Well, turns out I'm allergic to that and soooo much more. The allergy testing on my back was as quick as it could be and they made sure to wipe everything off really well so I wouldn't be itchy afterward. They let me know that I could take the allergy medicine they were sending me home with and then come in the following week at any time to get my first immunotherapy shot. Even the receptionists are wonderful and explained what my insurance would cover, when I would need the shots, etc.

He recommended skin patch allergy testing to determine what she might be allergic to. This testing and analysis occurred over 3 in-office visits. In her last visit, Dr. Jantzi met with her to go over her test results. In the course of this visit, Dr. Janzti commented that thank goodness my daughter was a confident young woman because most women would not want to go out in public looking like she did. I was shocked and absolutely furious when she told me this. My daughter left extremely upset that a doctor, a so-called medical professional, would make such an insensitive, disrespectful, and demoralizing comment to their patient. My daughter has dealt with eczema her entire life and she was seeking medical advice and council from a licensed allergist because this rash that she was dealing with around her eyes was fairly recent, did not appear to be related to eczema, and we were seeking answers. Dr. Jantzi may have a medical degree that supports his medical knowledge but he clearly needs continuing education classes on patient etiquette, developing an appropriate "bedside manner" and the ability to speak to patients with empathy and proper decorum considering he is a medical professional. I do agree with one thing Dr. Jantzi stated. My daughter IS a very, strong, resilient, and capable young lady who will rise above this extremely unprofessional comment made to her. She will use this as a shining example of how NOT to treat her own patients when she begins her own medical career. But imagine if my daughter were not as strong and capable as she is. Imagine a different patient. What would your insensitive comment do to another young college student, who might not be as strong and self confident, coming to you seeking help and guidance? Young women already dealing with societal norms and pressures to look a certain way. Words matter Dr. Jantzi - DO BETTER - because what my daughter experienced was completely inappropriate and absolutely unacceptable.

However, my reason for visiting Dr. Paull wasn't for these annoying grass, tree, pollen, microscopic plant things in the air allergies. I saw Dr. Paull after my first experience with anaphylaxis shock to a single fire ant bite. If you've ever gone into anaphylaxis shock, you now that it is kind of freaky and well, unpleasant. I like Dr. Paull because not only does he practice medicine, but he also participates in research. He can talk to me in research gibberish, and it all makes sense. He doesn't treat me like a toddler (see Dermatologist Terry), and I sincerely feel that he cares about his patients. There are very few things I miss about Bryan/College Station, and Dr. Paull is one of them.

After a couple of months my blood pressure went up. I tried to get advice on what to do since several of the medications are known to raise blood pressure. After a couple of months of trying to get help from Dr. Long, my blood pressure went to a dangerous 190/120 so I went to my GP and started on blood pressure medication which had unsatisfactory side effects. Since I couldn't get help from Dr. Long I decided to end all medications. My blood pressure went back to the 120/80 range within days. Finally after 5 months of trying I got an appointment with Dr. Long. He told me that the medications he had prescribed do not cause high blood pressure and that the warning inserts on the medication were not true. I had 3 other doctors tell me that they do in fact potentially raise blood pressure and one of them Meloxicam was very dangerous and could lead to the serious rise in blood pressure I experienced and to never take it again. Dr. Long would not listen to me at all, he was so rude and dismissive that I got up and said, "we're done". His response was, see you in heaven! Of course by this time I was on one injection a month at a cost of $22.00. The bulk of the money to be made by Dr. Long off of me had passed. He raked in over $7,000.00 off of me. Because of how sever my situation had become my husband, a man of few words, went with me to this last appointment. When we walked out he said, that guy's a quack. I tend to agree. They run people through that office and are making lots of money off these allergy injections with no follow-up at all.
