If you are looking for LEGIT mexican food, skip this place. We tried calling and they didn't answer so we came in to order. We prdered the lunch enchilada which my dughter said was not good an no flavor. I ordered the sopapillas and the quesadilla fajita. For starters fajitas ALWAYS include onions and peppers... but there was literally dry flavorless chicken with some weird cheese that was nacho cheese consistensy and not good. The rice was flavorless. It seems as if they have white people cooking who dont know how to use seasoning. If you get the sopapilla, make sure that they package it up extra extra good because it is extremely messy. Food was so distasteful and not Mexican food. The red sauce tasted like pizza sauce with a hint of chili powder. The Diablo shrimp tasted like tomato sauce with adobo seasoning. None of us even my kids liked the food. Service was okay. Just employees taking orders and delivering food. Ambiance was nice. I did like the decor especially the chairs. Was in town for a music festival, and I needed something healthy-ish and vegan, so when there's a Mexican restaurant nearby I always give it a try. I got an order of veggie fajitas (no cheese or sour cream) for takeout and they got everything right in my order, even the extra tortillas that many places forget. And they were delicious! Loved the variety of veggies: onions, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms and more. If I'm ever passing this way again, I'll certainly stop again. read more

This ex-Californian grew up on Mexican food, and El Puerto was a great discovery in Arkansas. My chile relleno was done perfectly, and that's my primary gauge for a Mexican restaurant. If they can do that right, their other items are usually good, too. We found this place when nothing on I-40 appealed to us, and it was getting late. We plan to return! read more

Food and customer service gets worse every time my family goes. The guy checking people out is super rude and not friendly. My meal was all onions and rice. Didnt add queso or chicken, I'm starting to think their cook is drunk cooking. wont be going back for sure. read more

Stopped in for lunch on our way through town. We loved it! The service was great and the food was delicioso! We had spinach enchiladas. Vegetable fajitas. And vegetarian chimichanga. We stopped anymore really really hungry. Unfortunately it had been a long day and so we arrived late. This is not the time to go to this restaurant and order something that the cook doesn't know how to make. I ordered a chimichanga. Of course they're deep fat fried crispy and the menu said it had told brisket. When it arrived half of it was fajita beef that was overcooked and it was not fried ... a big blob of tortilla with cheese on it and the whole thing had been steamed. We are from out of state, traveling through, and were a little skeptical at first because you just never know. but the food was exceptional, the service was even more exceptional!! My wife's 12 oz margarita was only $6, and I had a 34 oz draft beer for $8!! The shrimp was delicious, highly recommend! I lived in Texas for over 10 years and I was so glad to get out of that state. What they call "Mexican food" is the type of swill that even prisoners in the darkest pits of some third world South American hellhole shouldn't have to choke down. I always assumed Texans just went down to Mexico, scooped some grime and sweat off the rump of the first burro they saw, brought it back, wrapped it in a tortilla shell, and called it "authentic" Tex-Mex. This little slice of South of the border is a great place to get your fill of REAL Mexican food. Plus, you get to eat in the warm comforts of Arkansas, and that's always a plus in my book. read more

Best place to eat in Ozark in my opinion. Food is always consistent. When you order the same item repeatedly coming back it's going to be just the same. The only thing I've noticed that change is there is there salsa. Sometimes it has a little kick to it and other times not. read more

After having spent the last 25 years in Texas, I'm somewhat of a Mexican food snob. IMO many places (not all, of course), north of Texas serve bland food with little spice, and pour tomato sauce in a bowl and call it salsa. So I tend to just avoid Mexican food in general when outside the state. El Puerto is much the exception. The food is great, service is friendly, and prices are low. They could improve the atmosphere a bit, as the decor is nothing to talk about, but you'll have to drive a long way from there to find Mexican food as good. read more

This place is great and cheap! Got an order of chicken fajitas, a chicken salad, and a glass of blue moon for less than $20. I eat a lot of chicken fajitas, and find that the chicken is usually very oily and kind of rubbery or not the best strips. This place had the best chicken I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Salsa is great as well. Regretfully did not get the "cheese dip", as we've heard it is great and overheard at least 3 other tables around us order it. Service is great. read more

The food is fair. Probably the best you can get in a town like Ozark. The downsides are that you are forced to see people you probably hate since this is Ozark and the servers tend to hit on you which is gross. read more

Wow it was really bright and really noisy, granted we were there on a Friday night when everyone was getting ready to go to the High School football game. The lighting is very bright and there are lots of little kids. The food was decent but not great. They serve beer and wine and a wine margarita that is ok if you like really really sweet drinks. Terrible dining experience! Table was dirty and not stable. Ordered drinks and was brought wrong drink ordered. Ordered from menu and brought the wrong order. Never could get the attention of waiter so left meal uneaten, paid out and left. Another friend dining there complained of being sick the next day after dining there. The food is very good, reasonable prices, and large portions. The service was friendly and very good. It was my first time to eat there and I was pleasantly surprised. The food could be much spicier for my taste but I understand that most people in this area do not like it hot. It is not the Tex-Mex that I love but is still very tasty. One thing that I was impressed with was how clean the place was. When going to the restroom, you can see into part of the kitchen and, even during the busy lunch run, it was very neat and clean. I took a group of 20 students here, today to practice their Spanish and eat a great meal. It was wonderful. All the meals were great and served super quickly considering the size of our group. I highly recommend this restaurant. We had a terrific experience and will return next year. read more
