I can't sing enough praises about alphabet academy and the teachers. I love the owner Shanna, and teachers Brandi, and Devi. They LOVE children. To know your kids are in a safe place, being nurtured and well loved while at work is the most comforting feeling. My son is now in 1st grade and started there when he was one. My daughter was lucky enough to get in as an infant after my maternity leave and is almost five. They have raised my children along side me. They serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack which is huge in my day to day life to not have to pack this for them. They have a nice daily routine with working learning, crafts, naps and play time. I am so very thankful I found Shanna and her team. Hope you get a spot here if you are looking for childcare. This place should be closed. Steer clear!! To date AAW is responsible for interfering in custodial matters. Releasing a child to a parent who isn't signed on a contract while failing to answer repeated calls from the contracted parent. Resulting in child being whisked way for a week to unknown destination or knowing the well being of my child. AAW further failed to even own up or apologize. Questionable billing statements and contrived fees. Poor food quality. Violating Hippa law, discussing billing matters with people other than the contracted parties I have found the owner and daughter to be repeatedly dishonest. I was called to pick my son up due to throwing up. They didn't tell me he had been pushed and hit the back of his head Then started throwing up. Lastly, We showed up at opening to find the owner passed out on the floor. Nice! They may be cheap but as it goes, you sure do get what you pay for. I also discovered I'd been over paying totaling $880.00 in child care fees to which the owner, Shana naturally refuses to refund. read more

Years ago when my daughters were both pre-schoolers at Alphabet Academy I left a review. Somehow Yelp has now purged that review and I find that a bit puzzling. Which leads me to writing this accolade years later because we are proud Alphabet Alumni. We had many amazing years where our daughters were happy and learning. It was a great platform before going off to elementary. Today we're lucky that our youngest sometimes gets to take the school bus at Alphabet and she always pops her head in and enjoy the smiles and hugs. My two-and-a-half year old started at Alphabet Academy West Side about 6 weeks ago and I am really impressed with the place. First... the cons... because everyone always wants to know the bad stuff right off the bat... The playground equipment and the toys are a little older... they are not the newest or the fanciest... but the kids still have a great time playing with them. They are also a full 18 minutes away from my house... which means that dropping off and picking up is a 40 minute round trip. In some big towns that is nothing... but in Bend - that is a serious commute! But... There is SO much love in this little daycare. The first day that I dropped off was with Shauna (at least I think it was Shauna)... when we walked in, she was sitting on the floor playing with trucks with some of the boys. She saw us come in and took a moment to tell the kids that she would be back. She came over to me and my son (in the interest of child safety and protecting his privacy - let's just call my kid Spiderman), briefly said hi to me, and then began what I feared would be a lengthily, tear-filled process of coaxing Spiderman to release his death grip on my legs. The conversation went something like this: Shauna: [down at Spiderman's level] Hi Spiderman... we are so excited that you are coming to play with us again today. Spiderman: [buried his head in my legs and increased his death grip] Shauna: Oh my goodness... that is such a nice toy you have there. Is that a teddy bear? Spiderman: [with a face like thunder and still maintaining his death grip] No... it's a kitty. Shauna: It's a kitty? Oh wow... That is such a cool kitty. Does your kitty have a name? Spiderman: [face very distrusting... one handed death grip] Meow-meow. Shauna: Meow-meow is an EXCELLENT name for a kitty. I bet when your kitty talks he goes meow-meow-meow-meow. Spiderman: [look of total amazement... how does this person KNOW this stuff] Yaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! Shauna: Well Spiderman... you see those kids over there... I was playing cars with them... would you like to come and play cars with us? Spiderman: [back to slightly distrustful] Can Meow-meow come? Shauna: [holding out her hand] Of COURSE Meow-meow can come... he can even have his own car if he wants. Do you think he would prefer a truck or a car or a fire engine? Spiderman: [Happily running off with Shauna... leaving me in the dust] He would like a fire engine! Me: [thinking what the heck happened to my baby boy?] Excuse me Mister... Mommy needs a hug and a kiss goodbye before you play with trucks and fire engines. Spiderman: [Happily gives me a hug and kiss goodbye and trots off to play trucks] And that was that... I was sold... my kid was sold... even the silly stuffed cat was sold. Every morning of the first week was some sort of variation of this... different teachers... different conversations... but always getting down to his level... engaging him... and getting him excited to go play with the other kids. When I picked up was when the teachers had the conversations with me about how his day was and what he had done. Now when I pick up I have to bribe him to get in the car with me because he wants to stay and play. I am so relieved that I found a place where the teachers are so involved with the kids... and where my kid wants to go. It is so much easier for me to be a working parent knowing that my kid is happy. Some other things that are awesome: They start each day with work books and name writing. At the two-and-a-half level, they get to trace their name until they can write it themselves. But Spiderman has been going there for 6 weeks and, at only two-and-a-half can recognize his name and write some of the letters. He has learned to color in as opposed to just scribbling with a crayon... he can even somewhat stay in the lines. They go outside several times a day every day (except if it is really smokey or if it is below 40 degrees). Watch out... they do get dirty... don't send them to daycare in their good clothes! They have show and tell each Friday. Every time I have been there, the teachers have been fully engaged with the kids and have appeared to be really happy with their job. They love the kids! What more can you ask for? read more

We searched all over town for the perfect childcare and early learning center for our children. We had two boys attend AA from 8 weeks to 5 years old. We loved the staff and the service. They were all nothing but highly professional, considerate, outgoing, and incredibly caring for our boys, and all of the children there. Deciding upon a childcare facility for two full time working parents is a huge deal - this was essentially our boys' second home. And, by all means did we feel 100% comfortable with them being there. I hope that you will take a look for yourself and see if this facility is the right fit for your little one. We sure were happy with the 8 years of service they provided our family! read more

Removed my child and decided to make a review finally. After some checking, the reports of donuts for breakfast, white bread, and cheap processed foods was observable. Of course, kids like all the sweets- no complaints from them, but our family has different ideas on diet. I need my child to eat healthy clean food. Also, felt uncomfortable after this event: she was sick throwing up and I was called and brought her home. Next day she said she had fallen while playing. Okay so, I have no way of finding out what's true at this point, but I feel I should have been told ( if ) my child fell. And I would hope they were watching. I know kids fall off swings and equipment - it's part of growing up. However, had I known my child had fallen, I would have watched for possible concussion symptoms rather than assumed she had a simple flu bug. It all turned out okay but the combination of the diet, the possible oversight, and the young age of the help at AA Westside resulted in us taking children to another daycare. read more

Alphabet Academy was the best school for my daughter, she stared at the age of two and is now 5. She started kindergarten this past September and her teacher was very impressed she already knew how to write her name, count past 50, identify shapes and colors and much more. The teachers at alphabet academy are very encouraging. I'm so thankful I chose this school, hours and pricing was great too. read more
