I wasn't concerned because these type of issues do happen from time to time. When we got to our room on the sixth floor we were happy to see the whole floor was already updated and WOW it was so beautiful and very updated. The room was extremely clean and you could tell that housekeeping take great pride in their work. We have been to a great deal of hotels and condos throughout the United States and we were happy with our stay and the location was very convenient for all the things we had planned for the short stay. I also really liked the art work in our room. I looked everywhere to see where I could purchase the art but unfortunately came up with nothing so the search will continue. I hope management will let all their employees know how much we appreciate all the hard work they did and we plan to come back again and excited to see what it looks like once its finished. It quickly became clear that we might be out the money we had already paid, which was frustrating to say the least. That's when Assistant Manager Rolando Guitterrez stepped in. Instead of giving us a quick "nothing we can do," he took extra time to really look into the situation. He worked through the details, explored options, and ultimately found a way to help us so we didn't lose that money. That kind of effort and genuine concern is something you just don't see often anymore. What really impressed us was that even after going above and beyond to fix our issue, he still offered us a complimentary room upgrade at no additional cost. That level of customer service speaks volumes about both him and the hotel. Beyond that, the property itself was extremely clean--from the lobby to the hallways, rooms, and pool area--and every employee we interacted with was overly friendly and welcoming. Checking in was quick. The front lobby was very nice and clean and. I got to my room It was very clean. I was very happy with the layout and it was a good size room. The bathroom was clean and the lighting was also great. The sitting area and bedroom area, although had lots of lamps the lighting was still very dim. The bed and pillow were comfortable and I realized all four pillows that they gave me were all different materials. Which was nice because I was able to decide which one I wanted to lay on. Regarding the shower, there is no door so it was very cold and drafty. The only solution I found was to put the shower on hot close the bathroom door and let it warm up for about five minutes then once I was ready to shower. I adjusted the temperature so that it was not drafting, but you need to have the bathroom door closed when you shower. The towels for the bathroom also had holes one of the washcloth actually disintegrated while I was using it. Luckily, there were two others for me to choose from there was only one day for the seven days that I was there that they offered continental breakfast other than that you had to order from the restaurant. That was not very convenient since you had to really wake up at least 30 to 40 minutes early to grab breakfast before work the location is not in a very populated area so I would stay here again for a work trip, but probably wouldn't would not stay here for pleasure.

Note that on the way to dinner, I noticed one of the poor cabana boys passed out on a lounge. They work them so hard that I couldn't even rouse the boy when I tried. He did appear later in the evening and accompanied us on the shuttle to local shopping and told several very funny jokes. At some point the consumers experience has to be shared and heard with improvement actions as a result. There's nothing exciting about this property from check-in, not being acknowledged as a Hilton Honors member. Not getting water or welcome package as members. Stains on the walls and carpets in the halls. Entering the room expecting better to only be disappointed. Wanting to wash away the disappointment of the day, I couldn't because our room 124 didn't have hot water. After sharing our concerns with the front desk staff member that didn't look like he was an employee in his street clothes and no name badge. He said he couldn't promise that the next room would be any better, 114. After packing up and moving rooms, 114 did have hot water but no room improvements. There was a couple of gentleman behind us in line wanting to change their room on the second floor because the air didn't work. At some point property owners have to care about reviews and make improvement to their properties. In addition to Hilton checking all rooms not just a select few when conducting a property audit. So many hotels are up and running but not standing up to the quality of the hotel brand because the brand isn't holding them accountable. My husband use to work in the hotel industry and left because his standards for quality hotel and employees are too high for property management today. Management today cares about heads in beds, not quality repairs, upgrades, quality and competent employees who support and exemplifies excellence . Cut to Friday (we checked in Tuesday afternoon), and I got a call from the general Manager, Aaron Oquendo (found your last name Aaron, you weren't getting off that easy). My dogs, who have been abruptly moved from their home with a yard and 2400 sq ft of space to a 400 sq ft space on the 3rd floor) barked when I would leave to take my kids to school and pick them up (20 minutes away). He proceeded to berate me on the phone, called it a "major situation" because a couple of guests complained (rightfully so) and told me I was "costing the hotel money" and told me we had to leave. Which, funny enough, we had TWO ROOMS booked for TWO WEEKS, so who cost who money? Anyway, after he informed me we were being kicked out he proceeded to lecture me and compare my situation to his flood situation from 2020 and he got bark collars and his dogs "never barked." It was the most unprofessional and rude conversation I've ever had in my life. I explained to him the situation and he couldn't have cared less. I completely understand that dogs barking can be very annoying. I work from home so I was there all day, and all night, and they did not bark consistently. Any time they did bark it was addressed immediately. He tried to argue with me that they barked during the day, to which I had to reiterate I worked from home and I was in the room with them all day, expect to get my kids. I ended up hanging up on him because he was so rude to me. When I saw him in the lobby and confronted him he was still evasive and dismissive. I asked for his last name and he said "we don't give out that information." Funny, because there were 4 business cards readily available for the Asst GM and 3 others, but yeah they don't give out that info. Got it. He told me "offered for me to stay" but no, he didn't. He said this to save face from the other guests in the lobby. Chante called me to smooth things over and said they didn't want me to leave, we just had to come to a solution which I was happy to do, however, there was zero chance I was staying somewhere where the General Manager treats the guests so poorly. I didn't feel comfortable staying there anymore. There were about 1000 different ways he could have approached the situation but he chose the worst possible way. We checked out that same afternoon and were forced to go back to our house that's unlivable until we found alternative accommodations (forcing us to move for the 3rd time in 5 days). I work in customer service for a living and I would never EVER speak to someone the way he spoke to me. Especially knowing the traumatic situation they were in. He shouldn't be in the position that he's in if this is the way he treats people. The moment I saw him that first day I felt in my gut he was an icky person, and turns out my gut instinct was right. He made me feel so small and humiliated. Aaron, a little grace, kindness and empathy go a long way. I would have gladly worked with you to find a way to help because I understand that other guests were unhappy. I don't let my dogs bark at my own home because it's annoying, so I can appreciate that the other guests were annoyed. The only call out I have is the pick up/drop off, there was an worker who suggested travelers that had all stayed at the resort for the week should walk with all their luggage very far to a parting lot for me to pick them up, even though there is a line dedicated to pick up/loading- he could use some training. Due to my elite status with Marriott we were able to get an updated room that had a large walk in shower and nicer countertops than what come with a regular room. Our room had a great center atrium view and with a balcony it was perfect for sitting and relaxing. The room was quiet and we heard no one else even though the hotel was at capacity. The beds and pillows were comfortable and I slept great. The room was clean and the AC made no noise whatsoever. We did a scavenger hunt in the Atrium for the kid and she enjoyed it. The best part for me was sitting by the "river" below Zeppole and just listening to the water running. It is so tranquil and peaceful. It's my special place that I go to every time we stay at Gaylord. It was a rainy weekend so we did not use the indoor or outdoor pool, but they are always options. Overall, the Gaylord has come to be one of my favorite hotels in the Dallas metroplex and we will return for sure.
