Avoid at all costs. A group who was 30 minutes late was let go before us and I spent the day watching him shank balls into the woods, take a drop and repeat. Got charged 60$ for a no show even though our entire group was there. Went to the bar after the round and something was leaking in the back and service was hard to come by as they all scrambled to clean the mess. read more

I think that a lot of these reviews are out of date. The city has put a lot of money into the course in the last several years and the course is in fairly good shape. It's a good track amenities are pretty sparse right now as they are building a new clubhouse, but the golf is good. read more

I am writing to express my disappointment with the experience I had at Alling Memorial Golf Club on the mornings of June 28th and June 30th, 2025. While en route to the course, it began to rain steadily and later poured down heavily. I called to cancel, despite the rain, I was informed it was too late. As long as the course is open, you can't cancel or receive a raincheck. Additionally, on June 30th, the sprinkler system was consistently running on the fairways and greens. This was a significant distraction when I reported both situations; the staff seemed unconcerned. If there is a chance of rain, please do not book a tee time here. When possible, I will look for courses that appreciate my business. read more

I saw that you needed to pay on line this year to get a tee time ( I did ). Unfortunately I was not able to get my senior discount SO when I got to the course to play I ask for my discount since I am 73 years old and had proof of age. The person in the trailer tells me that he can't reimburse me the $ 3.00 in fact he said Everyone gets No Discount the first time they sign-up online and pay! SO Alling is screwing everyone the first time people around. I ask to speak to the manager but got an assistant who was useless and the manager never returned my many messages. Cautionary Tale! The course itself is nicely laid out and well-maintained, however, be very careful when making an on-line tee time. If the weather changes and you don't feel like golfing in the rain, you will NOT get a refund. That lesson cost my foursome $252. The course wasn't even willing to give us a rain check. It's a shame because it used to be one of our favorite courses. read more

Rudest staff I've ever seen especially the golf cart guy. The course is nice and had fun playing but ruined by the hospitality. Would recommend going to a course with friendlier staff who aren't grumpy all the time! read more

I was invited to play here for the first time yesterday and my first impression upon pulling into the parking lot was to pull right back out and leave!! The grounds in front of the pro shop/ clubhouse were deplorable-- tall grass,weeds, overgrown shrubs, busted asphalt driveway, rotten wood siding etc. I did stay and play the course which I found to be interesting and fair with some challenging par 3s & 4s. The greens and fairways were in good condition however the sand traps were awful- hard pan with virtually no sand in them at all. This course, with its layout and natural surroundings, could be an outstanding golf venue. Some effort is being made on golf course but they still have a ways to go. read more

First off they don't have women's tees. Greens r full of branches and terrible. And to top it off there r no closer tees period other than white on the fifth hole. So don't even play if ur a WOMEN apparently. Don't play period here the people were rude no grounds keepers. read more

Municipal golf course that was in pretty good shape. Greens were good for putting. Wish people would fix their hallmarks. Not a bad experience. Would play again . Staff was helpful and courteous. read more

As far as cheap public golf courses go, I have to say that this is quite a spectacular one from a challenge standpoint. Not many will start you off with a 480 yard dogleg par 4 with water in play on your drive. Not to scare you - the next 17 aren't so daunting, including the humorously short par 4 5th, which measures 256 from the tips. But further obstacles nevertheless arise, from elevation changes, to uneven topography, to large patches of heather, to tabletop and false-front greens. Speaking of which, Alling can flush two stars down the toilet for the greens. To cut them this tight is without exaggeration, a sick joke. I hit zero greens in regulation today, and I'm an 87-90 golfer. Golf in and of itself is enough of a challenge for most everyone here; to be running an 11 on the stimp [I can only assume] is just plain rubbish. Also, a minor deduction for the old and crappy clubhouse/snack bar. It's not a big deal, because the primary objective is to play golf. Still, nowadays, even the crappiest courses *coughWesternHillscough* have solid restaurants at the 19th hole. But I will be back despite the casual frustrations. Played 18 for $24 today, hard to complain about that. read more

What can one say about a muni that runs about an hour behind and so filled with players that mistaken played balls are the norm. Welcome to Alling Memorial. To start with the pro shop is staffed with grumpy old men, and if you're age is under 70 you're a youngster. The cast of characters playing the course is right out of central casting. As for the course having taken a hiatus from playing this track for a few years because I didn't enjoy it, fellow golfers kept saying I should revisit it because many improvements were made. Right off the start I remembered why I dislike this course so much too many blind carries crisscrossing fairways, terrible greens and a back nine that in a word is just stupid. The only thing going for this golf club is the price. I'd recommend skipping this track. read more

I normally play at cheaper golf courses. The course itself is decent but as we were teeing off BAM sprinkler went off. I understand that greens need to be green, but on a sunday afternoon that is not cool. I found out that the sprinklers on the greens and tees are on a timer. So we continued to either miss holes or get sprayed randomly. We stopped early. The part that gets me is I went to talk to the guy at the pro shop about this. He was extremely unapologetic, as if this happens everywhere and I should deal with it. He offered a rain check, ironic, but I am never going back. I asked if he would put a sign up, he said no because it would turn people away. Duh! They need to fix this. I would strongly recommend any other place then this to golf. read more
