My daughter's 2008 Audi A3 would not start due to an ignition switch issue in the steering column because the key would not turn. Once we got the car to start, it would not turn off. I started looking on Google for nearby repair shops that work on foreign cars. I called and explained the situation to Keith. He was familiar with the problem and said it was a common issue in the older cars. Keith knew we were in a predicament and offered to help us right away even though we didn't have an appointment. Keith was able to turn off the car and diagnose the issue. He provided us with a couple repair options (new or used parts) with his recommendation and estimate. We went with new parts and the car was ready the next day. Keith even offered to come pick my daughter up with the car and bring her back to the shop. After leaving she noticed the air bag light was on and went back to shop. Without hesitation, Keith took the car back and resolved the issue next day. I was really impressed when Keith called a few days later to check on the car and said to let him know if there are any more issues related to the repair and that he would stand by his work. Needless to say, I am very impressed by Keith and his customer service / communications and will call on him again for future repairs. Thank you very much !!! I called them the same day and Mark told me to bring my truck over the next day and they did a complete inspection and found nothing wrong which I was not surprised, but yet I always try to play to the side of caution. I had unfortunately met not one honest car repair mechanic in my lifetime before I met Mark , the owner of Allstar. Mark is highly knowledgeable, intelligent, decent & polished, and most important of all, honest. When I discuss a car issue with Mark, I get the feeling I am talking to a friend I can totally trust. All the mechanics that work here are this way, probably due to the excellent work culture Mark has established. Pricing is competitive. They only take on work they can do in a day, do the work in a timely manner (without making you wait hours and hours like some repair shops do), and do it well. After taking my car here, I will be very uncomfortable taking my car elsewhere. I truly don't believe there is another car repair shop in McHenry county which is as good as this one. read more

Honestly, the best mechanic I've ever been too. I was referred by the Church staff and dentist office in Marengo. Mark and his team are incredible. He's honest, kind and moral. He is completely helpful. Fair prices and excellent work. Mark spends time to talk out all options with you. Honestly, the best mechanic team I've ever had. He stands behind his word and work. I've been a customer here for almost a decade, but I am FIRMLY committed to no longer doing business with anywhere that charges this 3% fee instead of simply including it in their prices. Also, the 3% surcharge is not mentioned anywhere on the written estimate I was given, and wasn't point out until after the work was done and I was about to pay. Then, after I indicated that I wasn't happy, I was told by the guys working the desk that EVERY shop in the area is doing this. So I decided to call, and after 5 shops that are all within 1 mile of this shop, literally NONE of them are doing this. Don't get me wrong. I like the guys at Douglas. But Even more than that, I really don't like being lied to. I won't be going back.
