They finished the project swiftly and allowed me to review for myself before calling it complete, and everything looks as good as new. As mentioned, this was a relatively small project that I was hesitant to do myself but also cognizant of bigger companies/contractors over-charging me, and TNC came through with a completely reasonable and understandable quote/rate and did a great job on fixing the issue. These branches were safety hazards and very likely will break during the winter season and cause roof damage or injure tenants. Very important that I hired a contractor with all the safety following. Jessie's crew did an excellent job tie down the heavy branches and cutting so they don't fall uncontrollably injuring someone or damaging the property. We had no contract with American Built Fence for replacing our gate. Only an estimate was given to us by our neighbor. The estimate was for 8 feet of fence and a gate, when in reality it was only 3 feet of fence and a gate. We were never contacted in any way (phone, email, text, or in person) by American Built Fence about replacing our gate before, during or after the project. I came home one day towards the end of our neighbor's project to the gate replaced. However, the gate was 8" in the air and did not have a handle. Shortly after, American Built finished our neighbors project and left the site. They never had any contact with us about how the gate turned out or any other contact and any other time. And they left our side of the fence and gate area a mess including soil, large chunks of concrete, as well as pieces of our neighbor's shed they had demolished. In addition, during the project they were drinking (and drunk) on the job. They finished off a 12 pack between three guys one afternoon. To make matters worse they even left their garbage (including beer bottles) on our property. (Wish I would have taken pictures!) They also damaged our vegetation including breaking branches that were a few feet off the fence line. A few weeks later when I was contacted about paying, we called and voiced our complaints (finally realizing they weren't coming back to clean up). We told them we would pay the amount they billed (which was higher than it should have been - based on 8 feet of fence versus 3 feet), but they needed to come back and lower the gate to the correct height as well as put on a handle. I text (which is how they were [very unprofessionally] contacting me) and they didn't text me back about coming back to fix/complete the job. When they didn't get back to me, I called the office and was told the lady was out of the office and would give me a call back. She never called back. On September 1, 2020 just 5 weeks later, I received a letter from a debt collector and realized they must have immediately turned me into a debt collector rather than trying to work things out with us.

We got several bids and after meeting with Shane we knew he was the guy. He helped us design a beautiful 300sqft Trex deck that allows for our BBQ and entertaining passions. Throughout the process we faced a lot of setbacks at the hands of Mother Nature. Our setbacks included terrible rain, some serious flooding. Supplies being delayed and the supplier almost trying to crush their company truck and then additional delays caused by the beginning of COVID-19 closures. None of these setbacks I would directly blame on the contractor. They also had to get rid of an employee and got backed up on other work. So in the end the construction took a lot longer than expected. However we now have the perfect deck with custom low slope stairs that are perfect for my wife. The level of craftsmanship is exactly what we were looking for and now our deck is beautiful, solid and makes the exact statement we wanted it to on our house. We have already used Shane for some fence repairs and we would not hesitate to use them again for other projects. In the end like all projects we ended up a little over budget and it took longer than we had anticipated but we got an amazing deck that we love and that has already impressed neighbors.

BEWARE of This Contractor!…read more BEWARE - Before you even think about signing with Tekas Fire & Hood Installations LLC or Miguel Ortega Lopez, do yourself a favor: look up his contractor license history on the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) "Contractor Lookup" tool. You'll see the trail - multiple complaints, lawsuits, and actions that speak for themselves. In my case, I paid him over $22,500 as the first installment for a commercial hood installation. After the permits were approved and everything was ready for him to start, he completely disappeared - no work done, no communication, ignored calls, ignored texts. After talking to other local contractors and the business owners who previously contracted with him, I learned this is not an isolated case. Several people in our area have been burned in the same way - he takes the money, vanishes, and leaves you stranded. If you value your money, your time, and your sanity, stay away. This is not just a bad contractor - this is a serious risk to your project and your business. Do your research before it's too late.

Not only could they not stick within the timeline, but they did things so bass-ackwards that the new contractor had to redo so much of what I had been billed and paid for... for instance, before rebuilding the wall, they set the trusses. The trusses were set crooked and a couple were set backwards. Two of them broke because of the stress of being wrongly installed. They billed for full demolition, but did not complete it. They billed for clearing the crawl space and laying plastic, but it was not done. They used 2x4 for an exterior wall when code is 2'6. I could go on and on, but the biggest of all their mistakes was that they have a $30K installment that has not been used and claim they don't have to refund me. There is a lawsuit in the works. Better Business Bureau is involved. The state attorney General is aware, and waiting on others to let them know of the deceitful practices. He threatened to sue me if I gave a negative review, but the truth is something he can't defend against... His response to my complaint with the BBB: " on Thursday, July 13, 2023 The Contractor and Mrs. Johnson entered into a contract for the Contractor to provide services. The contract included a clause that stated that the entire contract amount would become due if the client stopped, slowed, hindered, or in any way prohibited the Contractor from providing work or fulfilling the Contractor's obligations. Mrs. Johnson violated this clause by refusing to provide access to the worksite, failing to provide timely approvals, making unreasonable demands, and requesting to separate from further services from the contractor. As a result, the Contractor was unable to complete the work and suffered significant financial losses. The Contractor's attorneys have reviewed the facts of the case and believe that Mrs. Johnson has violated the contract. They are currently gathering the necessary information and will be responding to Mrs. Johnson shortly with a more detailed account of the client's violations. In addition to the contract amount, the Contractor will also be filing separate lawsuits for each instance of inaccurate and negative reviews found on social media sites and government agencies. These reviews are highly inaccurate and blatantly misleading, and they could have a significant negative impact on the Contractor's business. The Contractor hopes that Mrs. Johnson will resolve this matter promptly and to the satisfaction of the contractor. If they do not hear from Mrs. Johnson within 10 business days, they will assume that she does not dispute their claims and will proceed with legal action. The Contractor is confident that they will be successful in their legal action. They have a strong case, and they are represented by experienced attorneys. They are also prepared to take this matter to court if necessary. The Contractor is committed to protecting their rights and their business. They will not tolerate being treated unfairly or having their reputation damaged. They are confident that they will be successful in their legal action and that they will be able to recover the full amount of the contract and damages for the negative reviews".
