I guess I could've managed the process even though it's set up is horrible, but what made it even worse is the rudeness of this agent. I would recommend finding a different agent as this gentleman is very hard to discuss any kind of problems you may have with your insurance. he likes to blame the customer which is just not good business. This past weekend, my wife and I were looking at cars and it took much longer than expected. Upon finally agreeing upon the contract with the dealership, I noticed it was hours past Brians's office hours (on a Saturday). Feeling dejected we couldn't walk out with the car, I emailed him with the expectation of him responding on the following Monday. Within 30 minutes, he got me setup with a new car policy, a rate, and I was able to walk out with the car. A little about my background: I moved to Illinois back in 2010 after accepting a job offer. I came upon Brian after reading good reviews about him. Fast forward to 2020, he's been my agent through my first car purchase, my engagement ring coverage, my dog insurance, my first home purchase, and now my wife's car purchase. You can say he's been at my every major life milestone. A good insurance agent is there for you when you need them the most. I started working with them over the summer. At that time, I wanted to make sure that I was paying estimated taxes correctly. Soon after my first meeting, I had an unexpected need to liquidate investments that left me with large capital gains. I received advice about adjusting estimated tax payments to reflect this, which I followed. Early this year, they handled my federal and state tax returns. To say there were mistakes would be an understatement. I ended up having to use one of the online tax prep programs, print out that information, and bring it in so that my return could be completed correctly. None of the information that I had provided over the summer was taken into account - I'm pretty sure that, despite conversations with them and a rather unique name, they have two separate files for me and think that I am two different people. Then I got a letter from the state informing me that they were penalizing me for incorrectly paying estimated taxes. Since my income was not consistent, due to the large capital gains received over the summer, they should have completed a specific form. This form had not been completed. I contacted the office and was told that it was MY responsibility to complete this form - it was not something that they would do for me. You would think that, given the fact that I had to provide them with a completed draft return and they failed to file the correct forms, there would be some sort of concession on fees. Not so - between what I paid over the summer and what I have been billed for the spring, they are getting over $1000. I suppose I should consider this a bargain - if I hadn't done all of the work myself, I would have lost over $3000 in refunds! Needless to say, they will not be preparing my returns in the future.

Patrick put the wrong PIN on my 2018 IL-1040 for Property Tax Credit. He used my income property…read morePIN, instead of my principal residence. There should have been no confusion as I sold my income property and had all those documents separated for him. However, as a result, I received a return correction notice zeroing out my $600+ credit. I called Patrick to correct his mistake and he directed me to work with the Dept. of Revenue directly to provide what they are looking for. Now, they are saying I can only claim part of the credit because I bought the house in 2017. Reading online, it looks like I'm eligible for the credit on my sold property too. 6 months later, I still need to submit new documents and figure this out myself. Isn't that what I paid him for? By the time this is over, I will have spent countless hours on this over 8-10 months to fix his simple mistake. I think he knows what he's doing but he is working too fast and is prone to mistakes as a result. Then you're on your own to fix his mistakes.
