They were able to get me a time within a few days. Michael Morgan was my inspector. He more than met my expectations. I got an amazingly specific report along with photos of each item. I was able to talk to him for a little bit during the inspection, but I ended up having to leave. I called the next day to get some additional information and he was happy to help. He was able to help me identify what things were a priority, and what things were just surface items. The information was concise and very helpful. They had a special going and I felt I got a really good price for all the work that they did. A solid three hours. It's also nice to have a link with a lot of photographs of my new home. Believe me, you need all the hard cash you have for the house, and other inspectors we interviewed only took cash/checks. As a first-time home buyer, I had not anticipated how tight the deadlines are in the process. I told Allen my 'inspection objection' deadline and he immediately was able to tell if he was available to meet that deadline or not. I did not have to wait for a call-back like the first two inspectors I interviewed. Time is of the essence when buying a house! (..and yes, I interviewed several inspectors on the phone! This is a BIG deal - don't scrimp) He inspected the home we made an offer on and was very professional, thorough, and informative. We ended up with a laundry list of items of concern, and when we asked his advice told us how he would prioritize to the seller. He wrote up and printed a hard copy of his report on the day of the inspection and loaded up his photos to my jump drive so I didn't have to wait. Therefore I was able to send our objections to the seller far in advance of the deadline. Aside from the whole house inspection, we also requested radon testing. Allen uses a method the EPA uses instead of a grab sample or canister method. Not only did Allen do the final walk-through with us, he also spent time answering our questions without acting in a rush and going into further detail when he noticed we didn't quite understand. His inspection report claimed the boiler and heating system on the property was in good shape when in fact it was covered in corrosion and not up to code. Within two months of purchasing the property that was inspected by him I was hit with an unexpected $10,000 bill to replace the boiler and bring the heating system up to code. He almost let me buy a home that was falling apart because in his words "your real estate agent would've killed me if I told you my opinion". And then he missed that my entire electric was not grounded and the meter was replaced without a permit. This was evident when I had an electrician come out, he was shocked that Marshall missed this because the grounding wire was clearly unattached to anything. Upon emailing Marshall and letting him know of this dangerous miss on his part, he proceeded to call out how he said the box wasn't labeled....that has nothing to do with the fact that the grounding wire in front of his face was not connected to anything. Marshall is mediocre inspector with poor customer service and poor attention to detail. Avoid him if you can. He's a "gold" verified inspector, which means nothing given the shoddiness of his work. I asked him for a reimbursement because of the extremely dangerous miss and he said it's past the 6-month refund policy....now that's terrible customer service on top of a sh**ty job.
