The Sole with the amazing potatoes!!
Amy Jo G.

WOW!!! Serious wow factor! We wanted some good Scandinavian food by the water and this is the spot!!! My friend and I both ordered the lemon:caper:buttery sole and it was absolutely perfect. We got the home made bread first and ordered a second because it was just too delicious and fresh from the oven. You can't go wrong with the fish as long as you can handle removing the bones--it's easy. Then we decided to go further and enjoy dessert. I had the pickled cherry dessert with mead sorbet and it had this carmel with nuts and sauces that just made it a perfectly balanced dessert between flavors and texture. I licked the plate. Literally. Not to be missed. My friend got the fancy cheesy desert and loved it as well if you want something more savory. The service was friendly and attentive. Excellent as well. A wonderful meal, can't recommend Cape Horn enough. (This is a touristy area and there are some mediocre offerings, this isn't one of them!!!)

First stop on our epic culinary (and scenery ofc) adventures, we stopped by Denmark, birth place of danishes (actually Google informed me danishes were brought from central Europe to Denmark). After a nice walk around the Rosenborg Castle, little mermaid, and Nyhavn. We searched nearby for food and Came across this place. After getting some pointers from the kind and helpful waitress, we got the dish of the day (which was a pumpkin soup) and thr "Smorrebrod" platter with extra sandwich of herring. Overall we really liked the friendliness of the waitress and the food itself was very different and refreshing. The pumpkin cream soup was really different than what we are used to. It's really really thick and surprisingly filling despite the size of the bowl. The platter consisted of 4 open/one sided sandwiches (had to pay 30 DKK extra to add the herring) and consisted of 1.picked root vegetable that had a similar texture to rutabaga which was crunchy and had almost an shiitake mushroom and was quite enjoyable despite me being a meat a tarian 2. The second one was the roast beef which was paired with pickled onions and was really well balanced but I would rank it the lowest as the others are just that much better 3. The third one was consisted of soft boiled egg and tender fresh shrimp which was really fresh and tasty and could make you feel the sea in your mouth (provided the sea had some lemon juice mixed in) 4. Lastly the herring sandwich which started out absolutely amazing but as you eat more starts to get too sour/pickled. Upon first bite, we were initially thought wow, this sauce of cottage cheese is really tarte and paired so well with the herring! Upon further taste testing we realized the sauce didn't impart too much flavor and the tartness was purely from the herring itself. All in all you should definately come herr and rest your feet after visiting Nyhavn and try the local flavors

Their salmon open sandwich was killer and shrimp sandwich was good too. Only I did not like their restroom.

A good meal in a tourist area. Someone else selected the restaurant, I typically steer away from eating in the tourist center. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Local Danish fare, well prepared and presented. The staff is friendly and attentive. The cocktails were also good. I may return the next time that I'm in Copenhagen.

Appetizer: fish row on potato pancake with dips of creamy cottage cheese

Cousy place with very friendly service. We were a walk in on Friday evening. The place was full but they still find us a table. Dish of the day was salmon with white and green asparagus. Was excellent. Fish row on a tiny potato pancake and drops of creamy cottage cheese with chopped parsley was an usual combination. One appetizer, two main courses, one Kir Royal came to Euro 70. In comparison with Washington prices for similar place, service and quality of food, this is very reasonable.

Food: 3.0/5.0 Service: 3.0/5.0 Value: 2.5/5.0 Decor: 3.0/5.0 Overall: 3.5/5.0 Located on the super tourist-trappy Nyhavn waterfront, Cap Horn serves okay food at a price point that's extremely expensive by US standards for the quality but somewhat acceptable given the street and the city/country. The service was friendly but a little slow and disorganized. The house beer was surprisingly good.

Excellent little place in Nyhavn. We ordered several of the smorrebrod and they were all delicious. Everything is advertised as organic, even the wine we ordered. Lovely atmosphere - I felt like our two kids (1 & 3) were a bit out of place. Nevertheless, the two ladies serving us were wonderful and welcoming. The prices were expensive, but no more than I've seen everywhere else in Copenhagen. Highly recommend!

Lovely little restaurant on Nyhavn. The pumpkin soup was a excellent start. We both had the salmon and it was delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff who spoke good English. Especially appreciated Dennis who helped get a taxi when it started raining.

I came here for lunch since we wanted to sit outside on the Nyhavn waterfront in Copenhagen. We ordered the lunch sets (3 open faced sandwiches) for about $20 which is not bad since the restaurant is in a very touristy area. The sandwiches (egg salad, roast beef, fish cake) were pretty and delicious. The service was a bit slow probably since it was very crowded in the restaurant.

herrer Smørrebrød great danish dish with sour dry bread, butter fish with creamy potato, mayonnaise and spices

Great Danish restaurant, service is fast, quiet, good selection of typical danish food, you can also find burgers that according to some locals they say are great. the pace has a good view of the harbors on the outside you do not know what to expect to be honest but once you are inside and try the different options they have and excellent service price is . €€ but it is worth to try

Pan fried sole with cabbage & leeks
Justin W.

The only place in this area which is open for food after 10pm but that doesn't mean the food was bad or late night junk food. The beef was cooked as requested & my friend loved it. The fish was delicious and the cabbage/leeks made a great addition. A bowl of new potatoes were provided for us to share and were tasty. A great meal & friendly staff. When they get busy the staff are less attentive and service markedly becomes disappointing.

The food was amazing And very well seasoned. The vegetables and fish were extremely fresh and the presentation was excellent. I also ordered a cappuccino and the espresso was extracted perfectly and the cappuccino art was great.

Really nice place to have dinner here in Copenhagen!! Calm place, in front of a canal next to the opera Theatre and a metro station, we tried to est outside...and it was in an unexpected way warm!!! Long day until 9.40pm and silence really appreciated in a capital city! So talking about the food, I had a Sole (entire) with green vegetables and potatos with butter...one main course and it was almost enough to be completely satisfied!! We finished with some typical Danish cheese, served with a dark bread and butter... And don't forget to drink your Karlsberg beer :)

The restaurant's design is definitely minimalist with simple blank walls and a comfortable mix of fake and real plants. There was no air conditioning but they found a fan to keep us comfortable- we were amazed that more folks in the full restaurant weren't sweating the way we were. Perhaps the locals are more used to the summer heat with no AC than we were. We had the 3-course prefixe meal with my my wife and daughter on the standard menu while I was on the vegetarian track. The website says that Host is the Danish word for harvest, and that their focus is "on the Scandinavian kitchen with lots of surprises." The staff used the word "surprises" explicitly, using it to describe the amuse-bouches and palette-cleansing bites served between the advertised courses. We started with a flight of croquettes with cheese and I think my wife and daughter had something like a smoked fish hash of some sort while by I had a delightful bite of salad on a molded sweet cookie tart shell. The baby bread loaves with a special butter were lovely - how do you innovate butter? Great job. My first veggie entree was fried carrots with horseradish, which was grand. Next I had a barley risotto with amazing brown beech mushrooms on top. Awesome. There was a spot of potato soup in there somewhere and the best bite of the meal was another of the surprises - a pre-dessert mochi-like shell with strawberry powder on the outside and hazelnut ice cream (I think???) on the inside. The strawberry rhubarb dessert was excellent also. Such a great meal. Loved it.

Like truly, same app, mains, etc. Service was unfortunately just bad - we were served the wrong dish and then charged for the more expensive dish that we weren't even served, took us forever to order another drink or get anyone's attention. I don't blame the staff, they were definitely working across a lot, but after visiting two of this restaurant group's establishment, I could tell the owners of this restaurant systemically overwork their staff. I'd suggest if you are a true gastronomie fan, try to find a restaurant outside of this group! Not a bad restaurant, just feels a little fake if ya know what I mean.

My picky father loved his waffle. And I really enjoyed the porridge I had. The oats perfectly cooked, the apples and almonds gave it a nice textural contrast. Plus the caramel, which was more like a dulce de leche added the perfect amount of sweetness without being too sweet. My mom was a bit ambivalent because the All In was too sweet. But to be fair, All In includes all of their toppings. Including chocolate and caramel so her assessment was fair! The Grød at 7Eleven had this wonderful chia pudding, layered with yogurt, natural peanut butter, a berry compote and nuts and I was obsessed. So simple, yet so wholesome. I found a cup at the airport and proceeded to import it back to the States. Overall, it was definitely worth a visit (or 2) to have my mind blown. I ordered the DANISH NATIONAL DISH and FRIED LIVER (I believe they are #19 and #20 on the menu). Interestingly, the server recommended something similar (another pork belly dish) over the national dish; stating it tastes much better and much softer... which I probably should have went with this recommendation since the national dish was TOUGH AS BONES. It wasn't crispy, chewy, or tasty. It was simply inedible. One couldn't even chew or cut through the meat... the side of skin on mini/small potatoes were simply boiled. The beet dish was delicious. The sauce didn't have much flavor (crazy how extra sauce costs 35 DKK more). The VEAL LIVER dish tasted better than the national dish ironically. Gave a tremendous portion. The potatoes were skinned. The gravy had some taste compared to the other sauce from the national dish. Decadent pickled cucumbers which provided a nice palate cleanser. Mushrooms gave a nice chew, a much appreciated and welcomed different texture. ***the bread given was not good at all*** ***it seems that water, even if it's from the sink or obviously bottled by them, costs money in any establishment*** SERVICE: Kind.
