The food was amazing! Service was top notch! Had the stuffed mushrooms and stuffed shrimp which highly recommend.

I think it is generous in giving a 2 star review based on my direct experience at the table of 3. My wife says her salmon was good. My son said his seafood pasta was good....but barley warm. My seafood pizza was very disappointing. The crust has got to be something premade that is purchased through a restaurant supply. The place was busy so something must be good. The tables are crammed together so that's a negative in my book. The service was almost embarrassing. We had to ask a couple times for silverware even AFTER the meal finally arrived. Those with salads had ask for their dressing.....then wait a while. I love to support local business that are not a franchise but a review of a recent experience I feel is a must. This was only the 2nd time I've been to this establishment. This was the first time in over 5 years at my son's request. To summarize my overall experience......I will not be returning. read more

What a fun place to eat! I ordered the stuffed shrimp--it had great flavor. My loaded baked potato was on the cold side, but I was the only one at our table of four who experienced that issue. Just a fluke, maybe. My husband ordered the fried shrimp, and he said they were some of the best he's ever had--nicely seasoned and lightly battered. My friend had the salmon, which was beautifully cooked, and she said it tasted great too. If loud live music bothers you, be sure to request a table in the back of the restaurant, away from the stage. Overall, this is definitely a place we'll return to! read more

My husband and I eat here often. For appetizers, I would suggest the stuffed jalapeño's, my husband likes the chicken cheese sausage. For entrees, I usually order the Mardi Gras pasta with crawfish only or the stuffed shrimp with a side order of dirty rice. My husband likes the Mardi Gras pasta or the bayou deluxe pizza. If your looking for a great steak and a casual atmosphere, this is the place. The bar is small but the bartenders, Ashley and Katrina are very engaging. They have live music at least once a week. The dining options in this region are somewhat limited, but Alligator Rays was a welcomed find when we looking for something a little more elevated to eat. The waitresses here were all super friendly, fun to talk to and attentive throughout our meal. They made some great recommendations for things to do in the area and were really sweet. We started with the alligator bites which were perfectly fried and and quite tasty. Both of us got the cajun pasta which had a healthy amount of seafood spread throughout. The bites of chicken were a little overcooked but it did not take away much from the meal. We got the cinnamon bun cheesecake to go and it was unexpectedly delicious. Awesome cinnamon crust and cinnamon swirls throughout. Wish we had ordered more! Their beer list could be a little stronger and while the meal was really good, there is some small room for improvement. Regardless, worth a stop if you're hungry in the area. read more

We were passing through this small town which doesn't have much and found this little dive bar/restaurant gem!! We loved it! So fun, live music. The service was amazing, super friendly waitress. The food was just as good. Very good prices and very good food. Lots of flavor. Not stingy portions. The oysters came 4 to an order but they were HUGE. Definitely the biggest oysters I've ever had. The alligator and shrimp were very good also. But I have to say the BEST part was the cinnamon roll cheesecake. Which we almost didn't get because we were so full but the waitress talked us in to it and o wish we got two lol. The creamiest, most delicious cheesecake I've ever had. I used to frequent Fat Tuesdays when I lived in the area. And hearing Steve Daney was chef at alligator rays I had to make a trip. Ive missed Steve's food for years. Today I ordered his mardi gras seafood pasta. 1/2 lb red shrimp, and smoked boudin. The pasta was as i remembered it. Creamy with a slight bite of spice with generous amounts of crawfish tsils, shrimp, lump crab and chicken. Perfect balance of flavor. Red shrimp is well red shrimp. Fat and plump. And his Creole mustard cajun spice blend dipping sauce is wonderful! The boudin they serve is a smoked boudin with heavy smoke flavor and a very snappy casing. The meat inside isn't over processed it has some texture to it. And comes in 2 links. For boudin lovers Do Not miss this boudin its great! Now that I know my favorite chef is back in a local kitchen I shall frequent his establishment as much as I can. read more

I got a shrimp poboy and bbq shrimp. The bbq shrimp was different than you would expect from a New Orleans establishment, but it was good. I think they used 31/35 shrimp versus jumbo shrimp (jumbo is typical for New Orleans bbq shrimp. There was no sauce in the bowl, it was more of a dry rub. But the shrimp had good flavor. The poboy bread was spot on, but they toasted it. I did not understand this. Then I had a hard time getting mayonnaise (a staple on any poboy). The shrimp used were large (jumbo or colossal), typically in New Orleans we use 31/35 or smaller. This place has potential, but in my book, they missed the mark. The boudin was good, but I do not think this is made in house. Now, they claim that the boudin comes from Scott Louisiana. So, my take would be: Lafayette is not the same cooking as New Orleans. read more

The food was delicious! Keep in mind that this is mainly a Cajun/ seafood restaurant. You also have a pizza option. I personally love the alligator pizza. The crab cakes are divine! My husband LOVES the red shrimp appetizer. Our daughter liked the seafood lasagna. The bread pudding is worth saving room for! (Ask for a scoop of ice cream on top as this is not standard.)
