Horrible management. Awful outdated apartments. Awful crime. Broke lease because we felt unsafe after a shooting, & after someone came plowing through the parking lot, smashing into cars. Valid reason to break lease. Lease was up in 2 months. Was charged almost 4K. They said carpets were ruined. Which was funny because when we moved in there were burn holes in the carpet: I had someone professionally clean carpet, before I moved in. The carpet was pulling black. They also said the carpets had been cleaned prior to me moving in. Carpets were cleaned again at move out. Weidner property's are crap. read more

ALPIN APARTMENT BUILDING 5311 MOCKINGBIRD DR This place are a bunch of crooks and charge crazy amounts and put this on your rental account saying this is what you owe. Then tell you that you have to pay this or be evicted. They added a charge for utilities saying this is what utilities cost. But on the lease I signed it said that utilities would be $55 on top of the rent. But they charged an extra $139 as well saying this is the amount that is for utilities. On top of the outrageous charges the apartment is not taken care of and the company does not do anything to repair anything. I called and sent messages for the mice issues in my apartment and they just brought my apartment 2 mice traps and that was their idea of fixing the issue. Then water was coming from my ceiling in the bathroom and they took days to repair this. While repairing this they left my apartment a complete mess leaving trash in my bathroom where they were repairing the leak. They cut a hole in the ceiling and left all the dust and trash in the bathroom and I came home to have to clean it all up. Alpine apartments is not a good place to live. They will lie about you to the court. They said I owe $8000. to them when I have been paying the rent to them. So now I am homeless cause of them trying to get a new and better place to live is not working cause they did a eviction on me and didn't take it off my record like they said they would do if I just leave. I left and now I am homeless. My advice avoid ever renting through Weidner they are a horrible place to rent from and are a bunch of crooks. Who just want money and are not there for the people. But if you don't mind living in a smelly building that has mice every where then this the place for you. But if you like to live in a nice clean place with good management this is not it. They really suck at The Alpine apartments. AVOID AT ALL COST LIVING HERE THEY ARE A BUNCH OF CROOKS WHO LIE. read more

This place is terrible. Director James sometimes tries to solve problems, but everyone else is a wreck. They'll walk all over you, and your problem won't be fixed. There will be mice in your unit, and your neighbors will smoke weed, and the stench will reach you. But no one could solve our problem. Same your money and go else where. It'll end up costing the same as Alpine. My building smelled like dog piss the moment you walked in. The elevator worked 50% of the time and if it breaks down on a Friday, it won't be fixed till next week. I was stuck one day and was late to work. I had submitted a written move out date (3 months in advance) to the office but never was told that I have to verbally tell them I was leaving the day of. If you don't have time to read a long review, here is my gist: DON'T waste your time at Alpine. Especially if you don't have a pet and don't smoke. Find a better, cleaner place. Rent is not even cheap once you take into account the fact that you pay for laundry, electric, whatever utilities they add to your rent (I think water and trash?) and the flat fee for gas. This place is smelly and not well kept. If you have a pet and are a smoker, you might not mind it. (In this case, Alpine might be a good fit, and that's great!) Now I will go into a bit more detail. I have exactly three nice things to say about Alpine. We'll say the minimum one star is for these reasons. 1. The staff is great. Very friendly and helpful every time we interacted with them! 2. They offer a 4month lease. A bit difficult to find elsewhere. 3. Our one bedroom apt was pretty well laid out. And we had huge south facing windows which we really enjoyed. My family (me,husband,baby) decided to give Alpine the benefit of the doubt after reading reviews. We are very reasonable people. We needed a short term place to live after moving to Alaska, and figured no place would actually be that bad. The first annoying thing is that we planned to move in at 10am on the day our lease began (we actually had an appointment to go through final paperwork with them). The day before move in, we were told we couldn't move in until 4pm. They had at LEAST 2 weeks to prepare our apartment, and so we thought it would be super clean and fresh with all that prep. However immediately upon entering our apt we knew we would be moving out at the end of our (4mo) lease. The carpet was DISGUSTING. "Professional" standard? Yuck. We bought cheap carpet cleaner ($5 can from Walmart) and improved it by eons. There was literal dog poop flecks coming up in the foam. I will say alpine offered to reimburse us for a rug. We took them up on that, and covered the rest of the carpet with our own rugs. So I guarantee the carpet looked better at our move out. We still got charged for carpet cleaning. This is very frustrating, as the "professional" standard seems to have changed within the time of our lease. We decided the $90 isn't worth wasting any more time with Alpine. And they did provide the invoice to prove the carpet was professionally cleaned before we moved in. I was shocked because of how many stains were still in the carpet. It just didn't seem professional. Anyways enough about that. The common areas of the building (at least ours, 5311) were pretty gross. The smell ranges from urine, poop, smoke, weed, and this other hard to place smell that is just awful. We saw actual piles of dog poop in the elevator and stairways more than once. There is pet hair coating all floor surfaces. The cleaning ladies do wonderful work, there's just no way they can keep up with the constant pet traffic. Again, this may not bother you if you have a pet yourself. Washers were pretty dog hairy too. But tolerable if I just cleaned each one out before using. All in all we did not love Alpine and I have two major, honest suggestions to make it a better place: 1. Use hardwood in the entire apartment. WAY easier to clean and wouldn't have to deal with disgusting poop stains on carpet. 2. Hire more cleaners. This way the common areas wouldn't smell so bad. I just want to share information for those who feel they're getting railroaded by this company. You know you can take them to court for your deposit right? Though honestly i wait for them to attempt to take me to court, and then reply to their dispute and trust and believe these folks do not want to go to court because if you the tenant have pictures and evidence of your claims the judge will normally rule in your favor. Before moving out completely make sure to take pictures of your cleaning job at move out. And please get a landlord tenant handbook. You'd be surprised how many of these lease agreements are NOT LEGAL, or have items within them that ARE NOT LEGAL. And a judge knows what is and isn't legal for a landlord to demand within a lease agreement. The judge is not going to grant them half those fees especially if it seems egregious. Landlords are responsible for repainting and changing carpet, especially if you have lived there 3-5yrs or more. If you find yourself waiting days for a fix, notate that information and keep records. Take pictures of questionable fixes. Keep a record of your rental in a file and clean your unit upon move out, then take photos of that too. Remember these landlords are operable as civil disputes in court cases that's all they are is a basic civil dispute, and you don't even need a lawyer. I've won every time I've had to sue or dispute a lawsuit and I've never used a lawyer once. But i keep documentation on my rental, i notate every time that i call or contact the landlord, and why. Did i need them to fix something, was there a repair or loss, did they come to fix the problem, and was it a cheap fix that could potentially put you the tenant in danger? Seriously folks get the landlord tenant handbook. Ask your landlord for a copy. (That's the last thing they want you to read). It's been my best friend for 20years. And remember weidner owns like 70% of the properties in Alaska. However every property has a different manager. Some are very honest and great people who will not try to charge you illegally. Record everything on video. Apartment viewing, signing leases, everything they say to you. Office phone not answered, unanswered emails. They act nice and the grounds appear good but have the poorest treatment after signing a lease. People smoke indoors, the ice isn't cleaned up in the winter, people scre in the parking lot at 2am, cigarette butts everywhere including inside, they are deceptive and will steal anyone's security deposit, even a good tenant. They will put up air fresheners before showing a room to mask the building smell. Get on FB marketplace or Craigslist and go with anyone but Weidner read more

We move out of here in few weeks. Just a few warnings before you sign a lease. There are rodents that will be going through your apartment. Management lies to tenants about it, but I have seen it multiple times for myself. The people here are not safer than the people anywhere else in anchorage. I still get harassed. Things still get stolen. People still have been shot here and even some have died here. If you are not a fan of having meth heads for neighbors then this is not the place for you. If you want to have a clean living space, then this is not the place for you. If you want a lease that has zero illegal clauses in it, again... this is NOT the place for you. If you don't enjoy having your door bell rang obnoxiously at 12 am by drunk or high people, this might not be the place for you. If you don't enjoy maintenance workers walking into your apartment unannounced, guess what? This isn't the place for you! They lie to you making you think this place is safe, it is not. I have even been hit on in an extremely creepy way by a working security guard. The elevator inspection expired in 2015. About 7-8 months later and they still haven't even begun to repair earthquake damage. As you can imagine, I did not enjoy my time living here. I saw most of the reviews were from years ago so let me write this having just moved in. The staff from beginning to end of the lease singing is very friendly and helpful. I got a top floor unit and with the heat had to ask for a fan or ac unit. They are installing a window unit within the next three days and installing screens to keep the bugs out as the windows stay open all day. I love the view and although the studio apartment is a bit rustic it's clean and has everything I need with plenty of storage space. Would definitely recommend read more

So this company is a collection of bottom feeders, they do the absolute minimum of repairs and maintenance in the cheapest ways while you live there then when you move out they over charger you for repairs and you basically pay to make their apartment like new. We lived there three years and without writing a novel I will tell you a key example. Our door did not hang straight so we could not lock it. It was so worn out that the hinge was falling off and I kid you not the guy they sent to repair it said " oh I am going to go get a pair of chop sticks and some wood glue". He wood glued the chop sticks in the hole and they screwed a new bolt in... and that was it. Our door was able to be locked but seriously? I can see that as a temporary fix but it stayed that way for years. I had to call the police so many times with noise complaints. They will make it super easy to move in but really difficult to move out. We lived there three years. My husband got military orders to move, they didn't want to let us out of the lease, charged us for another month because we were one day short of the 30 day notice, over a weekend when they weren't open. When we moved out they kept our $500 deposit sent us an invoice for $1500 for replacing the carpet, $350 for cleaning the carpet, and then a list of cleaning charges. When we called to ask why we were paying to clean the carpet if it was to be replaced they said " oh well that was an error on our part, that fee was really for the cleaning.....". We told them we didn't except those charges and they said fine if you don't pay it we will send you to collections. Needless to say we will be contacting an attorney ASAP. Their reputation is as bad as rumored, just read all the other reviews. They prey on those that don't have any other option financially and treat them like dirt. So if you can avoid this company please do so. We went an entire week in January without heat because they could not get their act together to fix the boiler and they offered no compensation beyond lending very few space heaters. Honestly, I read the bad reviews and thought "it couldn't be that bad." I was wrong, theres rodents that hide behind the dishwasher when it starts getting cold out, they find "loopholes" to get out of doing things like giving a tenant 24 hours before entering and having maintenance/service walking in whenever without warning, hit you with any little fee. They get you with your security deposit when you move out with petty things like some crumbs in the cupboard. Definetely a lot of dog poop all over the grass, no one picks up after themselves. the only thing that made it bareable was that the living room had a big window and let in a good amount of light read more

Okay, I went in to view an apartment here and they showed me a 'Show' apartment, at the time I thought it was great so I made a deposit to move in for a month later. 5 days later I read reviews on the place and my friends were telling me how they're not so good. So I changed my mind. I was told the day I viewed the apartment I could get a refund if Something came up, BUT they failed to tell me that day that it wouldn't be the full refund. Overpriced, never updated, will show you a perfect showcase apartment and tell you yours will be even better, then when you move in, you'll be shocked to see it's nothing like it. Sadly I have to leave at least 1 star and can't leave the well-deserved and earned -5 stars. My brother and me have live here almost 9 years. I'm not exaggerating when I say in that during time, Once has anybody ever answered a call when I called the Office. Then when you get tired of trying to call and decide to just walk over there is a 50/50 chance it will be open. I have filed so many noise complaints and ALL are 100% ignored. The people above us must weigh a few hundred pounds each and into aerobics. Everything in our apartment will shake "EVERYTHING" even the water in the fish tank. You can see the Sheetrock on the ceiling bow. Dishes rattle in the cupboards, Stuff on the counter rattles, pictures on the walls rattle. The people below us have even complained about the racket thinking it was us. An Alpine employee lived next to the people and was complaining, still nothing was done. This racket goes on from 7am to 4 am and almost EVERY day. Laundry equipment works sometimes, there are 5 washers and 6 dryers for the entire building. Yes, some jerks love to fill all the washers and then leave for the day. Management says the same thing "every time". We gave them a 10-day notice to stop. I'm getting more and more convinced it's family, close friends or somebody getting paid off to let it happen. The only reason we stay here is my brother has dogs and they allow dogs here read more

If I could give this complex 0 stars I would. Since I've moved in 5 months ago I've had nothing but problems. Strange men peeping in my windows. Children tapping on my windows to annoy my cat. The hallway reeks of who knows what. And my neighbor is a giant pot head which has recently been causing my unit to smell like marijuana as well. For a non smoking asthmatic person that's a issue. Carpet was bad when I first moved in, had to deal with rude carpet businesses Alpine had connects with until finally Alpine I think went ahead & used someone else after several attempts to fix the carpet issue. Bathtub is very old & uneven, they said 1980's tub??? I asked if they could replace it because the water doesn't drain well due to how it sits, but Alpine didn't want to, & so now I shower with water above my feet every time. Blinds are old & broken, when I wanted replacements, the maintenance guy said he would fix it but never came back with the new blinds or bulbs for lights. Some things are a little dated, old appliances like the cooking stove & vanity in the bathroom. Sometimes the floor is super squeaky usually meaning loose nails. Outside did have a bunch of trash but that's the tenants, for some reason they go out & throw trash on the ground when there are trash cans by the exits & trash bins at every apartment building. Usually quiet except for the howling dogs left at home alone or the occasional motorcyclist revving their engine or the kids playing & yelling past 9p or the main hwy west of Alpine. Still having trouble with my mail box, I believe it gets tampered with, told the office but all they really did was give me two new keys & an old key to fix that problem which I ended giving up on. Lease terms were ok when I first signed up but it is different now, 9-12 months. They say one month renewal notice but it comes sooner, 2 months sooner having you trying to search for a new place way too advanced in time that nothing will be available for that time frame & too soon for you to make a decision to stay with Weider & their "profits" to keep you there. The hallways & elevators stink, most likely due to smoking/ smokers & no cleaning. Parking is ok, I can always find a spot plus you get a tag for your visitors to park but expect plenty of ice & lakes in the lot. Price is a little high for what it is & they don't tell you that it fluctuates between 20-40 dollars whether it be summer or winter. read more

This place is the worst place you could ever want to live. Beginning with the apartment complex first, it is very dirty, dog crap is all over the place, the hallways smells like cigarettes and icy hot. The apartment is self is run down. The floors are old and raggedy, they substitute doors for sliding curtains, the appliances are old and last but not least It is raggedy. You cannot get anything shipped to your apartment. People steal your packages in the hallway. People leave trash in the hallway and management does nothing about it. Multiple cars were broken into in the apartment complex parking lot. The worst thing about alpine apartments is management and the front office. If you have any emergency, whether or not the office is open or closed, when you call you more than likely to get the answering machine. Last but not least when you are moving out they will not give you paint to paint over any scuffs on the wall. Then they will charge you around $500 to paint that. Even if you said the carpet was tore up in your beginning agreement they will charge you for damages in the carpet. The person doing the inspection with you will fudge the numbers in order to get a profit out of you leaving their terrible apartments. The problems I listed is just a fraction of what me and my family dealt with. If you are in need of a place and this is the last place on earth I would suggest sleeping outside in the snow. read more

My wife and I had a short term lease since we just needed a place to stay from the time our house sold till the time we left the state. We moved in June 31 and moved out July 15 or so. After our initial walk through upon moving in, we settled in for the night. That night we found the tub drain backed up, a strong chemical-like smell throughout the apartment and the oven inoperative. This was reported to Noah the following day (Saturday) when I ran into him since it was Saturday and the office was closed. I then let the office know first thing when they reopened after the holiday. I told them that since we were only going to be there for a few weeks to not worry about it. Prior to moving out, Noah did the walkthrough and said all was well except for the carpet shampooing (60.00), which we agreed to. Fast forward to September 2 and my deposit just arrived. My 500.00 deposit shrunk to 381.07. I was told it would be 60.00 to shampoo the carpet when we left, which is a rip-off, but I didn't argue. By my math, they still owe me 58.93. Why is my deposit short? Lets see how long it takes them to make this right. I'll be calling them Tuesday morning after Labor Day and will make it worth my time to pursue this. I will follow up when more information becomes available. Fast forward to Tuesday the 5th...spoke with someone at the Alpine office in Anchorage. He stated that carpet cleaning was invoice plus $20.00. I don't have a copy of the lease so I can't check that (my bad). He then said our refrigerator needed to be cleaned ($40.00). Cleaned?!?!?!... We were there for two weeks and most of what we ate was take-out. There was no spillage or whatever in their refrigerator. He'll have to check with the guy that did the moveout walkthrough after Noah's moveout walkthrough when he returns Thursday. Prepared to get bilked out of your money. The washers and dryers work with money you put on a card, and not all buildings have a card reader alowing you to put cash on them. Mind you only denominations of 5,10, 20$. It is comon place to have maintenaince ignore your pleas there is the smell of natural gas in the building and no heat or hot water. RUN AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN!!!!! If I could rate this complex with a zero I would!! I have rented from Weidner properties three different times over a ten year period, each time I have rented from Weidner it's been a complete shit show... The 1st time I rented with Weidner it was at there club apartments on Lake Otis and Dowling, I lived in one of their units for a year, when I moved out I was overcharged for everything. I apparently wasn't the only one who was overcharged, because there was a class action lawsuits against them which I ended up getting a settlement from. The 2nd time I rented from Weidner I lived in the Legacy apartments which are on Oklahoma street on the frontage in Muldoon. At this unit they had to terminate my lease, at my request, because there were pigeons living in my ceiling!!! They were procreating, shitting and literally dwelling in my ceiling... Pigeons poop is extremely dangerous to humans. Pigeons carry a lot of different diseases that are deadly to humans. The 3rd apartment that I rented from Weidner was at their Alpine apartments off of Brayton drive between Dowling and Tudor. At this apartment my tub wouldn't drain because it was uneven from all the patch work they had done on it, the springs on my mattress were popping out, and worst of all they convinced me to sign a 6 month lease with the promise of replacing my mattress, replacing the waiting room chair in my apartment and get me supplies for my kitchen like the basic pots and pans a furnished unit should automatically come with... They never replaced my mattress, and worst of all when my active duty husband came down on orders to PCS to a new duty station they would not terminate my lease because I didn't sign a military addendum at the time I signed the lease.... I have been let down time and time again with Weidner! Why would I continue to rent from them? Because each time I hope that they have gotten their shit together... And each time I am completely let down and disappointed that once again I allowed myself to be dooped by these sleaze bags. For the money and the size of the apartment its not that bad, their clean, quite and convenient for shopping and access to where ever you want to go. As far as allowing dogs it was my main consideration for choosing Alpine apartments. The staff does need to enforce the dog rules because some residents do not clean up after their dogs very well. For Anchorage the prices are not that bad you will look long and hard to find a cheaper and nicer apartment. read more

Location is good, but hate it's located off a one way road. I'm only here because they accept pets and I needed to find a place in two days. Expensive rent for a very old outdated apartment. they never replace or really fix anything. nasty stained carpet from previous pet owners, cheap kitchen sink faucet that I feel like breaking my wrist on each time I use, linoleum needs replaced, ceiling tiles look all jacked up like they're gonna fall on you one day, heating system sucks, too hot or too cold and its not distributed evenly throughout, barely have hot water for showers, had a bug problem before I sprayed down every corner of my place, seem to find things crawling around a lot, ugh the entire building needs to be updated. Had toilet issues that drove me insane. Maintainence finally came after a couple weeks and didn't do much. After experimenting with it myself I finally fixed it to work good enough until the entire thing can be replaced in the future. first time doing laundry here I had some of it stolen. so angry and the staff did nothing for me. Everyone I've talked to hates it here. My neighbor commented that he rather be out more than be home here. I feel the same. If not working, I'm out with friends, or go someplace else I can spend my time more than here. It's pet friendly, that's all i got to say about this place. and they charge you out the ass for them. The units already look like shit, doubt my dog could do anymore damage. Avoid this place if you can! It all started off OK, but then shortly went to heck in a hand basket. The apartment I live in gets down to about 65 F in the winter, when it gets really cold outside. Tempuratures in my apartment are LARGELY controlled by the outside environment. My upstairs neighbors stomp around all hours of the day and night, making it IMPOSSIBLE to concentrate on anything or even think. The staff was largely helpful when we initially moved in, but once we were in, they dragged their feet on making anything right with the heat or any other maintenance issue. Of the several complaints we have put in about things around the community via the online complaint/maint requests, we got response to none of them. The only way I get any response out of any of the staff is to actually go into the office and talk directly to them. Maintenance goes into my apartment for maintenance requests, but leave no notes stating what they did, where they were, what they fixed, or even if the issue is fixed at all. Alpine staff has a HUGE communications issue that they really need to address with their staff. There is no point to emailing in complaints, and asking for maintenance if i'm not going to get any sort of response or communication from them, without having to corner them in their offices. Also, the security is a joke. I got a request from Alpine to do a review the day AFTER there was a major car crash in the parking lot of the apartments. Due to security not locking up the back gate, these guys were able to come in, and wreck 4 cars in the parking lot.
