Very pleasantly surprised by this place! I booked this as a mostly casual 1-star to try to fill in an empty dinner slot for of our short vacation in Copenhagen, and we left after the meal thinking that this is one of our new favorite places. I didn't do much research before going, just that they have 1 Michelin star and 1 Michelin Green Star, and they have a non-alcoholic pairing that my wife tends to like. Finding the place is a little tricky, we took a bus and walked around a little. But the spot on Google Maps is pretty close. The area definitely doesn't look like an area with fine dining, but we eventually found a door with their sign near it. I wasn't sure how to get in, but after standing outside for a moment, the door opened (or more like, the metal door lifted upwards) and someone in a chef's coat greeted us and personally walked us in. There is graffiti in the area, and the elevator we took to get in is covered in graffiti. Definitely lots of character in the area. The chef who walked us in was very friendly and down to earth, and we noticed he had an American accent, so I asked him if he was from the States. He said yes, and that he married a Dane and moved from NYC to CPH, and started working here. Well. Little did we know, that was Chef Nick Curtin. We probably seemed like ignorant Millennials to him, yet he was so humble when chatting with us. That's the Danish way! Throughout the meal, we would see him casually chatting with others, just pulling up a chair and having full on conversations and not just pleasantries. It was a unique thing to see and speaks to how intimate yet casual, and Nordic, this place is. The food. It is GOOD. It's a short meal with only a few courses (relative to 2 or 3 star places), but it is quality over quantity. If they did more dishes for a longer meal, this is very easily a 2 or 3 star place. Non-alcoholic and alcoholic pairings were excellent as well. Some of the dishes were so simply presented, yet were some of the best tasting dishes we've ever had. Decor is very cute, and I love the windows that bring in a lot of natural light (though they do have an interior section that's not as bright if you want that!). Highly recommend making a stop here if you're in CPH. We will definitely be back.

Nothing short of incredible, Alouette is more than just a meal, it's an experience. From entering then restaurant to interacting with the servers and chefs to ultimately tasting the food, Alouette does not fail to impress. A cool and wonderful place!

We liked the food too. My daughter got the shrimp and egg toast which was nice but it wasn't really enough for a full meal. She shared my Baked Hake main, which was lovely. Also the French Fries were to die for. Our server was knowledgeable and kind. We had an excellent experience at Cap Horn.

There were outside tables, but it was a bit chilly, so we opted for the nearly deserted inside restaurant. We had a table near the window, so it was a great view. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the service was very friendly. I ordered the gravlax open-faced sandwich, which is smoked salmon (very similar to lox) on an excellent sour dough bread. I opted to skip the mustard sauce, but the sandwich was perfect. My wife had the potato open-faced sandwich, which consisted of new potatoes, organic rye bread, lemon mayonnaise (romaleid), fried onions and pickled pearl onions. She really enjoyed it, along with her Spritz drink. Denmark seems to be one of those countries, where you cannot order tap water. Fair enough. However, our water consisted of an open carafe (which I'm sure was tap water), for which we were charged 50 Krona ($8). This seems high for tap water.
