Indrive did thier own diagnostics ( they could have just charged me for a new tranny right off the bat, as I told them that's what it needed) which would have been a huge chunk of change for thier shop. But after trouble shooting, the repairs actually needed were thousands less!!! In these days when everyone is struggling with insane inflation, I fully expected to be raked over the coals but I most certainly was not!!! This garage and everyone working within it is AMAZING!!! I take my car in there as recommended for upkeep maintenance and I never worry about what has to be done as they go above and beyond. They look after me, if I need parts out of regular service Mark takes the time to make the calls and gets the best deals! The mechanics are honest, efficient and check beyond the service the car is in for to make sure all is good with my vehicle! I have recently moved but will continue to bring my car to Marks, finding a reputable Service Centre that is honest and works for your best is very hard to find! He immediately started yelling at me because he thought I wanted to have the work done immediately, when I specifically told him I wanted to make an appointment for another day. I cleared that up and politely asked him to lower his voice. Normally I would not put up with someone like this who obviously in a really bad mood and took it out on a potential customer. I operate my own business and I have dealt with people like this therefore I wanted to at least give him a chance. Next I explained what I needed done and that I had already purchased the parts. I expected to pay the full shop rate for the labour. He didn't like this at all. Flying off the handle would be putting it mildly. He was livid with me! He was screaming and yelling at me threatening to charge me double and there was nothing I could do about it. He started to say "You's people ...." I felt the next words would have been racial but he paused and explained that he wanted to sell me the parts so he can charge me the markup. Originally I had purchased the parts online, and I was going to install the parts myself when I figured it was too difficult for my skill level. The one other time I visited this business I had a wonderful experience because Mark (the owner of the business) was not involved in the transaction in any way. I really feel sorry for the employees at this business having a boss who is this way. One good thing to come out of this situation is that because Mark (the owner of the business) upset me in such a way that my determination to handle the job myself in my driveway was elevated enough that I did the job myself. If I had a hoist and an oxy acetylene torch to heat the rusted bolts, the entire job would have taken me less than an hour. There is no reason for any business owner to treat potential customers this way. When I was younger I had a boss like this. He treated me well, but was very mean and disrespectful to the other employees and customers for no reason at all. After listing to him in a very bad mood like this for 30 days I just got up and said I am leaving and not coming back, I have had enough listening to you. I will never deal with Marks Auto Service ever again and I certainly will NEVER give this business my money. I run my own business and I know how to deal with people, This is what brings me more business. I typically don't believe reviews, I want to give the business a chance. Your likelihood of finding a good mechanic is not as easy as it sounds. Look no further, this is a family run business. The owner is a very competent mechanic and have every faith that you will not be disappointed with the repair or the value of their repairs. I have asked him to install numerous upgrades on the car, including extra bracing, a high performance braking system, a complete new suspension with tubular steel structural components, a high efficiency cooling system and most recently, a top-of-the line Flyin' Miata turbocharger. As often as not, Tom has said "This is a great component, but I think I can improve it." And he does. In my opinion, Tom is something of a miracle worker. I know he enjoys an opportunity to put his considerable expertise and skills to work and it really shows. He has contributed enormously to transforming a lovely but modest little car into a special and unique super car.
