We stayed at Aloft Hotels and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel is clean, modern, and very cozy -- a nice place to relax during a trip. The only downside was that water was accumulating in the sink, which made it uncomfortable to use. It seems like a small maintenance issue, but it did affect the overall comfort. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I had been staying here for days on a business booking, then made a separate personal reservation for an extra night. Thursday night the front desk told me to come down Friday morning so they could check me out of one reservation and into the other. I came down Friday morning. They told me I was all set and handed me new water bottles. I spent Friday out. When I came back that evening, a different associate told me I had never been checked in at all. She then asked me for a physical card as though this had always been a known requirement -- after I had been living in this hotel long enough for the staff to know exactly what card situation I was in. It was a game for them, and it cost me an hour standing at the front desk at 10pm. While I waited, I watched her hand out chocolates to white guests and serve them warmly. I got snide remarks, and she repeatedly refused to help me even when I told her I needed to use the restroom. After I insisted repeatedly, she agreed to send me a form to complete online -- but sent it to my work email, despite this being a personal reservation and despite my having told her I didn't have my laptop with me. I submitted the credit card authorization anyway and called down to confirm. She hung up the moment she heard my voice. I called back and she told me to come down and not to show her attitude. Only when I got there did anyone mention that what they actually needed was a new key and an ID check. Nobody said that once, on either call. The room I got was not what I booked. Stained sofa that had been dismantled -- I had to move the pieces and put it back together myself. Drawers left open. No cold water, just a slow drip. The elevators stink and the building is old and badly maintained. I raised all of it with the manager (Kwok Chung) the next morning. He refused to accept any fault and never apologized. His position was that I should have known his own front desk hadn't actually checked me in -- that when his staff told me I was all set, it was on me to work out that they were wrong. His staff never asked me for a card, and he told me I should have offered it anyway. He would not acknowledge that his people were poorly trained or that a guest shouldn't have to compensate for it. Not only were the staff and manager rude and unprofessional -- they are biased, and they treat people differently based on how they look. read more

TLDR: This is like a Motel 6 (not in a good way) but with a modern vibe. The graphics and modern ambiance of this Marriott-owned hotel chain always attracted me from the outside. Each room brings forth a nice cozy ambiance, but the niceties, sad to say end right there. Once you get past the lobby, the accommodations are rather sparse and basic. A "W" style hotel this is not. The hallways are with have very low ceilings making for a cramped feel throughout. Our bathroom was missing its shower curtain with predictable consequences upon the bathroom floor. To add to the inconveniences, the Hair dryer blows only cold air, as the heating element was broken inside. The air conditioner was rather noisy, not to mention that we could hear the guests from the floor above us! Desk lighting was harsh and non adjustable. Smallish windows to the outside from our room. To top it off, our room keys were invalidated at least 90 minutes before the noon checkout time, so we had to go back to the front desk to renew our keycards! Geez.... Pluses: Good pillows, tons of desk space! Verdict: Don't be fooled by the modern vibe. Think of this as a Motel 6 but with a modern vibe if you do choose to stay here. The place seems to be new and updated, but the bathroom was not clean. I didn't call management, because by the time I noticed, it was late evening (the first time I needed to use the restroom.) there was urine on the floor. I was sick to my stomach, I stepped in someone else's urine. Smaller complaints, the bed was made with the wrong sheet size, I tried to fix it many times, it was the wrong size. And the woman working the front desk made a snarky comment, when I asked if the bar was open, apparently the bartender didn't make it in, she said, "we're not open, but if you need to get CHEAP drinks, go to Applebees." read more

Unfortunately, my stay here was shy of being subpar. It was incredibly hard to get ahold of reception a few days prior to our stay to confirm our booking, and even more difficult to check in when we arrived. The staff wearing the fedora all the time was pretty blunt and lacked hospitality. The parking structure is free, which is nice, but good luck finding parking past 9-10pm in there! We just gave up and parked on the street, which is a very short walk from the hotel. The room: When I lifted the blanket, the sheet was dirty and crinkly? It definitely wasn't white I'll tell you that much. The walls are also very thin, so you'll be hearing everything and more. Other than that everything else was okay! They have some board games you can play downstairs in the lobby and a cafe as well, but it's only open in the early hours of the day. TLDR: It was just okay. Crap customer service or lack thereof. Trying to get breakfast here was an absolute nightmare. I was standing there with my two-year-old and four-year-old, both hungry, while the cook Luna would not even acknowledge me. I stood there waiting, reading the paper that said to go to the front desk. When I went to the front desk, I was told, no, you need to go to the cook. So I went back to the cook, finally got her attention, and then she said she doesn't speak English and told me to go back to the front desk. Mind you, I'm going back and forth with two small children who are starving. Eventually, the front desk agent finally decided to take my paper and give it to her. I don't understand how something as simple as ordering a breakfast sandwich turned into this much chaos. To make it worse, the food was awful. My daughter wouldn't even eat the sandwich, and I ended up getting my other daughter cereal because the sandwich was completely unbearable. The service to get breakfast here is diabolical. Back in my traveling Corporate days, I used to stay at Aloft and similar new styled "business" hotels with open designs, comfortably appointed rooms with modern touches, comfy casual seating areas to work or casually meet, and a deli type grab and go dining concept, without a full restaurant. These hotels were perfect for busy business travelers like me. 20 years ago Aloft was a new concept brand under the Starwood family of hotels in their REIT portfolio, before Marriott acquired almost all of that portfolio of brands a few years ago. They were actually designed to be the essentials of what most solo business travelers needed, while reducing staff needs in restaurant operations. Add a little pizzazz with neon lighting on the side of the building or in the lounge, and modern design, many with mini-suite or Euro design concepts, and this started a whole new hotel trend different than the previous decades with Courtyard by Marriott concepts, or traditional (and expensive) full service Hiltons and Marriotts. This location is in the heart of Silicon Valley, amidst many Apple offices in Cupertino, and close to Sunnyvale, San Jose, Mountain View and other Tech suburbs. It seemingly was refurbished or updated a bit from its inception perhaps 15-20years ago. It has underground parking, and 3 EV chargers there, with overnight charging on the house! So I was doing some business in the south bay at Westfield Valley Fair Mall, up the peninsula in Belmont, and east on 237 in Milpitas during my stay. What was great is that I came back each night here, got my Tesla into an overnight EV parking space, and charged up my car overnight for free! I charge up overnight at home, too, but it isn't free. So this was a comfortable and efficient hotel for my purposes, and because it was off season, it was about $150/night. Not bad for Silicon Valley. Almost cheaper than many Apple accessories, and definitely cheaper than most Apple repairs, lol. read more

My first room had an ant infestation that got all into my toiletries. After some back and forth with the front desk, I was finally able to get them to move me to another room which was not the same room type I had booked but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. The general state of the new room was equally unclean. The sheets had tears and stains on them, which was extremely concerning from a cleanliness stand point and many things in the room were falling apart or broken. This hotel was horribly managed by Jeffrey P Lemus. Negative Points * Extra $360 charge on my card. I was told upon checking out that I would be emailed my receipt. I never got a receipt emailed. Checking my credit card, I had a charge of $360.16. When I called the hotel, I was told I needed to email the manager. And this manager, Jeffrey Lemus is hardly available and takes forever to reply back to emails. Manager claims multiple housekeepers saw a dog in the room. I did not have a dog so this is impossible! * if this happens to you, just take it up with BBB, credit card company, and Marriott Headquarters. This is pure fraud. Marriott customer service is useless and gave me a email saying since I booked through a third party site, I need to contact Expedia about the extra charge when Marriott's the one that charged me $360. * Quality of sleep is bad. You can hear everything in the hallway and upstairs. There were loud people throughout the night that kept waking me up. We're talking screaming and yapping at 4am. Stomping or running kids upstairs didn't help. Cleaning ladies start talking and working at 8am. * I thought it was other inconsiderate guests laughing and talking and making water sounds that kept waking me up from 8-9amish. I finally had enough and went outside to find it was the cleaning ladies that were talking and laughing. * Cleaning person didn't come despite leaving a "refresh please" sign on the door from 11:30am - 4:30pm. After complaining of no cleaning, I was told that I need to call the front desk a day before to schedule cleaning. Noelle didn't say anything about this during check-in. Even with the phone call, room was not cleaned * Lights went out in the bathroom. Called front desk to fix it for 2 days and they didn't come until I got upset. The person on the phone even gave attitude back upon complaining. The maintenance guy left some dirty light cover on the faucet. * Front desk guy was rude. Giving attitude when I complained about the lights being out for 2 days. I said "what's going on? I asked for 2 days now to fix the lights" and he replied back "what do you mean what's going on sir?" * 1 toilet paper roll for the entire stay. Had to ask twice for extra toilet papers. This is with house cleaning, you have to just go to Target to buy them or ask for them when the cleaning lady is outside. If you're staying multiple nights, it's going to get annoying asking for toilet paper. * Nightstand next to bed was broken. The top part of the nightstand just flipped off. It was broken and someone just carefully placed the top part back on. (photo attached) * Cleaning is lazy. I found dirty Q-tips (with ear wax?) on top of lamps, some merchandise left from previous people that stayed. No vacuum. Hair left in bathroom. Lift your sofa up and check in the shelves, I found cups and used shoes. * Ironing board has no cover on it? *photo attached* * No tissue, no notepad, no pen (could be due to covid) * Weak shower water pressure. * Toilet paper location in the bathroom! You sit down, and need to make a 120 degree turn to the left and reach for the toilet paper. Who designed this place!? * Some random merchandise left in the shelf from previous guest. Thanks for the free goods from Marshalls. * Random stains here and there. Most carts are in the hotel lobby but you may find some in the subterranean garage where parking is complimentary. I am smitten by their refillable fullsize bottles of DryBar toiletries, these are more sustainable than the tiny one-and-done travel size amenities most hotels offer. Great closet design with a single sliding barn door. It looks sleek and compact but highly functional and leaves the room feeling spacious. Left closet houses a mini fridge & shelves, middle portion has a safe & more shelves, the right features a hanging bar, ironing board, and iron. Central to 280, 101, and all the Apple campuses. There are TONS of delicious places to eat and shop. 7 Leaves for your coffee/tea/boba fix. Pho Ha Noi is a scrumptious Vietnamese restaurant just a half mile down the road. Philz Coffee and Sprouts Farmers Market are one block over. Target and Marina Market are within walking distance and viewable from the hotel. Exceeded my needs for business and pleasure. I stayed with my husband and our youngest, there was plenty of room to not feel like we were on top of each other. There's a pool and bar downstairs to unwind during downtime. The property is clean, the beds are comfortable. I'm already looking forward to my return in the future. read more

This property was disappointing. I've stayed at Aloft hotels around the country (including this one - but that was in 2022), and by far this was the worst Aloft room I've stayed in. I booked this hotel as my previous experiences at other locations has been positive. The current stay: the room was generally clean, parking was easy, and there was complimentary water in the room. Moving on to the negatives: the room is excessively dim. The only lighting beyond the entry and bathroom area is one desk lamp and the bed backlighting. Maybe there was a floor lamp at some point? I could open the blinds but there are no shades for privacy. The bathroom trash can liner didn't fit the receptacle, which is unpleasant for the cleaning staff and annoying for guests. The hotel guest wifi didn't work (on the 2nd floor), though reception kindly let me use a different network. Wifi access should be fixed considering the location of this hotel is likely to mean a fair amount of business travel clientele. The TV: DIRECTV only, poor resolution, no option to cast or sign into streaming services. The kicker - pun intended - is an inconveniently installed doorstop that I have managed to trip over and hit my toes on. It's small enough to go without notice until your toes fall victim. The top of it is loose and falls off when knocked into and the edges are *not smooth*. Ask me how I know. read more

Visited the Aloft Cupertino for an overnight from Sat to Sun. No valet on arrival, Parking was free and underground. Appreciated they had 3 free EV charging spaces. Check in was quick and the single reception was friendly enough. Hotel dining and hang out area was small and had a great view of the pool. Room smelled stale, was on first floor so window wouldn't open to get fresh air. Room itself was worn but not horribly. The bed side tables used to have a light or a phone on each side. They must have changed/removed what was there and left the large 1.5 inch cable hole. I didn't notice this until late night when the room was dark and placed something on the side table and it was gone. Luckily nothing I cared about since it was all bolted down but using a flash light i can see I'm not the only person whole lost something in there. The hotel was dead. We saw only 2 other party during our 20 hr stay. The most annoying part was I asked for an extra hour to check out and was denied. Was told no more than thirty minutes or would be charged. Overall no way this place should be rated as a four star hotel. Reading what qualities makes a 4 star hotel on both the web and on Marriott's own web site, I can say first hand this place misses the mark by far and is just plain false advertising. read more

We stayed for a week, and they never informed us about housekeeping. So we left our room everyday with tip, but nobody came for housekeeping. After few days we made a call to front desk and FINALLY they informed us that housekeeping is by request a day before. This kind of information should have been informed when checking in. So we requested, but they still didn't do it. Our stay was a week long so we definitely needed housekeeping, but they didn't even manage to respond to our request. They even gave me an attitude on the phone and hanged up! Rude! You get the lowest quality of sleep at this hotel. You can hear everything in the hallway. The worst part is that it's not customer, it's Aloft workers! Cleaning ladies chatting so loud in very early morning EVERYDAY. How inconsiderate. Earplugs are necessary. When I walked out from hotel lobby, I saw hotel guests talking with manager, in front of their car keyed on their front glass. Their parking lot didn't seem safe. Came in Saturday around 4pm to get check in. I was helped right away, I booked a king bed room from hotels.com, while I was getting checked in the worker didn't mention anything about giving me a handicap room, I'm not sure if this was intentional since my wife is short. While we are getting checked in another couple comes in as well they ended up being a few doors down from us in a regular non handicap room, we ended up heading downstairs to get to get our room changed, the girls at the reception stated they were booked and had no more rooms. I had an excellent stay at aloft in Cupertino. Just quick one night stay coming from SF to SJ next day. The rate was very affordable and the room was very clean. They also left antibacterial wipes on the desk! The bed and pillows were soft and comfortable. Thr customer service was great and the free and safe garage parking was a bonus too! Thrley have a fridge, coffee maker and a safe in room (Note: only a mini fridge without a freezer section). The amenity is pretty basic so you might wanna bring your own conditioner or hair mask (only 2-in-1 shampoo). I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quick one night stay at a clean and newly hotel. read more

Overall an OK stay. It started bad: in the morning i noticed some ants in the bathroom. I was on my way out and the folks at the front desk promised me that when I come back the room will be 100% clean or any ants but that unfortunately didn't work so I had to go back but the girl at the front desk immediately moved me to a new room and from then on everything was smooth. So on one hand I'm glad that they were able to take care of this but on the other hand I think this kind of incident should be taken care of very swiftly i.e. immediately move to another room and also offer some compensation, even a small one like a free breakfast or drinks at the bar if not some kind of refund (which may not do the job if it's a company paid stay). Like I said, once I was in a different room everything was great. I liked the room and the hotel location for me was great. And no, my stay wasn't related to Apple... I also liked that there are some dining options in walking distance and that the parking at the hotel is very convenient and is underground so feels like your car is safer than just an open lot and also there's the benefits of a covered parking. Breakfast was not included with my stay, but from what I've seen it looked OK, there are a lot of breakfast options around the hotel to stop by on your way to work or just to start the day. There's also a Target literally a block away (well anyway not more than a 5 minute walk) which is convenient if you want to have some groceries in your room. The room has tiny fridge. A little thing that is somewhat annoying is that most of the time there are not enough people manning the front desk or even no one at all. Sometime you just have to stand an wait there until someone shows up. We accidentally had a wrong name on the booking, after multiple attempts of trying to get the woman to help us with this, she was extremely snooty and rude to us. We had to contact hotels.com, and they tried to get ahold of the hotel to switch our names, she was not answering the phone and we ended up waiting over an hour for her to help us with this. When hotels.com finally called the hotel, she put them on hold to deal with "something else", and then got back to them and the call "dropped". We Will definitely not be staying here ever again, we didn't even end up staying here and we left to go to the Hilton garden inn next door (MUCH MUCH better), even if this issue hadn't been the case, she was overall very rude and unpleasant. Other reviews weren't kidding. Hotel is noisy. I kept getting woken up to people screaming and partying in the hallway. It's supposed to be a smoke-free hotel, but it smelled like smoke in the elevators and the hallway. Also I was charged. The front desk asked me if I wanted my bill emailed at checkout and they never sent anything. A few days later, I saw a charge on my credit card. I called and they told me to speak to take it up with the manager which NEVER responded. Tips 1. Ask for the top floor and very end room to get away from all the noise. 2. Demand that they print your bill at the end of your stay and dispute your bill there and then before checking out. This is not their fault, but my car was damaged in their parking garage leaving me to deal with the car rental company. read more

This is in no way a 4-star hotel. I had to traipse out to the reception (a round information desk like at the mall) when half asleep to get someone to turn the tv off! They couldn't even get batteries out of remote. Whole operation took 40 minutes and now I'm no longer tired! I had to "request" a blanket--Another 40 minutes. I get the impression they are running a skeleton crew. And everyone keeps telling you, "no worries," when they should be apologizing!! read more
