My late Father Malcolm Saunders preferred Farm Bureau's product. they offer one of the best life insurance plans I have ever known of. My Son is carried on my policy. He had a accident which totaled his car. He hit a neighbors mailbox one morning as he was trying to pick up a co-worker in the rain. He hydroplaned Into a neighbors mailbox. We were grateful that only his car was involved. Our neighbor accepted our offer to replace his mailbox. We handled our neighbors damages out our pocket. So insurance paid him the value for his Infinity G37. Our Insurance tripled. We could no longer afford State Farm. I recalled my Fathers faith in Farm Bureau. I called Farm Bureau & was introduced to Steve Brandenburg. He assured me that he would work diligently to get us at a tolerable rate. Mr.Steve did exactly that. He got us coverage we could still afford. Fast forward 18 months, Allstate offered me what I thought was very comparable insurance but also included accident forgiveness. I switched to Allstate without discussing with Steve. Once Steve discovered my policies were canceled he reached out to see what the driving factor was for my change. He explained they also offered accident forgiveness. I could tell Steve still wanted to help me. I told him at this point it was too late to undo my change. His words were "Miss Cathy we try to treat our clients like family". Even though he knew I was switched at this point he still cared enough to let me know many insurance companies will give a super low quote to win your business. Be aware at policy renewal for a price increase. I appreciated his honesty & advice. His words about treating their clients like family was really hitting home with my emotions. I simply asked him if Allstate ends up doing this would he still consider writing for me again. His reply proved to me that I was already considered as family. Feeling bad over not giving him the opportunity to keep my business was bringing me down. I decided to write him a well deserved apology for my actions & once more asked would he take me on as a client if needed. His reply gave me comfort in knowing he was not mad at me. I could honestly tell it was about keeping their clients close & was definitely not about the commissions. Fast forward six months at policy renewal I saw the writing on the wall. It read like this. Sucker. I had been sucked in as a consumer. Definitely not treated as family with Allstate. I called my agent for an explanation since we had not had any tickets or accidents. I was fed some B_ _ _ S_ _ _ implying my age of 61 was a driving factor for the increase. I was so convinced about what my Insurance man had shared with me I had to let them know I was no slow leak. I shared with them exactly what I had been warned of. Suddenly the line was total silence. It felt good knowing I had stood up for myself & also was standing up for a very professional & family oriented Insurance Agent. The old quote of the grass is not always greener on the other side proved to be so so true. I am grateful for all the knowledge Mr. Steve has shared with us as well.
