The breakfast buffet is boring after a few days and I don't even bother with the main meal buffet which I find bland and unappetising. Servers in the breakfast room are polite and friendly but bar staff could not be less bothered. A request for an ice bucket will see you sent back to your room to call room service. There is no ice bucket in the room and no ice machine available to guests. The pools are nice places to hang out in the winter but from the end of May are surrounded by people on all inclusive package trips. The spa is lovely and I recommend their spa pass which you need to get on arrival. It's sold as a special offer and has been on all of my 9 visits here. Unfortunately there is a lack of spa etiquette with a lot of guests not showering before using the main pool on arrival or after using the sauna or steam bath. The staff are not interested in asking people to wash. Room servicing happens throughout the day, rarely (in my experience) in the morning, usually between 2pm and 5pm. There is a turndown service that happens within an hour of the room being made up. And as another reviewer has pointed out, there is no toilet brush available. I think the hotel awarded itself 5 stars. Unfortunately there is nowhere better around here... I just wish they would sort out there silly little issues

The hotel is…read morebeautiful and the area is gorgeous , just a 2 or 3 minute walk from the dock where the yachts are parked up and there is a small strip of shops and a number of small restaurants and bars which are great for cocktails. This area is a little more expensive than the main strip but worth it. It's a 10 min drive from the main strip and €7 in a taxi. The reason it's only getting 3 stars, 1: we booked as a young couple and got a family room in the family wing, with teddy bears and a tent in our room ( great for a family, mood killer for a romantic holiday), 2: when we asked to change the room the staff were rude and annoyed and they kept this attitude with us throughout the week! 3: the staff at the pool bar have no interest in working ( not just me loads of guests commented) 4: my boyfriend ended up in hospital and on the last day I rang to say that we might be late checking out because we were waiting to on the doctor, the person on the phone was not impressed and wanted us gone straight away, I asked to pay for late checkout and was told no. I especially liked the wonderful flowering shrub that makes a beautiful tunnel at one side of the building. Te courtyard outside the reception office and dining room was also a pleasant spot to sit in. The courtyard was kept spotlessly clean. The room was cool, despite having no air-con. The bed was comfortable and the flat screen TV enabled us to watch TV and movies on our laptop (we brought the HDMI cable ourselves). There is WiFi too, which was available near reception and the dining room. The pool offered welcome break from the hot hot sun, especially after a day hike or a bike ride in the surrounding area. The breakfast buffet was quite good, a fine array of food to chose from. Dinner in their restaurant was nice, but the wine was quite expensive, by Lanzarote standards. It was lovely wine, but 21 EUR. The manager was a very nice guy to deal with. The waiter, a little odd, but was always paying attention to his diners. There are few things that make this review a four star instead of a five star: The lack of storage in the room. There was very little storage and one chest of drawers (which was in the bathroom) only had one drawer with a working handle. The lack of light in the bathroom. We could open the shutter, but the window was right by the courtyard and generally there was someone out there that could see in. The lack of staff at times, once when we arrived to check in and then during the day at the bar. But still overall a nice experience here upon our arrival to Lanzarote at La Casona de Yaiza.

A week in the sun - ahh you can't beat it…read more The Suitehotel Fariones is one of three Fariones accomodations in Puerto del Carmen- the others being a Hotel and an Apartment complex; both of which are close by. The Suitehotel comprises apartments with breakfast included, and the option to purchase dinner. The complex was in a great location, just off the main promenade in Puerto del Carmen. It was very architectural in design, and had some unusual features, although some of the corridors were a bit dark. We were located on the third floor and had three adults sharing a room. The complex is right next to the beach and our apartment overlooked the sea and the edge of the swimming pool. The room was bright and clean, and with maid service everyday it never felt grubby or unclean which can often be the case with some holiday apartments. The bedroom was spacious, as was the living area with seating area which doubled as the extra bed. The room did lack storage shelf/cupboard space to unpack, and some of the sharp edges and tiles weren't the comfiest to sit against. This particular room also had three steps to access the main living area, which wasn't a concern for three adults, but might have been an issue for families with younger children. The breakfast buffet was fantastic - a great selection of cereals, fruit, yogurt, meats and cheeses, muffins and patisseries, cooked breakfast including omelettes, sausages, pancakes (on some mornings) , fruit juices and more. I must admit on holiday we normally just opt for some light breakfast in the apartment, but we all really enjoyed setting ourselves up for the day by getting up for breakfast. A few minor criticisms were the terrible WIFI signal. However, the signs at the pool side informed us this was being worked on, and a new line being set up, so hopefully this should improve the connection. It was however, really frustrating - you would get connected then it would access a webpage and quickly boot you back out! The loungers at the pool were mega comfy - you could happily doze away here all day... that is if you're lucky enough to get one! From about 8am in the morning (yes I did say 8am) you need to be up and ready with your towel to reserve them for the rest of the day. Despite notices which say that there should be no reserving of chairs, this seemed to be completely ignored, and it was very frustrating to want a lounger for a few hours only to find they were all reserved,yet very few were being occupied. Many people just abandoned their towels there for the morning - then sauntered back later in the afternoon. I know this is an issue in most hotels but it would have been good to see management enforcing the rules. On the whole though, a great complex; clean, comfortable and definitely one of the best holiday accommodations I've stayed in.

As soon as we arrived we received a welcome drink and were promptly brought to our beautiful room. In the booking form they asked our reason for travel and as my partner and I were celebrating our fourth anniversary, I wrote it down. When we got to our room there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us with a note from the management wishing us a happy anniversary, it was lovely. Throughout the trip the front desk was accommodating--bringing us a corkscrew for a bottle of wine we brought back to drink on the balcony and quickly cleaning up glass when I clumsily dropped and broke a glass cup next to the bed. There is a huge breakfast buffet every morning which was pretty good with the usual components of eggs, bacon, and more free champagne if you're into that. The pool is absolutely stunning with many chairs around it for tanning and a little place to get food. It's a quick walk down to the marina which has tons of restaurants and then about another 15 minute walk along the water to get to the bigger town of playa blanca. What I really loved about this hotel was how close it was to activities while still being tranquil enough where you can hear the water while quietly sipping wine on the balcony. The fridge they supply is empty so you can go to the shop but also has an option for them to fill it for you if you want. The room also has tons of amenities including a candle, a reed diffuser, shoe cleaner and then the normal room amenities of shampoo and conditioner etc. The spa is lovely with a giant bubbling pool and a steam room and a sauna. If you book a treatment then you can go for free that day. There is a bar in the hotel which has activities including pool and even a piano singer one night who was great. Overall the only parts I didn't love were that there was no beach belonging to the hotel, and that the king bed is just two individually made beds pushed together (which I've now learned is actually the norm in the canaries). Ifyou have a car definitely take a day trip to Papagayo which is very close by. A great place to celebrate our anniversary and truly a relaxing experience.

This review is based solely on the large shop attached to the hotel. I have not stayed at the…read morehotel. We were looking for some nice, authentic gifts to take home from our holiday. Our excursion to Timanfaya left little time for gift shopping but I had spied some nice volcanic/olivine jewellery, salt and Lanzaloe which I thought looked like decent items to take home. Unfortunately, all the shops we popped into in Puerto Del Carmen were full of the usual generic crap which neither of us were willing to buy. I had spied this shop the other day and noticed it looked like a mecca for local produce. Correct! A plethora of Lanzarote wine, jewellery, cosmetic/toiletry products etc awaits! We managed to get the 3 things we were looking for, plus hot Mojo Sauce from neighbouring Gran Canaria. Would highly recommend popping in here and taking home some decent gifts rather than the awful, run of the mill tat that almost all the other shops offer.

The big let down to this place is it's about 20 years behind the times with no air con, a look of the early 80's about it and staff that don't smile but still expect a tip. It's a real shame as they are in a great spot but their still charging like their a 5 star. Best thing to do with this hotel is avoid it until their price goes down or the quility of the hotel goes up.
