She was prescribed Norco and Gabapentin to manage post-surgical pain, which left her in a weakened state, and she was discharged to a rehabilitation facility of our choosing. After touring several facilities from Providence's recommended list, we selected Beachside Post Acute. We chose Beachside because we needed a facility that specializes in both physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT). It's a cozy, thoughtfully designed property in a breezy part of Torrance, conveniently located near both Walgreens and CVS. The building appears to have been a converted motor lodge, with a single-level layout that wraps around a central outdoor courtyard. This design allows each room to have either a window or sliding glass door, providing natural light and fresh air--something we found especially valuable. The PT staff have access to a dedicated room with specialized equipment, and both the main corridor and courtyard are used for assisted therapy sessions. There's also a recreation room and dining area where patients can enjoy meals outside their rooms, offering a welcome change of scenery. The kitchen serves nutritious, genuinely tasty meals--I can personally attest to that. What truly sets Beachside apart is the staff. They are compassionate, attentive, and clearly take pride in their work. To those who may read this--Susan, Marisol, Julius, Eva, Kimberly, Bryan, Alyssa, and everyone else--thank you. You made a difficult experience far more manageable, and we are deeply grateful.

The nursing staff is attentive - at least from what I can tell when I'm there. They have a activity room and a calendar of events is posted in the front by lobby. One poor thing about Beachside are returning calls they don't even if you get someone to take a message. Nobody seems knows how to use their voice mail. The best way to reach someone is to get them during business hours or show up on site. Don't expect a return call if you get routed to voice mail.

For those two weeks I worried about several things, but I didn't have to worry about my wife's care. I would gladly recommend Brightstar based on my experience and kudos to Hanna for her excellent care and Heather for understanding what we needed and making it happen given the time challenges.

Prerequisite was he had a bowel movement with in the last two days, could be safely discharge from hospital and find safe transportation from Paso Robles to Gardena. I was not informed there would be no Physical Care, scheduling and advocacy for admitting patient during the weekend. The long 5 hour drive was painful and uncomfortable for my husband Upon arrival an assistant picked up my husband and plopped him into a wheelchair. With total disregard to the hip pain and surgery my husband had undergone, or to allow my husband to exit the car on his own with some assistance. There was no pillow or blanket on his bed. I went and purchased food for my husband to eat. Only pain medication available was Tydonal until after medical evaluation on Monday afternoon. It was 6:30 pm Saturday. Staff seems to be over worked and under staffed on weekends. The room my husband was placed in, had 4 beds two were already occupied. The room had a strong stifling odor of urine and smelly wet sheets. By 8:45pm, my husband called and asked to be picked up and I took him home. RCC was not prepared for caring for my husband's physical needs, pain management, wound care and wellbeing after his surgery and long transportation to an aftercare facility.

If there was a problem, it was quickly resolved. The rehab department and Manny did a great job. Manny worked with my mother and checked on her regularly. He was flexible with the physical therapy schedule to accommodate her needs (if she was tired or not feeling good). The Director of Nursing was always available and super kind. I would recommend Harbor Post-Acute Care Center for anyone who needs a little extra assistance and care. My mother also asked me to write this post as she is very happy about the care she received. She would very much like to thank the staff and show her appreciation for all their assistance during the time she stayed with them for her rehab.

My father was a patient there and the nightmare we experienced was to this day still traumatic…read more There are so many instances of abuse and neglect but just a few to mention. I'll start this all with the fact that my father was not ambulatory meaning he was bed bound. The nurses regularly unplugged his call light because according to what some of the nurses said to my father "he called too much". Mind you the only reason he called was to be adjusted because of the severe pain of being stationary for hours on end. Then there was the time that I purchased a new phone for him only for it to be stolen and when I spoke with the social worker in the office I was told " he must have misplaced it " again my dad was not an ambulatory and unable to leave the bed so I don't know how he could possibly have misplaced his phone. Thankfully that came to a resolution only when the state was doing their yearly evaluation and was unsatisfied with the way things were handled. Next there was the time he was dropped coming from the shower and had a fracture in his shoulder. I wasn't told about that until he came back from the hospital the next day. When I went to the meeting with the staff to discuss his care I questioned them about how the injury occurred and they gave me some ridiculous excuse about bone density and being turned over in bed. What they failed to realize is that my brother had been visiting that day and helped pick my father up off the floor. When I asked about an incident report as I'm sure all facilities have to do legally whenever something like this occurs they had no report to show. I remember visiting him one day in particular and noticing his teeth hadn't been brushed and he told me not to alert the staff but just to wait to see how long it took them. I finally caved after 4 days and when I brought this to the attention of the director of the facility she gaslit me into thinking his teeth have been brushed that morning when his mouth was full of plaque and food. Ultimately and unfortunately he aspirated on food and developed pneumonia and secondary infection from a bed sore that again wasn't brought to my attention. He passed in 2021 and some days I think perhaps his death was preventable. Not to mention the fact that 90% of the clothing I purchased him on top of the $900 wheelchair were stolen and given to other patients. He said to let the clothes go to those who need them but I fought for the wheelchair because that was something he desperately needed. It was found in another patient's room by the way even with my father's name written on it, they still gave it to somebody else. I don't know if this is policy either but every time I came to take money out of my father's account for his personal needs I was told to wait so many days to cash the check. I assume if the funds are in the account they should be available to access whenever. So between the theft of clothing, jewelry, phone and medical equipment and the lack of attentiveness and at some point the blatant omission of letting the family know of medical issues, I would say seek treatment elsewhere of your loved ones.

I am visually impaired, all kind of random people come in and out of my door because they say I cannot lock my door for safety yet if one of the crazy patients comes in, I'm supposed to be OK with that because of having been manipulated to be very kind and compassionate to people who should really have been euthanized..
