They have six lanes jammed in very small space and you can literally reach out and touch the person throwing in the adjacent lanes. Second, the targets were poorly maintained. The target we were using had clearly not been changed in a very long time. There were massive gouges, and one of the boards was actually falling off the wall. Third, the axes provided were old, the blades were small, and the shafts were all taped up. I found them more challenging to throw then bigger axes at other places. She was able to spot that we had been off with our initial estimate on overall costs, then broke everything down with tons of direct talk about where expenses would be generated, where we could save, and where we wouldn't want to save. In the end, her initial estimate was almost exactly what we ended up paying. Once we started working with her, she was brilliant about making a balance between taking the initiative and asking us for guidance. We always had trust in who she connected us with (she works with a network of total pros), and she made the entire process completely transparent, so we could keep an eye on what we needed to do, but also see what we didn't need to worry about. This was the only way that working together from a distance, and only meeting a couple of times in person was possible. Our wedding was on a family member's property, and Nicole was very skilled at pushing through our agreed vision for the wedding, but without ever stepping on any toes - she's a skilled diplomat. Regarding the wedding design, we we bringing together several cultures in the wedding - Hawaiian, Russian, German, and Coloradan. She was able to blend all of these into a seamless whole that totally reflected our identities in ways tasteful, fun, and surprising. All of our guests and families felt this terrific combination of style and identity that Nicole was able to orchestrate. On the day, she was absolutely a dream to work with. Attentive and in control, but without being overbearing, she was on top of every transition and important moment, but never taking the limelight. She's a true professional's professional. I've driven past this place dozens of times on my way from Denver to Lakewood and I've always been…read morecurious about it. This time I was driving home at 3:30 p.m. and I pulled over to check it out--just in time as they close at 4 p.m. I had no idea that this was one of the oldest food businesses in Denver. The grandfather of the current owners started the business in Bay City, Texas back in the late 1960s, moving to Denver in 1980. The walls of the dining room are full of memorabilia that provides an interesting history of the city. Frank's main business is catering and they can handle extremely large events. They include set-up, take-down, food tables, and servers. They can also provide tents, tables, and chairs. Food options include whole, smoked pigs, smoked turkeys, brisket, sausage, pork ribs, chicken, and pulled pork plus sides and desserts. Although the business is mostly catering, there is a small dining room at their headquarters and you can stop in for a plate or a sandwich or items by the pound to eat-in or take out. The hours vary and are limited, but they're generally open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. I tried a three meat plate with brisket, pulled pork, and pork ribs with sides of cole slaw and pinto beans. The brisket was awful. It was sliced paper thin which was a first for my lifetime of barbecue experiences. It was also totally lean, tough, and flavorless. The pulled pork was tender and pretty good. The ribs were OK, flavorful, but hardly fall-off-the-bone tender. The beans were cooked nicely, but I would have preferred a little more barbecue flavor. The cole slaw was great, very creamy and fresh. I don't expect the cole slaw to be my favorite item on a barbecue dinner, though. I don't think these guys do a lot of volume over the counter. They are probably a better choice for catering.
