I first spoke with Carter Budwell, he was such a delight to speak with so I wasted no time in wanting to retain his services plus to add it was a Christian legal firm. Until speaking with one of paralegalitarian and his colleague David Cassidy. Their aggressive tone used as if I was a child and not 48 years old, if I was a nobody that were gifting their services too. Having to file bankruptcy isn't an easy situation to cope with at all and to have the firm you've hired to be rude makes it even harder. Tidewater area businesses must understand that it's their customers/ clients that makes their businesses prosper. SMH... I had to end the call in Mr. Cassidy because he wanted to give me excuses and rebuttals as to why and there's nothing he could say I wanted to hear. Just a complete let down. This firm has a problem with communication and attention to detail as well as punctuality. The lawyer Showing up to court and not being prepared caused me to loose my property in which I had a title of ownership. My property was then stolen and taken to another state. Im crying as I am writing this. I spiritially felt obligated to post my experience with this firm as a warning to others. As a Christian woman I decided to go with this firm for a divorce my husband initiated along with abandoning his kids . I have paid this firm 1200.00 for a uncontested divorce that never was finished. This has been a 3 year horrific experience. The attorney appointed to me has been changed three different times to a new unexpierenced person with out me knowing until I called up to the firm to see why a simple divorce was taking so long. Not until I came back from an emergency out of town do I get any info as to what they had did. A new lawyer takes over the case and filed to be released as my attorney and the judge granted is. (OMG) This was not relayed to me at all by anyone and when I called to speak with Steve Taylor he dodges my calls. I am a single mother of 3 and was using the child support money to get the 1200.00 up that I did pay. I have been facing eviction 3 times within the last 3 years during this process and one of the lawyers knew this. This firm and the new lawyer had the nerve to try to get almost 1,000 more from me even after they dropped me. There is no Christ in this firm.... it is evident by the fruits they bare (which are none) looking at the building they run there scam in. I gave them $900 up front because that is all I had at the time and wanted to file bankruptcy. Before I paid the rest of the retainer fee I decided I did not need to file. I only got back $200. They kept the rest for just writing my name on a file and I did not submit any financial records. $700 for doing nothing. read more

Started a Will, DNR, etc in 2009. Went back for revisions, was told they would call in a week. After 4 years, I realized we never were called back. Called Suffolk office, where we had been going, asked for Mr. Powers, was told he hadn't worked there in a long time. Went to new lawyer, same group, met with Mr. Hughes. Was told wills, POA, advanced directives would be ready today, had an appt. for 3pm today. Was called today and asked if I could bring a witness, they didn't have one. Called a relative, said she could go, but when I called back was told she could not be a witness because she is executor of our will. So, never followed up with us after 4 years, cashed my 500 dollar check,e then I was called again to reschedule for next Monday. If and when I get my legal documents, we will certainly certainly choose another law firm to help us. Hope I don't die between now and next Monday. VERY dissatisfied with your services.
