(No problem paying for a quality product, but this felt different) After finalizing the fabric choice, style, size and other details (including the stitching and legs) the price was provided. The price was much higher than expected and I asked as to why it was that high and not the price as discussed on prior visits. Was initially told $5250 for the sofa, then $1800 for leather, plus HST. The final price ended up being well over $8000. When I asked if the price can do any better - the staff member advised that they already did the best that he could. I advised that this is over the expected $8000 price. I requested to think about it, as I would not immediately have the additional funds at this point he offered to split the delivery fee ($150). That was quite a surprise, as he had previously just advised me, multiple times, that he could not adjust the price at all. At this point I requested to not the order number as I would have to seriously consider whether or not the sofa would be purchased. At this point the salesman simply got up and started about his business in the showroom, completely ignoring me and not even acknowledging my departure. The chance of purchasing the item has certainly now lessened after the treatment of the sales staff. A call has been placed with the owner (Bill) to discuss the issue and we will see how it will be addressed - but at this point it certainly is clear that this staff member (and possibly the company) needs to learn to to treat customers with honesty and respect. Hopefully the owner responds to the concerns and he is not the reason that his staff treat perspective customers (not sure how likely that is now) in this manner. Quite shameful the way they acted. I would certainly not send my parents to their shop based on this experience. Will update after / if the owner calls to address what occurred. Certainly hope that they do - it would clearly indicate the true customer service level of the company.

In the store there is an incredible wall of sample books that has something for everyone. I found a lovely hard wearing fabric that recharged my 70s shabby teak chair seats that were hanging on by a thread. After I did 4 matching chairs, I had some material left over for a 5th chair. Now Dad can be part of the set too. John had a great turnaround time and gave us great intel on how to remove the chair seats to make it easier to redo them. Great work done fast. Love that they are in the neighbourhood. Check for store hours. Call or email before you stop by and a cell phone photo of the furniture makes it easy to get a quote. I'm super cheap and John helped me get the job done on my budget.

John is either too busy, or simply rude, to deal with clients these days. I called to make an appointment to discuss the reupholstery of my sofa many months back. John called back and cave me a quote (over $1500) but said the job would be no problem. I went in a few days later to look at different fabric samples. I didn't find anything I liked, so John referred me to a few outside sources and said to get back in touch once I had decided. Within a few days, I'd found the fabric I wanted. I was ready for the job to progress. I called. I emailed. I never heard from John or anyone at Angel Interiors & Custom Upholstery again. I have no idea what happened, but many months have passed and I've tried to get back in touch with John several times, leaving messages, etc. A small, local business that is fine with turning its nose up at a $1500 job is just a little too full of itself for my tastes. I found a different upholster that did my couch for $1000. I won't be attempting to contact John Angel again. Such a disappointment.

Since then, multiple additional buttons have come loose, suggesting this was not an isolated incident. Communication via email and phone resulted in only two options being offered: pay a $300+ moving fee to return the couch for repair or arrange and pay for transportation myself. For a product at this price point, this approach to a recurring defect is disappointing. Buyers should factor in the product n quality and how post-purchase issues are handled.

The material we used was stripes, which is a bit more difficult since the stripes need to look consistent and to match on the top and bottom. We had the chairs back within a couple of weeks. The chairs were pricey, but consistent with other quotes we got. (if anything, a bit cheaper than other places) Also, most of the upholsterers we talked to required us to find our own material, whereas Doug has a decent selection on site. Overall we were very pleased.

Doug Green was the salesperson and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. The estimate was very reasonable compared to others that I contacted. The work took approximately 6 weeks which was also very reasonable. The upholstery work itself was well done and I was happy with the overall results. I have been using the furniture now for more than 2 years and am satisfied with the fabric quality. The estimate reflected exactly the final price which was a thrill since I have since had a very poor experience with another company for a smaller job that cost twice as much in the end. I have two cautions. The new fabric was attached to my sofa and armchair frames in such a manner that there are now gaps at the corners between the frame and fabric of the arms that were not present in the original furniture. Also, the wood trim on the living room furniture was reattached in a sloppy way - finishing nails showing and mitred corners not nicely aligned. The other concern I have is that ones possessions will not be unloaded from the delivery truck until a cheque for the full amount outstanding is handed over. Once I had my furniture back and in my house, I noticed the flaws in the workmanship. I didn't follow up since I felt the price was reasonable and no one else notices the gaps or nails or unmitred corners unless I point it out. However, I believe that this reflects the overall quality and attention to detail of the company. I don't think furniture should be held ransom until full payment is received. If the company cares about their reputation, they should make sure a customer is satisfied before demanding full payment.

Worst Experience Ever!…read more The first time we went in, when we were unsure as to whether we wanted to use their services, they were the sweetest and extremely attentive. When we came back with our cushions their attitude quickly turned sour. The older woman, I believe the manager, was extremely rude (probably because she knew she had us). We were told a price double the amount of our initial walk-in, we should have turned around and ran. We were then told 3 weeks! Because they don't do any of the sewing on site, not something we were told when we initially went in. Also, we were told we had to leave our cushions there leaving us with no coach for the duration. We FINALLY get a call saying the covers are done and we go pick them up. We get home and they screwed up one of the zippers even though we gave SPECIFIC instructions on how to sew it because it is a custom pillow. We bring it back the next day they are open (Tuesday as they are closed Sunday and Monday) and we are told it could take 2 weeks to fix a mistake they made, the only 'apology' we received was a 'no one is perfect'. 2 weeks passes, no call. I call them, we are told that the cushion is done and that it 'just came in'. Just came in at 3pm on a Saturday? Who are you kidding, lady? I was not born yesterday. We get the pillow home and low and behold the f'd it up AGAIN! I would love to say that I will never go into this store again but looks like I will have to if I want this pillow fixed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are terrible, rude and have no idea what they are doing! Also, they are extremely expensive for all the mistakes they have made that we now have to suffer for. If I could give them a zero star I would.

We were very pleased with the result: the people are extremely knowledgeable, they suggested small vents as we had chosen a leather which we later realized was a great idea, they added piping, which made the chairs look great. We considered the price to be very reasonable, they met the time estimate they gave us, and were professional to deal with. We wouldn't hesitate to return to them again.

It turns out the company blocked me from their social website for indicating discrimination under the Ontario Human Rights Act. They discriminate potential customers based on age and status. They discriminate potential customers wearing COVID-19 masks and follow the customer in and around their showroom without acknowledging their presence. They dismiss potential customer inquiries all together and do not conduct the necessary follow ups as indicated by the customer. I visited their showroom at the end of 2023 requesting for a writing desk with specific dimensions. As a result, the associate or owner I conversed with insisted he would follow up regularly. All communication ties were cut after my initial visit and made a conscientious effort to stay in touch with them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ORGANIZATION TO THE COMMON CUSTOMER. CLEARLY, THEY DESIRE SPECIFIC CUSTOMERS SUCH AS INTERIOR DESIGNERS AND THEIR CLIENTELE. AS A MARKETING INSIDER WHO HAS TRAINED AND OFFERED SOUND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR MANY COMPANIES, "PLACE PEOPLE OVER PROFITS FIRST!!!"
