Unfortunately, the current health care crisis has sent the health care system in a tizzy. It took several hours of driving around and calling local clinics to find one that would take a walk-in patient. I was lucky to find Express Med. Upon arrival, I saw a line of folks in front of the building waiting to be checked-in for testing. To my surprise, the line shortened quickly. I realized why once inside. The staff was operating like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was working efficiently while taking the time to show kindness and care to the patients. I checked in and was instructed to wait in my vehicle for a call. A few hours later, I was called in. The physician assistants were thorough and helpful. Although they were slammed with patients, everyone I encountered was cool, calm and full of positivity. It was a great experience. The clinic sits in a strip mall with plenty of parking. I found the decor so cool! There were album covers, music memorabilia and references all over the walls. There is an artificial fireplace and Motown hits being played on a television. Very soothing environment for a place that I'm sure most people visit filled with anxiety.

She takes her time with you and she doesn't want you to sit and wait. She recently made a change to her physicals policy and At first I was irritated but when it comes to it, I get it! She doesn't want to over do it and make people wait. I love this! She isn't a pill pusher which I love. She not a try this and see if it works kind of doctor. She knows her stuff! She is direct but it's what I need some times. She is like an Auntie to me. She is not afraid to call me out but in a loving i'm trying to help you kind of way. She gets to the point but supported me through my tough times. I know when I call or write her for help, she will get right on it and she knows my file. Not wanting to wait that long, I was told they had openings at the Henry Ford Medical Center in West Bloomfield for the following Monday so I decided to take it. This Medical Center is located at the southwest corner of Farmington Road and Maple Road, just after a traffic circle. Assess is easy and parking is adequate. There are other specialties resident at this location as well. As you enter from outside there are kiosks for you to do express check in if you like. I bypassed because I saw the entrance to dermatology immediately past the lobby entrance. I was quickly checked in, given a form to fill out, and sat waiting to be called. Called a different urgent care for a Covid test, they said it would cost me $200. Unbelievable.. $200 to tell me whether I'm sick or not? I'd rather quarantine at that point. Welcome to Berkley urgent care! I was recommended here by a friend and wow when I tell you how different his phone call felt. I called about a test and they took down all my information and said they would call me back about details. Within an hour a doctor called me, talked me, set up a Covid test and prescribed me medicine. Even the nurse who gave me the Covid test was so sweet. I wasn't charged a penny for my Covid test and my medicine was pretty cheap. There are angels here. I highly recommend.

I called today after reviewing my results because the test I requested was not performed. I was open to discussing it, but that didn't seem to be the case on her end. I explained that the vitamin D test drawn was not the correct one for checking deficiency--it was done correctly during my visit in 2025. She insisted it was the same test and even stated that the system we were both looking at showed the same thing, as if I did not understand what I was reviewing. However, the system clearly shows otherwise. The test that was ordered was for hormone/active vitamin D levels, not for deficiency. If this is a small mistake--and I understand that mistakes can happen--the issue for me is that there was no willingness to acknowledge or correct it. There was also no consideration that the lab itself may have made an error. It took from Saturday to Tuesday just to receive the result of one blood test. After working a 12-hour shift, I came in because I had already been told the wrong test was done. While I understand other patients need care and didn't mind waiting, I was ultimately ignored instead of having a simple conversation to address the issue. After some time, I decided to leave and go to another urgent care for more attentive and thorough treatment. These are not the same tests--they measure different forms of vitamin D--and it was frustrating to be told otherwise. Update: Hours later, I received multiple calls from the office--none from the NP I originally saw. While I was told the issue was due to the lab switching their codes, there was still no acknowledgment of how the situation was handled. Even if this was a lab-related error, it does not address the provider's lack of listening or willingness to consider that the information in the system may not have matched what she believed. I was told we were both looking at the same thing, despite pointing out clear differences. Beaumont has been Corewell, including their labs, for at least two years now, so that explanation raises additional questions. Regardless, my concern is not just about where the error originated, but the lack of accountability and communication. I would prefer not to receive repeated calls providing conflicting or inaccurate information, especially when there has been no acknowledgment of the initial concern. At this point, I have gone and received care elsewhere.
