I have visited Allegra Banquets multiple times over the last few years for a monthly meeting and dinner. The spaces available are nice with their own bars in them and plenty of space to meet, eat, and present. The dinners amaze me. They provide a grilled chicken dish, pasta, chicken parmesan, vegetables, potatoes and more. The food is some of the best I've had from any banquet hall in the city and suburbs. And there's plenty of parking outside. I'm amazed more groups don't utilize this space. read more

We just had the Thanksgiving buffet at Allegra. The ambiance was elegant & beautiful. The food was varied, fresh & delicious. The service was kind & topnotch. I made the mistake of attending the Allegra Banquet hall, w/a close personal friend, for the Easter buffet service. We attended the 1:00 PM seating instead of the earlier 10:00 AM and, upon arrival at the scheduled time, we were met by a massive amount of people standing in line like a "cattle call" for aprox. 20 minutes until seated. We were ushered to the rear corner of the venue located by an exit door and dirty dish area. I objected to the staff but, although polite, stated there was nothing that could be done and I should have requested better seating arrangements upon make the reservation. We decided to stay as long as we were already there. The table/seating was so far from the serving area we should have been in the parking lot. A live band was present but we couldn't hear the music above the clattering of dirty dishes being returned to the area. We found the waitress, Michelle, to be inattentive, at best, and quite harried but the busboy would promptly fill our water glasses / clear our dishes. The food was varied but fair to meddling in taste and took some time to be replenished in the hot serving dishes. I sincerely regret posting a negative review on any location but feel I had no recourse in this matter. We went to the Allegra because of the proximity to my friends housing but, in this location, I have many other options to spend my money. I have been to, and prefer, the Red Appe Buffet, Fogo de Chao, Rivers Casino etc. which, for this particular price point, far better alternatives. I give this location/experience one (1) star, at best, because of the outstanding service of the bus boy. read more

We had our wedding in September 2024 at Allegra in Villa Park. We picked them because they had the most organized system and proved to be the best value out of the possible locations. Allegra has quite a bit of experience pulling off weddings, and it certainly shows. We were given a choice of variety of packages, and they were extremely flexible with any accommodations we requested. Under Bernadette's recommendation, we went with the champagne satin table clothes and their choice of white hanging backdrop. We also went with family style, and they decorated and provided the sweets table. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Bernadette was incredibly patient with all my questions, and warmly welcomed us whenever we needed to view the banquet room again. They even helped me with the timeline, and suggested some key details, that I myself would have forgotten otherwise. I cannot express enough how organized they are. Everything went smoothly, and their food was amazing. We received a lot of compliments on our venue choice as well as the food. However, what really sets Allegra apart, is that the same two people (Bernadette and Evelina) are the only ones you communicate with. From the very first visit, to the many subsequent visits/phone calls, to the day of the event, they were there from start to finish. I have yet to find another comparable location that operates with the same level of consistency. They have an extreme attention to detail and literally remember EVERYTHING. I spent a great night celebrating a family event. Both, the kids and adults had great fun. The food was delicious and fresh. The bar was opened late and everyone enjoyed the drinks :) Servers were friendly and attentive. This banquet serviced it's purpose a smaller sized area to host a semi formal event. I arrived to the building and found the entrance confusing, I parked near what I believed to be the front of the building but found a paper on the "front door" with arrows pointing to the side of the building. I walked in and noticed two event rooms and a coat check, there was no one working the coat check. I walked inside the closet and hung my coat up. The event room felt very small, when the party livened up guests started dancing. There wasn't a dance floor, the guests were dancing in a small horizontal space. The food was pretty good, I loved that there were plenty of veggie options for vegetarians. My favorite had to be the pasta, the sauce was thick and generous. The company was good, we had a fun night and made some new memories which ultimately was the purpose of our visit. read more

Very much a surprise as far as cuisine. While the ambiance is definitely not quite there anymore, the food makes up for anything lacking in ambiance. Went for a lunch after a friends dads funeral, and was quite surprised by the tasty meal. The mashed potatoes with garlic and broccoli mix of fresh veggies with garlic was especially good, so good that the waitstaff kept bringing more bowls of both to our table. The only reason I'm not giving the place 4 stars is the lack of ambiance. On St. Charles Road in a venue as old as dirt, the food quality, very good taste and freshness was a tremendous surprise. read more

I hosted a wedding shower at Allegra - Villa Park. First, the staff was so accommodating, Ewelina was helpful, polite and did everything to make sure our day went down perfect. She even checked with us to make sure everyone was happy. Second, the food was so good and plentiful. We had chicken vesuvio...excellent! And I have to tell you, they make the most fantastic punch! Third, the room had a huge chandelier, and the sweet table had crystal decorations all over. They dont charge an arm and leg for extras, almost all was included in one great price!!! Like most of you searching for a venue, we did our extensive research and everything keep leading us back to Allegra. Most of the places we looked at didn't give us the flexibility Allegra gave us. Tony and Bernadetta reassured us that everything would go well and it definitely did. The staff was amazing. The food was delicious and our reception went exactly the way we wanted it to. When we first went there to check the place out for our daughters wedding, we were very impressed. The staff is wonderful. Then we set up a tasting.. OMG!!! The food was fantastic! We booked.. then covid hit..... They were very accommodating and understanding. Well we finally had the wedding 10/10/2020 and it was a fantastic!!!!!!! My mom and mother-in-law threw me a baby shower here last month. I have to say that everything was like a dream! The room was beautiful and the staff was prompt and attentive. Also, the food was outrageously delicious. Everything was exactly like I would have wanted and, as a result, my baby shower was a huge success! The last part I wanted to mention was how amazing the management was. The people in charge were flexible, accommodating and really helped make everything perfect for our special day. Well I decided to try Allegra, but after waiting upwards of 5 minutes for someone, anyone, to show us to a table, we left. There were 2 people at one table. There was a waitress at the bar with another person and the bartender. You'll have to do a lot better if you want to stay open. There was no smell of food being made. The smell was creepy as is the entrance which is reminiscent of a funeral parlor. The place was virtually empty at 5:50pm on a Saturday night. You don't deserve the star I am forced to use in order to post this review. read more

We have now ordered pizza and appetizers for delivery twice and both times were excellent. The pizza had a crispy crust and high quality toppings. Appetizers were not an afterthought like many places -- the stuffed mushrooms are my wife's favorite, and I liked the wings and potato skins a lot also. Prices are higher than the garbage-pizza places like Domino's or Pizza Hut, but not as high as Aurelio's or Old Town, which we also order from frequently. Delivery was prompt and courteous, though communicating with the person taking phone orders was a bit challenging. Worth it. All-in-all, we have been pleasantly surprised by this restaurant and we hope it thrives in the Villa Park location. read more

Restaurant has closed!! Besides the banquet facility, Allegra had a separate restaurant that was quite good. It was one of those little known gems you sometimes come across. I've eaten there several times. I went there on 8/4/16 and it was blacked out. The manager told me they no longer operate the restaurant.
