We were able to have our specialist for speech come in and that was very accommodating and didn't take away from her growth and learning. I see some bad reviews but it's something you should go in and experience yourself as I had no bad experience with this school.

I would HIGHLY recommend against sending your child here if they experience even the slightest developmental delay because will be dismissed, due to not meeting the director's standards. We were at the school for 10 months and had seen three children dismissed that did not meet this absolutely outrageous requirements of toddlers. If your child requires additional love or care during nap time, this is not the place. Their policy is to call the parents to pick the child up for the day if they cannot sleep during nap. The director informed us she had told the teachers not to lay near or console my child during nap time as he is requiring "too much attention". The teachers are kind, but there is a strong disconnection between teachers and administration. As first time parents we entrusted the school with our baby and were greatly let down by administration. We had been working with the teachers on all fronts for son, who has delayed speech, but the acting director had not engaged in any of this until the day she abruptly released my son from school. We had been called to school because our son was not able to nap (which later found out is not a normal policy). When I arrive the director bombarded me and told me our son was being dismissed from school indefinitely and immediately without any advanced warning. As working parents this quite disruptive our family but more than anything our son had to have an intense change in his routine with no chance for adjustment. There was an apparent disconnection between administration and teachers after a change in administration because even the teacher were surprised by this extreme action. I will be the first to say my family is not perfect, but we are all doing our best. We had thought we had chosen a school that conducts itself with patience and respect, but the actions of its Director/Owner Pat made it very clear we were incorrect. With my son's delayed speech, we had been working with early steps to begin his therapies. We had been giving the teachers constant updates, but his development was not meeting the director's standards. She had told me his dismissal was due to his interruptions in class and outbursts. He had two biting incidents in the 10 months we were there and had been hands on, but we were told by teachers this was normal while his speech was progressing. We received no notes of Pat interacting with my son, and the first day she approached me regarding him was the day she kicked us out of school. She also immediately shared my child's confidential disciplinary actions with another parent, which is in direct violation of state licensing guidelines. I hope this review can help another parent make a decision that is right for your family. In camp and the school my child is now attending since this incident, it has been night and day with the patience and respect we are receiving from not only the teachers but the administration as well. My son attending this school from 12-22 months.

As a dual city dweller, I was looking for a part-time place to enroll my two kids at when we are in…read moreNOLA. There are many schools in New Orleans, but not many good ones. There are three categories: subsidized childcare, working-class, or elitist schools to choose from. I would say Cathedral Montessori ranks at working-class affordability, and by that, you would have to be making $50K-$75K gross annual income (pending how many kids you are enrolling). It's on the pricier side but definitely affordable, and definitely worth the bucks. From the moment I drove up to the school, I hearted it. The school is a large house, located in the Lakeview area, behind the Greek Orthodox Church. The building is completely designed and setup like a school. Very open and airy. The division of each room is strategically and perfectly laid out. Lots of learning tools, and being that it is a Montessori curriculum, there is a lot of learn through play going on. Their kitchen area, neat and clean with fresh bananas for the children. Each week a parent is assigned the duty of providing snacks. The older kids are in an unattached building on the property, and that too was very spacious. The courtyard area had lots of toys for the kids, and there was even a garden that they grow vegetables and flowers, as part of their science curriculum. I was told they had butterfly's they recently released. Seems like they do a lot of fun activities. The children looked very happy and the group of children attending was New Orleans version of mixed (diversity). I had an excellent interview with the Director, Jan. Seeing my children interact so well with the other kids, I was ready to enroll them that day.
