It has been a year now since Candice Parks from Nevada Senior Services saved our lives…read more I'm looking around our apartment today with such gratitude the Universe allowed an Angel like Candice to enter our lives when she did. I am a Caregiver for an elderly, disabled, man and last year we were suddenly, and illegally, evicted from our apartment. We had very little resources and no experience in this sort of crisis. Desperate, I reached out to as many organizations as I could searching for any type of help. Candice Parks was referred to me and all it took was one message left. I've never met anyone like her. She should be revered and honored for the commitment and caring she demonstrates. In every aspect of our need, she had some way to assist us. Food, assistance with our temporary housing, and a referral to our current home we are in now. Which is perfect. Amazing. We have been back on our feet since moving to our new apartment. If it hadn't been for Candice I honestly do not know where we would've ended up. It's not just that she has a contact list that must be absurdly long. Anyone can hand out phone numbers and wish you good luck. And many people did that. It's that she gets it. She listened. She reacted every to everything with the proper sense of urgency and timing. She knew our situation and never once left us hanging. Look, no one is actually a miracle worker. But if there were anyone close, it would have to be Candice Parks from Nevada Senior Services. God Bless You Candice Parks and Everything About You. I am humbled and grateful for the love and care you showed us in our desperate time of need.

She has to be one of the most rude and disrespectful people that I have ever met. I spent 21 years in the Air Force and and still work for the gov and I pride myself in treating people with respect and understanding, and the way she acted towards myself and others at the Dress giveaway, just for walking down the incorrect hallway....she should not be in charge of any organization and I would be leary about donating to a person like that. All she had to do was explain the mistake/rules in a nice and respectful manner. I overheard others talking about the rudeness from her as well.

What a wonderful nonprofit organization dedicated to our homeless, disadvantaged high school youth…read more High school is hard enough to get through but when you are lacking the basics like food, clothing, hygiene items and school supplies it can be really difficult and depressing. That is where this place can help. They are able to assist and support our youth with being able to thrive and stay in school to graduate. They accept donations and appreciate volunteers. They provide classes such as job research, job prep, setting life goals, life after high school, financial skills and other educational help. This can really change a young persons life if they offered the right tools to succeed. Clothing is offered for free at the little store called Betty's Boutique on-site with a high school student ID. I was happy to donate my daughter's old prom and homecoming dresses to this organization in order for a needy youth to enjoy their upcoming formal dance. They also accept monetary donations as well. If you live in the Las Vegas, Henderson area please consider making a donation to this positive and impactful nonprofit.

This first impression won my heart over the second we walked in. ****HOWEVER, the manager also immediately made sure that we were okay with dogs and was prepared to put her in back, there is a small gate you have to pass through right at the door before encountering her so don't let this discourage you from stopping in. The store is really small but it had a lot of good items. The manager was very personable and such a joy to talk to. The prices are fair. For the clothing, they have higher end "red tag" clothing which are individually priced. The remaining clothing is priced per item $4 shirts, $5 shoes, etc.. The proceeds goes to Hearts Alive to support animals which just makes it a wonderful place to donate or shop. I would highly recommend checking it out and giving a few belly rubs while shopping. It's located right by the Cat Cafe too.

We liked it so much that we completed the paperwork to begin attending. We had all the documents transferred over from our current daycare, rearranged our schedule, completed our last day at the prior daycare and THE DAY BEFORE we were to start at 3:30 pm, we received a call from the intake person (wonderful lady) informing us that the nurse would not accept the completed physical because the form identified my father Parkinson's condition as a "medical history" rather than a "diagnose". This was unbelievable!! It will take a minimum of 30 days to set up and see the doctor for another physical. This is a VERY POOR PRACTICE & POLICY! ...NEWS FLASH... PARKINSON'S DISEASE IS A LIFETIME ILLNESS. To cancel a person the day before attending over a misprint error is ridiculous and insulting to a person with a disability and a lifetime medical condition. My father is brokenhearted!

We wanted to get him into adult day care as he was in Minnesota. He was vegetating in his bedroom here. After sometime we became aware of Nevada Adult Day Care. It's $80 daily with no funding. For awhile we drove him there on Fridays costing us $320 monthly. Trying to find funding we had to jump through so many hoops, making several, several phone calls, on hold, changing his insurance 3 times trying to qualify, it was unbelievable. We finally discovered the Dept. of Social Services who funds him. We are glad to pay $80 a month for Para Transit who buses him back and forth and this is for 5 days a week. He loves it. Dept. of Social Services and Adult day Care on 2008 Jones Blvd. have been a God send.
