We hired Ziba one month ago to provide hospice care for my dad in his final weeks. He was cared for by the Ziba team in a way that totally surpassed all of our expectations. From the beginning, each and every interaction we had with the Ziba team was professional, competent, and above-all, completely full of heart. Instead, it seemed like they were an extension of our own family the way that they cared for my dad. I am enormously and forever grateful for the extraordinary care my beautiful mother received from ZIBA Hospice. My mother transitioned so peacefully just a few days ago, and no greater comfort could've come from anyone other than the ZIBA Hospice team. Throughout a long and slow debilitating decline over many years, I had dealt with other hospices and been sadly disappointed... often feeling as though my mom was just one of many, and compassion was a commodity that was hard to come by. By the grace of God, a home health doctor encouraged me to seek out ZIBA, and my faith in the mission of compassionate commitment to patient care was restored. Into my mother's life came truly exceptional and loving individuals .... Cora & Joey, Dr. Baculi, Cheryll, Jovanne, Rose, Ann, Robin, Beth, Renee, along with many other cherished nurses who appeared at any and all times during on-call hours. My mother's path in hospice care was a winding road, wrought at times with acute situations, and many times, to put it simply, with remarkable yet unexpected stability. But, that was my mother ... despite her condition, despite reaching bedridden status, despite becoming non-verbal, despite her body failing her ... despite it all, she was a fighter, and she knew she was blessed in the genuine selfless care she was receiving by the ZIBA angels who always brought comfort to her. Long beyond the expected timeline for hospice services, ZIBA never ever ever gave up on her ... never diminished their level of loving care and compassion, never grew complacent. This was such a gift, not only for my mother, but for me ... and I am eternally grateful. I have a special note about Jovanne ... As my mother's case manager and RN, Jovanne led an exceptional team with grace and wisdom ...calmly ascertaining every situation, considering all options, and educating me along the way. Her gentle nature and beautiful heart guided and supported us every step of the way, and especially when I was fearful of what the changes in my mom's condition meant. I knew very early on that she was heaven sent. Every single person on the ZIBA team consistently went above and beyond, and my wish would be for them to be recognized as the absolute BEST, because they are. Everyone, from the owners to the volunteers shared a common attribute ... a HEART OF GOLD that was second to none. In my mother's final days, when she no longer desired food or water, Jovanne arranged for exemplary continuous care nurses (Linda, Jeny and Irene) who sat bedside with me, taking vitals & monitoring every change with such respect, dignity and compassion. If you are looking for a caring and compassionate hospice team to support you and your loved one through the last phase of his/her life journey, I highly recommend Ziba Hospice. I have been looking after my aunt (almost 95 and was at a nursing home, after a stroke, in Torrance) remotely. At the beginning of this month, she had an episode that landed her in a hospital. I wanted to have her discharged back to the nursing home with a hospice care and was told that the nursing home routinely works with a large national hospice. I preferred a smaller local hospice and found Ziba Hospice on Yelp. It was a Saturday, but I was able to talk to a nurse & the Administrator and completed the paperwork. They then supplied extra data the nursing home requested before signing the contract. The whole team gave me and my aunt the priceless gift of their time and kind/compassionate care, taking care of tasks I could not perform due to my not being there, and keeping me updated of her status on an ongoing basis. My aunt passed away last Sunday. I am very grateful that she and I experienced the calm/compassionate presence and support of the Ziba Hospice team during the last part of her journey. read more

I am a retired Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse. I am observing several Community Hospice Programs that care for residents in my son's assisted living facility. I have been very impressed with the skills, knowledge and responsiveness of the staff at Zika Hospice. I have worked with Vitas, Trinity and other well known Hospice agencies. I requested an inservice for staff at the Facility and listened as Nurse Jovann provided an excellent overview as well as a detailed, patient specific class. Beth, the bath aide is a gem and can work miracles. There are other staff who are wonderful and skilled as well. There are many new Hospice Agencies; but I have been most impressed with Ziba. read more

My family highly recommends Ziba Hospice, under the strong, compassionate, and seasoned leadership of owner/RN Cheryll. She took my initial call as we were entering a weekend and showed up in person at my parents' home at 8pm on a Friday night, when we finally transferred my father home from the ICU. She had all of the equipment needed there within just a few hours and was able to secure 24/7 staff through the weekend. My father needed additional equipment and assistance breathing in the middle of the night and an RN arrived that night at 2am. My mother had been taking care of my father for six months without much assistance and was exhausted. Having Ziba staff there allowed her, and all of us, to get much-needed sleep so we could make critical decisions with clearer heads and spend our time focused on providing comfort and saying goodbye. Cheryll was calm and supportive and provided very clear options and recommendations for compassionate care...we felt like she was part of the family that week. We knew she was listening carefully to us. She offered a lot of advice that was helpful and came up with a plan together with their doctor for medications and actions to minimize pain and discomfort and fear for my father. She was there each day for a while, we never felt like she was in a hurry. Grant was there with us during the day most of the week and present when my father passed. He had personal experience and was generous in sharing (after asking first). Grant comforted us, especially through some terrifying moments. He had some very useful advice and we appreciated his presence and help. He was quiet and tried to allow family our space to be with my father. It was particularly important to us that Grant and Cheryll and Denzel (who was there evenings) explained everything they were doing both to my father (even while it was unclear what information he could process) and to us before touching my father or doing anything, including taking temperature, washing, turning, and providing suctioning/breathing assistance. We appreciated that because my father, when coherent, wanted to know exactly what nurses were doing and why...and a few hospital nurses he had were not great at that. He did not like surprises or sudden movements. Ziba staff seemed to have specific training to do this and were very thoughtful. Grant identified when my father was getting close to leaving this world and made sure that everyone in the house knew quickly so we could be there with him. There were other companies I interviewed, and I'm so glad that we went with Ziba Hospice! read more

I want to start off by saying that I never thought I would find myself in a position of needing to secure hospice care. My mother went into the hospital with severe back pains and was advised 4 days later after a multitude of tests that she had bone & liver cancer, which she will not recover from. This of course came as a shock to our family and we were advised of this on the long Labor Day holiday. The hospital provided us with some hospice contacts, and I decided to research them on Yelp. Only one of the companies was listed and it did not have good reviews. I called instead two of the best reviewed on Yelp and waited for either of them to return my call, keep in mind this was a holiday weekend. The first one I called took several hours to call me back, but Cheryl at Ziba phoned me within the hour and I decided to utilize their services. I can not begin to say how grateful I am to have connected with Ziba, every single person I have dealt with has been caring, understanding and have guided me & my mother in the right direction. Cheryl was in contact with me the entire holiday weekend and connected me with Christina, who is amazing as well. We were able to find a beautiful board & care facility with Cheryl's help for my mother. They have taken care of all of my mother's needs and I honestly do not think that I could have made it through without Cheryl, Christina, Kristy (her amazing nurse) and Kelly, her social worker. All of these beautiful women have made this process bearable and my family & I can not thank them enough! read more

Thank you so much for the last 2 days my grandma was able to have your guys help unfortunately the other hospice service was only trying to kick out my grandma from the rehab center she was at and I had to make action and moved her ASAP to another hospice! Christina took my call on a very early morning as I was frantically looking for hospice care. I can't thank her enough for patiently educating me on our government system care assistance programs and hospice options. She lead me towards the right direction. Unfortunately I couldn't use her services because my dear beloved Cousin (He passed away that morning 2/11/17) didn't have Medi-Cal or Medi-Care. My Dad was in a board and Care facility in Lomita for two months after having a stroke. He just passed away Sunday, May 25th. Family members don't need to think or worry about the care and treatment for one of their loved ones last days on earth. With Ziba that was not the case at all. They were a great help. Ziba was incredible. They were all so friendly and "really" cared about my Dad and immediate family. My Mom was in the house next door and they visited her also. I got to meet Cheryl in the office and she was great. The Nurse Jovanne was a blessing. She answered all of my questions and when I ask her a couple days before he died, I asked her if "my Dad is dying" She said yes and came and gave me a big hug. As an RN, being on the receiving side of healthcare is never easy because we know what can go wrong quickly, complications that arise suddenly and delays of care whether in an acute setting or at home on hospice. I chose Ziba because....#1 I didn't feel comfortable with the options given to us while my grandfather was still hospitalized since I knew of how things worked with them from dealing with them in the past for my patients and #2 I researched numerous local hospice companies and finally decided on Ziba after talking with Cheryll who basically answered every single one of my questions without hesitation and stayed over hours to make sure we were all set. Every base was covered from a bath aide to LVN and RN visits, social worker, anointing from their priest, MD visit, medication and supply drop off and a 24 hour continuous care nurse at the very end. They were always in contact asking what we needed or even just a quick hello was a text or phone call away. Before my 96 year old grandfather passed, he said this was the best healthcare he's received in his life and was so grateful for everyone's help. They also gave my family peace of mind knowing that we were not alone and stood by us to get through one the toughest times in our lives. So thank you to everyone at this wonderful company. This review is long overdue. I'm a little embarrassed, but better late than never? I hope so. If you are looking for hospice care for your loved one, look no further. Ziba gave my husband excellent care. I highly recommend them. After a nightmare experience with another hospice organization (St Joseph's) they came in and made such a difference! I never had to beg for help (yes, that happened), they were right there seeing to everything he needed. They are what I thought hospice was supposed to be. Kind, caring, and attentive to my husband's needs as well as being thoughtful to me and our family. It's been almost a year, but I haven't forgotten. They gave us 24 x 7 care and allowed me and our family to stop being caregivers and just spend his last hours together. Such a comfort! They made sure he was comfortable - not in pain. Very organized administratively! They ordered & brought in all equipment and supplies quickly and efficiently. Any time I hear someone is needing hospice I tell them to call here. Cristina is so kind and helpful - all the nurses in our home were amazing. Even after he passed I received letters from them with very helpful information from time to time.
