Do not recommend. Misdiagnosed initial problem. Had purchased correct part that needed to be replaced. Mechanic very rude. Spoke to owner who could have cared less. Two weeks and vehicle still not repaired. Drove it off the lot to another mechanic. If I made them angry when inquiring on status of vehicle. Tough. Have fixed it anyway. And for work done for incorrect diagnosis. $200/hr. read more

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! My husband and I were hiking in Big Bend when our truck broke down. Sixto Towing towed us to Alpine Auto Maintenance, where Wes took great care of us. He fixed the radiator hosing and more in about an hour late on a Friday- if it wasn't for him, we would have been stranded all weekend. Can't say enough good things. The first week in November my neighbor and I took off for Big Bend National Park. Great ride towards the park staying Marathon. Next morning we were off, he in the Sling Shot and I in the Vanderhall, Ten miles into the park a truck passed us throwing a small rock into the radiator ending my trip. Got a tow by Sixto Wrecker Service into Alpine 80 miles away to Wes at Alpine Auto Maintenance. Had to order parts from Vanderhall Motors and Wes fabricated a radiator screen so that does not happen again. I am late in writing this review. Last October I was heading into Alpine, Texas to attend the last home game of the Sul Ross State University Lobos. As I was approaching Marathon, 30 miles east of Alpine, a coolant hose burst on my Boxster. The Shell Service station in Marathon had an easy rider tow truck so they hauled me into Alpine. I found Alpine Auto Maintenance and could not believe how lucky I was. The owner there knew more about Boxsters than the dealership here in Corpus Christi. I cannot praise him enough. Because it was a weekend, nothing could be done until Monday, so I had to rent a car to drive home, but went back the next weekend. The car was fixed and a remarkably reasonable price. Our battery failed while on the road trip in west Texas - something that could become a big deal very quickly. The car's symptoms were not entirely straightforward initially. While most shops were on an appointment only, they helped with an inspection to check out the steering mechanism and then a few minutes later came and jumped up at the service station when the car finally gave out completely. Rip off. Charged me $53 to replace one low beam light bulb of my Toyota Camry. Said the light bulb cost $13 and 0.4 hours of labor cost $40, when most of the 0.4 hours was spent waiting for the part to arrive because their shop did not have stock for the light bulb. I had my light bulb replaced in Santa Monica, California before. It only took 5 minutes and they only charged me $10. They did let me cut in line though. They were fixing other cars and they switched to me first. read more

We had a wonderful experience with Wes at Alpine Auto Maintenance. He was very accommodating when we arrived after closing time with a tow truck. We thought there was a bearing problem, but he diagnosed a different, less expensive problem, and fixed it. He could have taken advantage of us, since we were just traveling through, but he did not. We broke down just outside of Alpine Texas with our Chevy Silverado 3500 and were towed to Alpine Auto Maintenance. Wes was very polite and friendly to deal with. He secured the necessary parts and fixed our problem. His prices were very reasonable as we expected the bill to be much more than it was. You never know when you break down so far from home. Wes was so honest and helpful. I was driving from Austin up to Santa Fe on a trip with my kids with a stop in Alpine. My car starting shaking and my ABS lights went on an hour outside Alpine. I drove slowly into town (didn't shake as much) and called AAM the next morning. The shop was super busy but he said if I brought my car in he would drive it around to rule out certain issues. It turned out it was 2 bad tires causing the shaking and not my ABS! He could have taken advantage and he didn't. It was such a relief and I felt very grateful. I have had much work done at Alpine Auto. I trust them with my life. They've replaced everything on my cars (I had two, 2000 Ex Police Crown Victoria and a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup) from dash lights to an engine and Transmission (The Crown Vic). They have always charged me a price either matching other local business or below their price. Always. They haven't done much to the Ranger, :) I don't drive it as much, so it's not been driven so far or so fast as my Crown Vic. Wes, Drake and the other mechanics (sorry guys, I don't know all of you) have never been anything but courteous, polite and helpful. I should add that I'm 100% deaf, can't hear a train running right in front of me. As soon as Wes found this out, he immediately grabbed a pen and paper and writes out what he needs to tell me.
