Always a pleasure to deal with as the staff is courteous, professional and always responsive to my questions/concerns. More importantly they stay on top of your policies and they are always looking to save you money. I have never had to submit a homeowners claim but this past December a tree fell through my roof doing damage to the roof, kitchen area, sidewalk and other areas. Having heard nightmare stories from friends regarding homeowners' claims, I contacted Spirit immediately regarding my policy. Without hesitation they started the process rolling. Within two days the adjuster was there and the staff at Spirit stayed on top of the claim process with the end result being a fair and reasonable settlement. I could not recommend this company any more highly.

I think he's a nice guy…read more The bad: Scott's profession has no fiduciary duty, so I won't blame Scott alone, but he put me in investments that included "revenue shares" (read kickbacks) to him because they had very high expense ratios that cut into my investments. I wasn't aware at the time. In all, Scott recommend that I pay funds very high premiums that under performed the market. I would have been better off just indexing (like all of us). Stay away. Side note. If you don't know what an expense ratio is, I recommend googling it and making sure that you don't allow anyone to put you in any investment with an expense ratio over .3.

After almost 30 years of being a customer of Luke DeNapoli Nationwide Ins. Agency, I had my auto…read moreins lapse, without the ability to be reinstated. I had to shop new auto ins., and eventually had to pay double due to having the lapse. The reason it lapsed? Every month I had my (then trusted) insurance agents make the payment on my behalf, using the stored method of payment I gave them. Apparently one particular month, they used a two year old debit card (which account was closed over a year and 1/2 ago) to make the payment, rather than the method they had used consistently for over a year 1/2! They left me a voicemail saying my pymt was declined, and after getting the message that night I called the bank the next day (because I did not see why it would be declined). Never would I imagine the reason it was declined was due to them putting through payment on a very old card. Of course this was on a Friday when I spoke to the bank, and when the agency was open again it was Monday, two days too late for the timely payment and my policy lapsed. I then called Nationwide HQ and told them of the situation. After I was told that all it would take was a call from the Agency to say that it was their error, I called Luke DeNapoli right away, and was told that they would call HQ. After following up minutes later with HQ, I was then blindsided by them telling HQ that it was NOT their fault. And HQ said that no matter what, the word of the agent is what they go by, and even if the Agency called again to try to reverse/correct what they said, HQ goes by what they initially say and what is done is done. My insurance was cancelled for good. They would not write me another policy (it is their policy that it must be a year after a lapse) and because the whole ordeal took 5 days to straighten out, I had insurance lapse for 5 days. This cost me $75 per day for the lapse with NYS DMV, it also cost me double for a new policy with a new ins company, due to having a lapse in coverage. They cost me hundreds of dollar at that point, and hundreds per year going forward. I also looking into changing my home owners insurance policy, of course because of the auto ins situation, but also because my parents (also long time customers) had been charged more than double they found out for their HO Ins. I went from paying $2642 per year with Nationwide to $1460 per year with Geico. I didnt change earlier because every time I asked my agents why my insurance went from $1200 with my first home to $2642 with my new one (same Sq Ftg) they said because the rates are increasing, I have claims, there are hardly and companies writing HO Ins on LI any more...things of that nature. I was scared! Now, after being screwed by them (again, after almost 30 yrs of being a customer, and most of my family members too!), I am so glad I changed to Geico. I have nothing against Nationwide per say, it is Luke DeNapoli, and his son Michael that took over, that I have the BIGGEST problem with. What personal, kind, trusting service for such a small community as East Northport. I will never understand why they did not defend the truth, that it was their error, not only to be honest but to save a customer of almost 30 years! What the heck did a loyal customer like myself do to deserve being screwed by this lousy agency??? Luke...sorry your son Michael will be running all of your hard-earned business right out the door...if he continues to be an A** to his customers. Shop around everyone! They are way over-priced I am now sadly finding out....and I guess in the end they did me a favor by screwing me....at least I am paying a lot less now!

They literally hung up on my father 6 times in row. I personally went there and was greeted by their Vice President Gary Smith. I asked him for copies of my parents polices. He screamed at me, pointed his finger in my face and spitted at me. I understand this is a rough industry, but to deal with you clients this way is unacceptable. I would not recommend them to anyone, not even my worse enemy. One star is not even indicative of what they deserve. I will be filing a complaint with the companies they represent as well as with the Department of Insurance. Nobody deserves to be treated as I just was.
