My 4-year-old needed to take the WPPSI (early entrance examination) for acceptance into kindergarten. Washington State law requires children to be 5 by the end of August to qualify for public school placement in kindergarten. Since my daughter's birthday is at the beginning of September, in fact the day before school started, we had to take the district's required WPPSI assessment. Many districts require the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence for students with birth dates falling after August 30th. However, some districts ask for a simpler assessment. Either way, the test is generally administered by an outside psychologist, not by a district employee, therefore parents are on their own to seek out and find a psychologist willing to administer the assessment. The WPPSI is long, but a thorough assessment. Dr. Yun explained that the test could take up to 3 hours. Her fee was $350. I figured the cost broke down to roughly $100 per hour, plus a $50 expense for her write-up, which included a detailed analysis of the test results with examples of my daughter's strengths and weaknesses within each subset of the test, as well as her standard score and percentile. The report was several pages and definitely worth the additional $50. As a kindergarten teacher, I recommend parents to psychologists for this type of testing quite regularly and have seen varying fees, though those on the lower end don't include a thorough report; just test scores. Dr. Yun was very professional and clearly works well with adolescents. She was inviting and complimentary from the start, providing lots of praise and encouragement. I highly recommend her services, and will continue to send potential kindergarten parents her way.

Chuck is so sweet and nice to my son. we have been to the different services before and we didn't satisfy. Chuck has the way to talk to my son in the way that kids could understand. My son is really enjoying seeing him. Every week he would so excited to go meet with Chuck. Wishes for a while he didn't want to go see counselor because they didn't understand him. I saw Corey Cotton for about a year while navigating complex trauma. While he was kind and I…read morebelieve he meant well, I often felt emotionally unsupported and misunderstood during some of my most vulnerable moments. Early on, he provided his email, which I understood as a way to share what I couldn't easily express in session. It was only much later that I learned those emails weren't being read. That discovery deeply impacted my trust and left me feeling dismissed. At times when I was most overwhelmed, the focus seemed to shift toward managing risk rather than offering emotional support. These experiences left me feeling isolated rather than helped. The clinic itself was always professional and responsive, and I do believe Corey cares--but in my experience, he was not adequately prepared to support trauma clients. I hope this helps others in finding a therapeutic relationship that offers the safety and attunement trauma survivors need.

I had to call 3 different phone lines--each of which were experiencing "high call volumes" and…read moreadded up to around 30 minutes waiting on hold--to find out if the Compass Health provider who showed up on my insurance was even taking patients or would see children. First two places were unable to answer my basic questions about the provider's availability or wait time and didn't know if the provider saw children, but nonetheless told me I'd have to book an intake appointment to get my questions answered. Which would've been a pointless waste of time and effort since the provider doesn't even see children.
