I have been there several times, usually when they have their additional 1/2 off (or more) on clearance sales. Most of the ladies working there are very pleasant. They don't hawk you for sales and let you be after telling you about the specials. There is usually someone to help you in the dressing room to get another size if needed or if you allow, to make sure you are being fitted correctly. I like Soma's bras for its simplicity and quality. They aren't screaming **** me, but more like, I'm here to support you and make your day better. There are styles with touches of lace, quite a bit with push-ups, and a variety of colors that can make you feel beautiful. I've bought items online and have made returns with some ease. They don't allow returns on washed items and I've had one person get snippy at me for folding the bras in half in the return bag. It messes up the structure of the bra so she said. The bras I tried on pinched, pulled and left marks on my skin. Cut weird, not supportive or flattering and just plain boring styles. I tried on a variety of styles and sizes. Some sizes that were marked larger were actually smaller than those of a smaller size. Some actually had missing size tags inside and out! Incorrect and inconsistent sizing. I had a mixed experience here. I came in because I had worn out all my previous bras to the point where they were now rubbing me raw. Their hours were convenient for me, so I went after work. The woman who fit me was rather nice, but not very helpful. After measuring me, she told me my bra size, and I told her that was the same bra size I had been wearing when my bras rubbed me raw and was she sure that's the right size. At this she told me, "well, you're very hard to measure. You could be a size up or a size down, and I don't really know." I asked her if it would really make sense that I was supposed to be in a size up if we already knew that the current bras were rubbing my skin off. I showed her where they were rubbing me. She said she wasn't sure and that she would get her colleague to measure me to see what she thought my size was. I heard her and the colleague talking about me while I was waiting in the fitting room. "Would you go measure her?" "Why? Didn't you?" "I couldn't be sure what size she was. She also had been rubbed raw by her old bras. Do you want to see where so you can help me know if her current size is wrong?" "Ew. No. I don't want to look at her rash." And on and on. The original woman came back and I suggested that we try bras that were a size down and see if they fit me. She got a few and I tried them on. I did learn a new tip which is that you are supposed to use the farthest clasp when the bra is new and keep tightening the bra as it gets older and looser. The smaller bras seemed to make me bulge in certain places, and I asked her if that's supposed to happen. She said it looked fine (I think she wanted to be done with me already). I wound up buying a super discount bra for $24 which was an OK bra, but not especially comfortable or anything. Hmm. Somewhere between a two and a three. I like that the store is neatly organized with their wares attractively hung in clean rows. It's also bright and kind of has the effect of walking into a super-sized closet of the kind you would see on MTV Cribs. Prices are kind of high, however, for cuts and styles that aren't very interesting. Also, they have a wide range of sizes, but a limited number of styles that are available in the less popular parts of the range. If you're an average size, you might be happy, but I wasn't wowed enough to dole out the money. read more

I had a really wonderful experience here! I have had zero previous experience with bra fitting and went because my back was starting to hurt from (what I suspect to be) a lack of support in my chest. I was helped promptly without an appointment and treated very well. The saleswoman listened to what I was looking for and was helpful in bringing various options and styles to meet my needs. I waited several months to write this review because I figured my issues were personal, but I have to say that this store is not very friendly to someone if they aren't sure what they need in bras/underwear. Long story short: they do not help you w/ measuring/fitting/etc. and assume your size based on how they feel you look. I had a good initial experience shopping for bras here after I had gained 30 lbs and needed a size up. The bras fit well and were comfortable even after I lost the weight again. When I went back for a new bra to fit my smaller size they didn't make the same style in my size (34A). I abhor push-up bras b/c I find them uncomfortable and at my height everyone stares at my chest already, so I asked specifically for something similar that would not be push up and would not be seen under T-shirts. I am 5'11'' and 135 lbs, so I am very tall and very thin. However, my bone structure is such that just wearing a size "Small" doesn't work for me (either it's too tight in the shoulders or hips, or it's too short). I trusted Soma to fit me but instead I walked out with a pair of push-up bras that I found come summer I couldn't wear under anything except heavy sweaters. I couldn't wear it with any of my shirts b/c you could see the lines of the bra through them and the necklines showed the straps all the time due to them being racer-backs. It's my fault for buying them, and to be fair when I went back to the store and explained I was unhappy they were very helpful to find me better-fitting bras. When I was trying on the push-up ones initially, I felt very pressured to just take them. The woman helping me didn't measure me, didn't assess the fit, etc., and I just bought them b/c I kept being told they were on sale and "very popular", and not because it was what I wanted. I had asked for something specifically and walked out with something I couldn't use. Again, my fault for buying them, but I didn't feel like I was in a position to be pushy since the worker seemed very bored when helping me. Honestly, my biggest problem with this store is this one: When I went to buy underwear, I got shut down pretty instantly by one of the workers there as well. Again, as a 5'11'' woman, despite being a size 4-6 in dresses, my bone structure is such that I cannot simply be fit into the size "Small" box. But when I asked this woman for help, she simply said, "You're a size six? Then you're a small," and turned to walk away. She never even fully turned towards me at all. I waited so long to post this because I felt I was overreacting to this situation, but this particular employee seemed honestly disgusted by me even asking. It was really frustrating that this woman, who was employed to provide safe, sensitive service to women of all sizes, was so mad at me for asking about the underwear she herself was currently folding. I hate to say it but I think I insulted her by asking, since she was shorter than me and heavier than me and pretty much everyone notices that about me instantly. (I have experienced this kind of attitude before being my size, even from my own mother. I hate to assume she was treating me that way but the more I think about it the less I can assume she was simply having a bad day.) I haven't been able to wear *any* of the underwear I bought (size Small) because they have elastic that is very tight and uncomfortable, and the lines show though all of my clothing, even my jeans. It's so unfortunate that I have wasted over $100 there now and all I have is 2 bras out of it. If I had just been offered to try them on, or if I had had the sense enough to ask, or if I had the bravery to simply say "I don't like this, do better" then I wouldn't be so unhappy. However, I came here because they are the type of store you go to for this kind of help - people who engage you and help size you and help fit you. I expected more. So my point is, if you are someone who needs extra help finding a comfortable fit, either go in prepared to be pushy with the employees who work there, or go somewhere where the employees are *actually* trained to recognize that women's bodies are all different.
