I'm allergic to dogs and was really sad to see this as I won't be coming back to this store. It not universally positive to subject your customers to dogs during their shopping experience. I don't see people bringing in their cats, rabbits or other pets. It seems to be a dog owner thing to feel that their need to have their dog close usurps all.

I've bought from their catalog for years, and was thrilled to see them open a shop in Madison. And after my first visit, it looks like they've done it right. The retail store has limited space, so this fall they've concentrated on their basic and cold weather items. The space is no-frills attractive, the layout more browsable than tightly organized. Staff were friendly and helpful, but didn't hover. The woman who waited on me showed up every so often to put my stuff in a fitting room and answer questions; other than that, she let me do my thing. Both clerks present that day knew the merchandise. This is not a cheap place to shop. A top may cost $50, a pair of pants or sweatshirt $75, and outerwear more like $100. What you get for that is a well-made item that's both functional and attractive, made for movement, and in many cases suitable for athletic, outdoor use. They're well-sewn, using technical fabrics and other synthetics, as well as some cotton and wool. They will also help you with items from the mail-order catalog, if you want to order something that's not in the store, or have a problem or return. I have been happy with 95% of what I've ordered from them for the past five years or so. Having the store is even better, because it takes out the guesswork.

They don't hawk you for sales and let you be after telling you about the specials. There is usually someone to help you in the dressing room to get another size if needed or if you allow, to make sure you are being fitted correctly. I like Soma's bras for its simplicity and quality. They aren't screaming **** me, but more like, I'm here to support you and make your day better. There are styles with touches of lace, quite a bit with push-ups, and a variety of colors that can make you feel beautiful. I've bought items online and have made returns with some ease. They don't allow returns on washed items and I've had one person get snippy at me for folding the bras in half in the return bag. It messes up the structure of the bra so she said. Join their email list and you'll get Love Soma Rewards promotions. The last time I went, I didn't know it but I had 20% off (clearance included) and came away with two bras for under $20.

This is more of a review of Marmot than of Fontana Sports. I bought my first Marmot down jacket…read morehere, and it lasted almost twenty years before the zipper broke. It kept me so warm and toasty in the brutal upper Midwest winters. I discovered the Marmot brand here in the 1990s. Back in the 1990s, Patagonia was not considered as "technical" and as bougie as Marmot and The North Face. Arcteryx either didn't exist or was an obscure brand almost thirty years ago. Now, Patagonia and Arcteryx are off-the-charts insanely priced. Marmot and The North Face are considered "value" brands. In any case, I still buy Marmot; it's better quality and far better value than Patagonia because: 1. Higher down fill power and 2. Higher down fill weight I recently bought a 700-fill down parka from Marmot with 220 grams of down for far less money than a 600-fill down parka with 150 grams of down from Patagonia. I was cold in the Patagonia parka, and it was horribly expensive. I had to return. I also bought coats from Eddie Bauer and from L.L. Bean. Nowhere nearly as warm as Marmot. The Marmot down parka that I recently bought is called the Montreaux Coat, and I've yet to find a warmer coat at such a great price point. It hits my knee, although it's supposed to hit my calf, so that's a bit misleading on their website. It's closer to parka length than coat length. I like that when the zipper broke after almost twenty years of owning my first Marmot down jacket, I called Marmot's Customer Service, they sent me a shipping label, and they said that they would gladly repair the zipper for me, for free. When they couldn't repair the zipper, they just sent me a new Marmot down jacket. So, I wore that complimentary replacement jacket for another ten years before finally buying the Montreaux coat this year almost thirty years after buying my first Marmot down jacket from Fontana Sports.

There was one girl at the front desk who seemed to be the outcast of her group of employees. The clothing was in total disarray; half on the floor half hanging off hangers and just looked bad....Goodwill looks better than Forever 21 on this day. We did find some unmentionables to try in so we headed to the dressing room. Mistake # 5. This girl had her headphones on and looked as messed up as the store she was working in. We decided to forego the dressing room and on our way out decided to try to alert manager of the goings on in the store.... We'll have you ever asked high school children for their supervisor? Haha when we politely asked who was their super, the boy working there said " well we all have someone above us so what's your problem?" Finally he went to get a girl who was even younger than him and seriously not a supervisor. We asked if she would walk with us as we told her the happenings of our trip to the store. Without asking our names she just offered 10% off our next visit purchase. Ugh!!! I will continue to do my Forever 21 and Urban Outfitter shopping ONLINE!never again. I'll also be emailing corporate....I'm tired of this kind of customer "Disservice"

Offering quite a bit of product, it's a bit cramped when there are lots of customers, but selection trumps navigation, especially considering it's a chain aimed at teens and young adults. Forever 21 offers tons of ultra-trendy clothing, jewelry, and shoes on the cheap. The really cheap. I've bought several pieces of jewelry there, with nothing ever coming in over $7. The quality is on par with the price - almost any chain I've gotten from there has busted a link - but since it's so inexpensive it's no big deal to fix it with a pair of pliers. On the flip side, there are plenty of pieces I've had for years that have held up just fine (earrings, mostly). I'd give this four stars if the service was a little better. There's almost always a monster line, despite having six registers, three on each side of the store - they just don't staff enough people to have them all open. Also, the cashiers often aren't good at (or perhaps don't have the authority to be good at) mediating customer service issues. For example, the last time I was there the girls in front of me decided they wanted to go look for something else halfway through their order being rung up. I stood there for literally ten minutes, then the girl decided she was not going to buy anything, and the order had to be voided. In the meantime, it would have been helpful if the cashier had rung the rest of the people in line up at the next register, but that might not have been possible (couldn't be logged into more than one station at a time, there might not have been a till in the other register(s), etc.). In any case, most people don't go to the mall expecting outstanding customer service, and the large selection and rock-bottom prices make up for other deficits.
