I highly recommend lessons, whether it is for preparing for an event, wanting to pick back up what you did as a kid, or wanting to try something new. Ann is an incredible teacher and got me dancing in the first lesson, whereas I spent my whole life thinking I couldn't dance. She has worked with several of my friends, as well, and got them ready for their wedding and other events. She breaks things down so they seem very simple. Her humor and positivity make learning fun. She has taught me bachata, merengue, cha cha, rumba, swing, and waltz so far, and we're still going! And a friend of mine and I also started doing tap and ballet with her. I have been associated with All2Dance for almost a year now. Ann and Victor are excellent dance teachers. I take private lessons with both of them every week for ballroom and Ballet (Ann only). As soon as started taking my private lessons at All2Dance, I realized their one class is worth three lessons compared to other dance academy I attended and yet less expensive. I initially started learning ballroom dancing and for few months. To add flexibility and elegance to my ballroom dancing, I have started attending Ballet lessons with Ann. Ballet dancing is similar to yoga but more fun. With Ballet dancing I realized streching has many advantages and as Ann says "World would have been happier place if everyone would do stretching". Within first two months of my Ballet lessons, my plantar fasciitis was gone. I could noticeably see my legs being elongated. When I do my weight training now, it is becoming easier and I do not feel sore. I have been to dance classes after long stressful day with headaches and heavy cramps. In either of the situation, if I would not have known that Ann could work her magic out, I would have stayed home in pain. With her knowledge of how human body works and how stretching can help, she could not only help me cure my headache or cramps with appropriate stretching, I would learn new moves and I would not believe that I had anything wrong with me an hour ago! Ballroom dancing equally helps with exhilarating a tiresome day! They both are very professional, friendly and they take personal interest in your development. Anne and Victor are wonderful teachers, friends and people. My wife and I have been dancing with them for nearly 2.5 years. We started because my wife loves to dance, and I . . . let's just say I make up for lack of skill with enthusiasm. Then we decided to take private lessons to prepare for our wedding, which was one of the best decisions we ever made. We loved every minute of pre-wedding lessons, and looked forward to them as an escape from the stress of wedding planning. I was so happy with the lessons that I invited my mom for her own lesson. Needless to say my wife and I had a splendid time during our first dance as a married couple, and my mom and I had a great time during our mother-son dance. I'm in the military and, after having a fantastic dance instructor in college, I've tried to find worthwhile dance classes everywhere I've been stationed. I'm on my fourth duty station and I have not gone back to anyone for a second lesson until I found Victor and Ann at All2Dance. The best thing about this couple is they are great TEACHERS. It is one thing to be good at dancing (or anything else, for that matter), but being good at something doesn't necessarily mean you are able to teach someone else to be good at it. This duo has that talent. I dragged my wonderful fiancée (now wife) to group swing dance classes shortly after we were engaged. She had never danced before and she was not too keen on having an official first dance at our reception. But I really wanted to, so she did it for me 'cuz she's awesome like that. After hammering out the basics at group classes and learning just how much fun Victor and Ann are, we signed up for private lessons and took about 12 hours worth over the three months leading up to our wedding. By the time we were done, my fiancée's stage fright was gone and she was actually enjoying herself. Our first dance went perfectly and got quite the reaction from the crowd. Plus I was able dance competently with my 77 year old grandmother who has been dancing her whole life. The group classes are great for getting your feet wet, but if you're prepping for an event, private lessons are a great investment of your time and money. My wife and I had a very negative experience with All 2 Dance, in particularly with Victor. As beginners, we bought a package of six lessons, at around $100 a lesson ($589 total), in preparation for our wedding this fall. The initial lessons with Anne weren't too bad - she can be a little brusque, but she was largely professional and my wife and I felt like we made good progress. The group lesson we had with our parents was particularly fun and helpful. However, our experience with Victor was horrible. In all of our interactions with him, he was extremely blunt bordering on harsh, interrupted and talked over and at us, and displayed an unprofessional and unwelcoming attitude. For instance: in each lesson we had multiple conversations with him that went like this: Victor: Stop. That's wrong. Why did you do that? Me: Sorry, I think I got confused because....[insert beginner reason like "I missed a step with my left foot" or "I was concentrating on my footwork and let my hand drop"] Victor: *interrupts* That's wrong. Do it the way I showed you. Repeat that every 5 minutes for an hour, along with some unsolicited berating over where you are or are not in your wedding planning, and you've got $100 worth of Victor's time but very little dancing or instruction. It was especially frustrating because it repeatedly broke our flow of concentration and to stop complete, take a step back, and be lectured at. We walked into our fifth lesson trying to decide whether we wanted to buy additional lessons - we'd been somewhat uncomfortable with Victor's style before, but had spent more time with Anne, and weren't sure if we needed more lesson time before the wedding. Our last lesson was so bad, however, that my wife literally left in tears, and I spent the last half of it deciding if it was worth embarrassing her by walking out halfway through. We decided that we were completely uncomfortable returning, and notified Victor and Anne via email that we would not be using our final lesson, which we'd already paid for. We didn't receive any sort of response - no apology, no expression of concern, certainly no mention of a refund for our unused lesson. I would continue, but this review is already long enough as it is. We're giving All 2 Dance the lowest ratings we can for the simple reason that we cannot under any circumstance imagine ourselves returning or recommending that anyone else take lessons there. read more

Had to take them to court in 2011 to get our money back for a dance class for my daughter. They were disorganized, canceled classes, and refused to make a refund until I won in DC small claims court. I enjoyed my time here for the few weeks I attended. The team here is really a ballroom focused team. I was interested in Tango. We danced Tango a bit and then George, a wonderful wonderful man, realized that what I was really looking for was Argentine Tango (vs the American Tango that the class was heading towards, Promenade Position and all). He suggested a few places in town. I am now four years in that form of dance. No doubt I would have found this new path on my own eventually but for a leader to direct a student on the student-led path is what makes a teacher a teacher. My boyfriend got lessons for us as an anniversary gift and it's been so great we haven't stopped taking lessons. Now my boyfriend is not one who loves to dance but they make it fun and now he can lead me through Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Salsa, Cha Cha, Zamba, Fox Trot, Quick Step, Sway, and Hustle. The private lessons are great and can accommodate our busy schedule. I highly recommend All2Dance! We looked at some other option when we first started taking lessons but nothing compared. Ann and Victor have a style that makes it easy to understand and learn new steps without being overwhelming. My husband and I got a package of lessons with Victor and Ann. We originally chose them because they were the most affordable, but we ended up sticking with them because we had so much fun with Victor, who gave us our dance lessons. He's incredibly patient, and does a great job of relating dance to the individual, even tying in examples from whatever your career might be. He and my husband got along so well that they probably would've hung out as friends, even without me! I was at first reluctant because All2Dance doesn't love the idea of choreographing a routine, but I soon learned that they focused on incorporating dance into your muscle memory. This means that my husband and I are able to dance at plenty of other weddings, because we understand what we're doing and dance according to the music, not according to a set pattern. We learned the foxtrot and salsa. We ended up choreographing a routine on our own, and after we performed for Victor, he helped incorporate some moves to make it better. I also took a dance lesson with another teacher here, with my dad. He had taken dance lessons with my mom years ago, and hated it, but he quickly learned the swing in about an hour, and even enjoyed it! Victor and Ann are not only superb dancers and fun people to be around, but they are also excellent teachers. My then-fiancé and I had originally booked only 3 private lessons with Victor to prepare us for our first dance. Neither of us knew how to dance, so we were dreading the first dance and planning to spend only the bare minimum amount of time alone on the dance floor before inviting our guests to join us. By the end of our lessons with All2Dance, however, we were seriously considering two solo dances so we could have plenty of time alone on the dance floor to show off our moves! We had so much fun during our lessons and made such progress that we upgraded our private lesson package twice. Victor knew how to build our confidence and keep us interested with new dance moves. When the big day came, we were well prepared and had a blast - all thanks to Victor and Ann. Victor and Ann truly go above and beyond to make their clients happy. As our wedding date approached, we were taking two to three private lessons a week, and they were extraordinarily flexible and worked with our schedules. Ann even personally delivered to our wedding venue a pair of dance shoes my husband bought but couldn't pick up in time for the wedding. My (now) husband and I took private lessons leading up to our wedding for our first dance and we are so happy we went with All2Dance, it was one of the best pre-wedding investments we made in ourselves leading up to the wedding! We weren't quite sure what dance we wanted to do for our first dance. At our first lesson we said as much, so Victor had us play some songs we were considering and within a few moments of starting each song, he was able to tell us what kind of dance(s) would be best suited to it and even did a little demo of what the dance would look like. We ultimately chose the waltz. We worked primarily with Ann, but also took some lessons with both Victor and George. No matter which instructor you end up working with they are all incredibly talented instructors who are knowledgeable and passionate about dance. In fact I'd recommend spending at least one lesson with each as they bring their unique views and thoughts on the art of dance and offer different insights and approaches to improve your skills! In addition to lessons together, we each took individual lessons (me with George and my husband with Ann) to work on our specific skills/weaknesses (i.e. leader vs. follower (or in my case, breaking the habit of trying to lead when I should be following haha). I was initially skeptical of individual lessons, but they really improved our skills because by dancing with a pro it allowed us to just focus on our own issues. As a result, we began dancing much better as a couple. All2Dance is a no-judgement zone! Ann was patient, kind, and understanding and didn't make me feel like I was rhythmically challenged. This was something I was really apprehensive about first going in; I felt like I had two left feet and was convinced that I was going to get laughed out of the studio! The complete opposite is true. Ann, Victor, and George are supportive and reassuring that you've got this! One of the best things about Ann and Victor is that they don't believe in choreographing your first dance. They're not going to push you to memorize a five or ten move routine that you then repeat for the length of your song (boring!). They believe in truly teaching you to master the art of dance to where the dance moves become second nature and you dance fluidly without repetition. It makes the whole first dance experience so much more enjoyable and you can relax knowing that if you miss a beat your whole dance isn't screwed up--you can recover and no one will be the wiser! We didn't tell anyone that we were taking lessons because we wanted everyone to be surprised. And boy were they surprised! Our first dance was amazing, so many people came up to us and said how graceful and beautiful we looked and wanted to know if it was choreographed (we were proud to say: "nope that was all us!"). We were even told that his grandmother was so touched by our dance that she cried! We enjoy dancing so much now that after returning from our honeymoon, we've continued to regularly take private lessons. It's a great date night activity! It makes us feel more in tune with one another and it's something we enjoy doing together. A few general thoughts that I wish I'd known for all my brides out there! Dance lessons are a great break from the wedding stress, it helps you connect as a couple on a different level and helps you remember why you are getting married in the first place (hint it's not because of the floral arrangements)!!! With that said, get started early! I wish we had started closer to six months out instead of our 2 (ish). While we were lucky that we had schedules that allowed us to make up for lost time and come in for 2 or even 3 lessons per week, I cannot even begin to imagine how much more epic our dance would've been if we'd been dancing longer. Also, when you have so much going on in those last few months you don't want to be fretting about your dancing, you want to already have it in the bag! More generally, make sure you practice outside of lessons, that's where we really got the muscle memory! You're spending a lot of money for lessons, so you want to come in to each lesson ready to learn more and really fine-tune! I highly recommend All2Dance to anyone who wants to learn to really dance (whether for a first dance, to impress your friends on the dance floor, or just to learn a new skill). Our dance lesson is always something we both look forward to! Private lessons may be expensive, but it's worth every penny and then some! Especially when preparing for a special occasion, the one-on-one attention with a pro who knows what they're doing, who is invested in your success, and make it so much FUN is a very worthwhile investment! My wife and I were looking for a convenient, experienced, non-threatening and fun place to learn some dance skills before our son's upcoming wedding. We had taken a couple of group lessons years ago at 'franchise' and found it worthless. We spoke with a couple of people and they highly recommended Ann and Victor's operation. We told them what we wanted to learn - some Swing and variations along with easy moves/rotations. We started with a single lesson, but immediately fell in love with Ann's approach - focused, fun, start small and do more later, and it was very helpful. We immediately signed up for the 'package' (even though our last lesson would have to take place after the wedding). In order to get the most out of the experience, the couple HAS to practice during the week, and we did, even if irregularly...and it all paid off. We have become less rigid, each of us enjoy the lessons and the practicing (better than another 30-45 minutes in front of the TV), and are looking forward to enjoying the wedding in about 10 days for all the reasons we normally would, but even more so, now that we have - together - gone through this wonderful experience. It has become - for a couple married close to 40 years - a new kind of 'date' night. Anne is a wonderful teacher - a great "drill sergeant" with humor and patience and fabulous skills! A few friends of mine know how to dance well but Ann and Victor have had decades of practice and practice teaching. Dancing is about combining so many different things and you need strong habits early on to allow you to succeed. I would highly recommend All2Dance. I have been dancing for 17 years (on the foundation of 6 years of lessons growing up in Puerto Rico), and was looking for a place in DC that could teach both me and my boyfriend, who had taken lessons here and there but was more of a novice. Victor's group lessons are tailored to each student's level, so he would give my boyfriend beginner instruction while correcting my technique and always making sure I had fun. Victor focuses not just on moves but on technique (step size, posture, distance from partner) and is the only teacher I found in DC who CARES IF THE MAN IS LEARNING TO LEAD, which is critical to retaining the lesson and being able to dance outside of class. The location is a bit out of the way if you don't have a car, but we used the time spent waiting for the D6 to practice what we had learned on the corner. Victor was everything my husband and I could have wanted from a dance instructor to help us prepare for our first dance at our recent wedding. He listened to our song choice for our first dance and gave us options on what type of dance to do, explaining the pros and cons of each dance. Once we agreed on a dance style, he offered the right balance of criticism, advice, and encouragement over the six lessons that we took with him. Originally, we were only planning on doing three lessons, but after our first, we realized that we had a VERY long way to go, so we added three more lessons. I was not looking forward to our first dance, so my husband decided to sign us up for dance lessons. I was nervous about taking lessons, but as soon as we started I felt at ease with Anne. She is an extremely talented dancer, but more importantly - she is a wonderful teacher. She is patient, sweet, and funny. She is a joy to be with, and didn't just teach us a "routine" but rather dance skills to be used in all aspects of dancing. She put us totally at ease and did everything she could to prepare us for our wedding day dance. On our wedding day, we definitely impressed our guests with our beautiful first dance. We loved our dance lessons so much, we have stayed on as students with Anne, and are excited to learn different types of dances. Could not recommend more! read more
