well, not so much. Even though this IS the land of agriculture there just do not seem to be many places, or if there are, they are not advertised properly and one will never find out. I didn't need a training/show barn, but a location with amenities such as turn out, arena and trail access. But I found so much more at Krogh Ranch! The stress of keeping my horse at a personal property location and his care were completely overwhelming me as they were not meeting our needs. Since I work in LA still once a week out of the month, being so far away and worrying about him was driving me and my husband crazy. By chance I happen to find a note on the board of our local feed store of a newer place that was holding a very cool event with training demos, yoga for your horse, dental, all sorts of cool stuff, a BBQ and raffle with prizes. Now this was starting to sound more like a place I'd feel comfortable having my sweet horse/child Easter at! We drove out immediately and after wandering around looking at the facility we were greeted by the husband of the duo. Gave us a tour while the clinic was going on and was so friendly! The facility itself is top notch. Lots of boarding space and room, one LARGE round pen for turnout, two smaller ones for turnout, pastures, an open ring for barrels/jumps, a massive COVERED barn and access to trails and miles of farm roads to meander down including the beautiful Bear Creek. The ranch is gated for everyone's safety and horsey security. A secure tack room and bathroom to boot. They also make sure all horses are vaccinated before coming onto the property, that they are shod on a regular schedule so that they know YOU are a responsible owner as well. Lisa, and now Easter's auntie as I call her, is so committed to everyone's horse care and owner satisfaction. Her many years of experience in boarding and love of horses really shows through. My silly horse cut himself recently as he cast himself rolling when I was in LA for work and she handled the whole emergency scenario for me until I could return a few days later. I am SO confident in her and her husband's care of my horse I never panicked. I was more worried about her being worried and she was! So, do NOT fear if something happens to your pony as we know they all find trouble, your horse's care is their #1 priority! Lots of additional services offered too like fly mask, turnout, mare & foaling care, training and of course med attention if you need assistance with meds/wraps. I can't express how thankful I am to have found this place, not stressing or worrying about your horse is so critical to being a happy horse owner! Also, all the boarders are so welcoming and many have been there FOR YEARS! That is a true testament to Krogh Ranch! :) Give them a call, you and your horsey will NOT be disappointed! Visit their FB page for more info! They also have a few cows and calves on the property, great things for your horse to learn about if they've never been around them like mine! Where else are going to feed a baby calf! :) http://www.facebook.com/KroghRanch

AFFORDABLE STALLIONS INCLUDING THE $2,000,000 HORSE…read more What's affordable about a $2,000,000 horse? I've been a big fan of horse racing some the 1990s. One aspect that intrigues me is not only the racing, but also the breeding in the thoroughbred industry. As a horse racing gambler I like to use pedigree of a horse as an insight especially big race such as the Kentucky Derby. Not this year but the last two years I bet the correct winner of the Kentucky Derby. What's cool about pedigree also is that when I handicap a horse sometimes I notice that I either bet on that horse's father or mother in the past. This is my second thoroughbred farm I visited in California, but my first in Northern California. I came here three Fridays ago to see three stallions, 2 of them have local ties to Golden Gate Fields Racetrack or Bay Meadows Racetrack. The third is the $2,000,000 horse, which I'll get back to later. When I arrived I was greeted by Jim Daehling the owner of this farm. He took me to a tour of the farm. Besides the horse farm this property inhabits a nursery and winery, which the farm sells grapes to Gallo Winery, to compensate for the horse farm. That's an ingenious approach to make money. As I surveyed the property I was impressed with large yet green pastures. I found out that despite the drought this farm is located near the Consumes River. The underground water from that river makes the land fertile. The main attraction for me was the stallions. This farm has 6 stallions, but I came to see 3. The stallion Peppered Cat ran at Golden Gate Fields where he won his second race, which ended up as his last win in his career. A little history note his father Tabasco Cat won the El Camino Real Derby, a Kentucky Derby prep race when that race was run at Bay Meadows Racetrack but now is run at Golden Gate Fields. He would end up winning two Triple Crown races - Preakness and Belmont Stakes. The stallion Under Caution never ran at either Golden Gate Field or Bay Meadows Racetrack, but his father AP Indy, who was sold at a public auction in Kentucky for $2,900,000, won his second race at Bay Meadows. He would end up winning a Triple Crown race, the Belmont Stakes, and be named Horse of the Year. (The two years that I bet the consecutive winners of the Kentucky Derby was because AP Indy was their grandfather.) The other stallion Gotham City is main reason why I came to visit this farm. Several years ago he was sold at a public auction for $2,000,000 as a racing prospect. His potential was never fully realized as he only ran on two races due to injury. I have visited numerous farms in Kentucky, which is considered the thoroughbred breeding capital in the world due to its million dollar, blue-blooded horses. Some of the stallions I visited in Kentucky are in the pedigrees of the three stallions I came to see at Daehling Ranch. However I didn't know what to expect from these stallions' disposition as I encountered some of relatives. Regarding Peppered Cat I visited his great-grandfather Storm Bird in Kentucky. He was known for his volatile temper and wore a muzzle. I was not allowed to pet him. In fact Peppered Cat's father Tabasco Cat almost killed his trainer when he ran him over. However Peppered Cat was mild manner when I saw him in his stall. With respect to Gotham City I visited his grandfather Halo in Kentucky. He even had a more psychotic temper because he would deliberately try to hurt humans. He definitely was one stallion that I was not allowed to pet though I was able to get close to him. Gotham City's appearance resembles that of Halo. Did Gotham City inherit his grandfather's infamous temper? Surprisingly he did not. I was allowed to pet him. How often do you get to pet a $2,000,000 horse? With Under Caution I visited his father AP Indy when I was in Kentucky. However he's one of the nicest stallions I ever met as likes people however he has a reputation of producing sons who tend to be temperamental. I wouldn't say Under Caution is temperamental but of the three stallions he was the most aggressive as I've seen dents on his fence. The farm's website has pictures of the stallions that reside. Based on the website I didn't think Peppered Cat looked impressive but when I met him he was the best looking of the three stallions I visited. Gotham City, though mild manner, has the most intimidating appearance because he's almost black with that white blaze on his face. The three stallions I visited have blue-blooded pedigrees with a stud fee that is reasonable cheap in the thoroughbred breeding industry. In Kentucky the breeding fees of highly selective stallions can range from $50,000 to $300,000. The breeding fees of the stallion at Daehling Ranch are less than $2,000. If you want to breed your mare to a blue-blooded stallion without "breaking the bank" by paying an expensive breeding fee this is one farm you might want to consider as its motto is "Affordable to the Small Breeder!"
