Another unique service they have provided is that, when I tell them I want a change in coverage, Camra or John will caution me and even contradict me where I may ignorant of a misstep. I ended up being put in touch with Scott Wooster who had a very thorough and fun conversation with me where he learned about my insurance needs and situation. I responded to an email so he could review my whole picture that afternoon. The following morning I had a very detailed email with his thoughts. He recommended I stay with my current insurance carrier but then proceeded to suggest ways to reduce my premium there. I did those things that dramatically increased my coverage and reduced my total premiums by about 20%. I can't recommend FirstMark and Scott more. In the future I will be able to change my coverages and Scott will be the first one I call when that day comes.

What was not disclosed was that I also needed to have a bank account on file for autopay in order to avoid extra fees. A month later, I received an email saying I still had a balance because of this hidden requirement. This was never communicated upfront, and I only found out after being charged unnecessarily. I have never had an agent do this before. Now I have to spend my own time fixing something that should not have happened in the first place. While the agent said she can remove the fee, the lack of transparency and the hassle it has caused me is unacceptable. I had hoped to be a long-term customer, as I was with my American Family agent back in Minnesota, but after this experience I will be switching agents when my policy is up. My home's roof is fairly new and has no missing shingles. I responded to this false claim, requesting that they look into their error. Instead, I was asked for proof of the roof's condition. The burden of proof is not on me. Travelers was more than welcome to come inspect my roof and determine why such an outrageous and clearly false claim was made, but they did not. I cannot remain a customer with a company that treats its customers like this. If I ever needed to file a claim, I can't imaging the battle that would ensue to force them to pay. Because of this blatant, unprofessional mistreatment, I have switched to the competition.

I received only reactive service from this Matthew Ulrich's Allstate agency - only when I contacted them. The agency never proactively provided any information to help me ensure my insurance needs were met, outside of the regular bills and policy documents from Allstate. Calls to the agency are routed through Allstate's automated system where you leave a voicemail. The agency may not return calls for several days. When I got the agency to review my policies after I questioned double digit premium hikes, they kindly worked with me to find and correct errors and outdated information in the policies, and to adjust the coverage. This included terminating unnecessary coverage I should have never had (like being insured for more than the replacement value of a property, insuring ancillary buildings which don't exist, or insuring contents of a rental property that belong to tenants). These changes helped, but the Allstate offer was still substantially uncompetitive.
