After 2 weeks of frustrating phone calls trying to get a different CPAP mask my doctor wanted to try - I see looking at other yelp reviews my frustration is a common occurrence. If not so irritating the responses I havd received are almost comical. Maybe they should listen to their customers feedback and not try so hard to defend themselves. My experience with Alpine Home Medical has included misinformation about insurance coverage, poor customer service in the form of long delays in response time from company leadership, and an unwillingness to take accountability for the words and actions of employees. I came into the store with a prescription for compression stockings. I told the clerk that I only wanted as many pairs as my insurance would cover. I was told by the clerk that he would confirm coverage with my insurance company. The next day, he said the company had confirmed that the specific item was covered and the insurance would cover the full cost of five pairs. After some time, I received a bill of over $650 (the full retail cost) for the stockings. AHM stated that my insurance had denied the claim and they weren't sure why. I contacted my insurance, and it said it does not cover that strength of compression. If APM had actually verified coverage, as they claimed to have done, they would have learned that. I worked with AHM customer service over 8 months and was given different information throughout that time. First, they claimed that my insurance's website statement of coverage seemed to express coverage for this item. I spoke with my insurance, which encouraged me to have APM open an appeal if that was true. The Provo store manager committed to initiate an appeal. After weeks went by without an update and with the manager not answering or returning my calls, the manager said he could not open an appeal and that the website conveyed coverage instead for the general category of durable medical equipment rather than the particular item of compression stockings. He did not adequately explain how AHM could use this to claim, as it did, that my insurance would cover the full cost of exactly 5 pairs. At this point, I asked to be escalated to the store manager's boss and was put in communication with the regional manager. The regional manager said he would follow up ASAP but then failed to update me or respond to my emails for more than seven weeks. His belated, generic response was, "It is clear and standard policy in the health care industry that if for whatever reason the insurance company denies a claim the signee is financially responsible for payment in full as reflected on the signed and dated delivery ticket." He did not explain why the clerk communicated that the company had verified coverage for this specific item and that he had confirmed that my insurance would cover the full cost of five pairs. He did not take responsibility for the apparent misinformation from the representative of his company. This leaves me with no other conclusion than that the company either condones store employees misrepresenting insurance coverage or else refuses to take accountability when employees make mistakes related to insurance coverage. Based on this very frustrating and disappointing experience, I will never use Alpine Home Medical again. I urge others to be very cautious in interacting with Alpine Home Medical. read more

Be very careful if you get anything from this company. I was explained that I would be paying a fee and a deposit to be refunded when I returned the device. When I returned the device I was refunded but then I received an invoice in the mail for additional charges. I called and spoke to two separate customer representatives in billing, one said they would get back to me and they never did. The second Zachary, Sid we may not have explained the billing correctly at time of sale but I'll send you a copy of our contract showing you owe more. Since per the contract I owed more why was I refunded money first? Why was this not explained at the time of service or even when returning the item? Well, over a week after receiving an Rx for oxygen, yes, OXYGEN, they've yet to follow through. I gave up after 5 days of waiting for them to just bring it and set me up, (this was including over a weekend, but hey, people kinda have to breathe 24/7, and that's not counting 2-3 days before that that they had the Rx and simply didn't try to make contact, I thought my doc had not followed through, but she had. They sat on it), I transferred the Rx to another provider. They sent it over, but failed to send the necessary doctor notes and test results they'd received from my doc as well that anyone in the business would know is legally required. After waiting yet another day, they promised to send it asap, and it's been 4 hours, with still no action. Expect to be on permahold, with no action, no follow through. I kinda need the oxygen NOW, not whenever they can be bothered to do their job. My doctor did it right. The new vendor is tapping their feet waiting, waiting, waiting for them to just fax the notes they should have sent with the prescription when I requested the transfer. So, unless it's not a medical emergency, and you have all the time in the world, and you don't care when or if you ever get your supplies, you probably want to seek some other provider. Nobody's going to answer the phone or help you after 5 PM, (or ever, as far as I can tell). Intermountain Home Healthcare will be the option I'm trying next, (they come recommended, and were able to help the person I know in the late hours of the night, like 1am after wow the ER, to get set up with oxygen) whenever they receive the necessary paperwork from Alpine. And I've given Alpine 3 numbers to call myself, a backup number, and the new provider as well, plus their fax (4 ways to potentially communicate). My doctor is out of the office for 2 days, (well deserved time off for the whole office, btw), or I would just have her resend it all to Intermountain Home Healthcare. It's not her fault that Alpine not only dropped the ball, I don't even think they're on the field at all. They aren't even in the game. Run away, find anywhere else. Their apathy and incompetence is unprecedented. I imagine they'll be looking at lawsuits in no time, if they're not up to their necks in them already. read more

My brother rented a hospital bed for my mother. When I called to ask the size so I could purchase sheets, they said it was a full. So I bought two sets of sheets. When it arrived it was a twin XL--a call to Alpine brought the news that all their hospital beds are twin XL--it would have been really nice for me to have gotten the correct information in the first place. Next, they failed to get two more months of rental money from my brother--not sure why--so sent me "collection" notices after two months. I called immediately and told them I hadn't rented the bed so was unaware of the charges being unpaid and asked why they didn't call him. Regardless, we scheduled the bed to be picked up before the next month's payment was due. My brother asked if he could pay the balance and they said "no, let us bill you." So, we thought it was solved. In the meantime, We are now awaiting the bill be to sent. Today, I got another "collection" call. They are really a headache to work with! All calls are routed through the Salt Lake office--you can't reach your local store directly. So it's very frustrating dealing with them. Their customer service is really terrible. read more

Had to go into my local store, as there is no way to get ahold of them without going to the main office in salt lake. I strongly discourage you from buying a CPAP machine from these people. In fact, I wouldn't even do business with them. Instead of including the heated tube and the water tub into the cost of the CPAP machine, they charge extra for those pieces, but I didn't learn that until they had taken $819 for those two pieces and now they're charging a rental fee for the machine for 10 months. The cost of my CPAP machine will end up over $2000. In the future I will buy any supplies for my CPAP machine online. Avoid working with these people. read more

let me begin by saying I only give them one star because you're required to give them at least that otherwise it would be zero stars. I have in my entire career revolves around the medical field, never seen a medical supply company, so inept and incapable as alpine home medical supply. Over 72 hours ago I fractured a bone in my foot and was given a prescription by my physician to go get a boot. Alpine home medical told me that they had them in stock but it would take a half an hour up to four hours to do the paperwork with my insurance because they have centralized their entire corporate process into one location . Over 48 hours later they finally call me to tell me I can go get a boot. Keep in mind this is for a fractured bone that needed to be immobilized. I arrived at Alpine home medical to be told that they are out of stock and can't get them in until Monday, today being a Friday. The gentleman told me that this obviously wasn't handled right and had they known I was coming in they would have ordered it for me. That's when I explain to him that they didn't know I was coming in two days ago and they told me that they were in stock. He offered his apologies, but no resolution. I'm going to the competition even though it means I'm paying out of pocket. Can you imagine if I needed something more critical say oxygen! Needless to say, I would not recommend anyone going to this completely inept system, you would be far better off to drive a little further to receive better and more prompt service. read more

Initially went to another medical supply to get nebulizer however they were not accepted by insurance. Representative from initial medical supply was very helpful calling Alpine Medical Supply to verify insurance and make arrangements for our needs. Came directly to Alpine Medical Supply. New employee working front counter had to get instruction from another employee. My repeated requests to work with the person initially contacted were ignored. Brandon the respiratory therapist was very helpful and set me up nicely. I choose them hoping they would have medical supplies on hand which they have very little of in stock. In fact when I went there to get replacement supplies one time I had to ask the girl at the front counter 3 times just to get her to check if they had anything in stock. Now 9 months after my last service my I'm still receiving bills for which there is no explanation. I've called them 2 or 3 times without getting a return phone call and they have sent me to collections for 5x our original contracted amount which I had given them a credit card payment for. Alpine billing and scheduling people are dishonest and do not care about your health. ONLY your money. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea in June and told that Alpine scheduling would call to get me set up. They called a couple of days later and told me that my deductible had been met and that I only owed $204. I paid it that day over the phone. But did not make an appointment for me to get my supplies. Nope, they waited two weeks to call and make my appointment, AFTER my deductible renewed. They were fully aware that it renewed in two weeks because they had pulled up my account and did the research to know that my deductible was met in the first place. I was oblivious. Three months later I get the automated phone call to renew my supplies, which I desperately was in need of. So I told the auto renew to send my supplies, it said they would arrive in 3-5 days. They never came. About two weeks later I get a bill in the mail for $608.74. So I call in and inquire about it. Huh.... Turns out that since my deductible had renewed between when they told me what I owed, and when they deceitfully scheduled my appointment. I owed them more money. The money they wouldn't have gotten by billing my insurance back in June because the Insurance doesn't allow them to bill what they really want to get. So they get it out of me instead. Do not trust Alpine. Call your own Insurance and check with them first. Also, so everyone knows. You can get all of your Cpap supplies MUCH cheaper online. Cheaper than your out of pocket cost, and WAY cheaper than Alpine will rip you off for. read more

Less than 1 Star. Don't touch this place with a 39 and a half foot pole. We got a breast pump through them and the guy working did a prior authorization and said everything was covered we just had to pay the up charge which we did and then a few months later we get a bill for the whole amount. Not sure what prior authorization he did but somewhere something got screwed up because our insurance denied the claim even though he did a prior authorization. Just frustrating to be told something was covered and you trust them to go through with it and then you get hit with a bill several months later. We obviously wouldn't have gotten the pump there if we had known it was going to be rejected. I guess it's always safest to work with insurance rather than vendors. read more

Provo, Utah store. The worst company I've ever worked with. I was referred by my Dr. Otherwise I didn't know they existed. I use a C-pap machine and so does my husband. When we go to the company that my husband gets his from there is always a line out the door. Don't like that but it means a lot of people go there. When I go to Alpine I'm the only customer in the store. Red flag #1 Every person that works there is a man. Red flag #2 Out of 6-7 people that work there they are all totally different people than the last time I went there a few months ago. Red flag #3 My c-pap machine died after using it 3 months. It was like pulling teeth to get them to replace it. Red flag #4 I literally told them I was going to sit and wait in the store until they gave me a new one. They wanted to go home so they finally helped me. Guess what! The 2nd machine they gave me just died after using it less than a year. What is up with that?!! No surprise I'm pulling teeth again!. They always blame it on the mask and I have proof it isn't the mask because the mask works fine when I use it on my husbands machine. I'm asking my Dr to change me to a different company. We were hooked up with Alpine by our insurance company through the hospital. Our initial interaction with them was great and the driver went above and beyond, returning to the company to get what we needed and then coming to our home later that evening at 9:30pm, he is the only reason this company is getting 2 stars. Fast forward several days when my husband is down to one tank of oxygen so I called for a delivery and a replacement for the condenser since the one we have is so loud we have to put it down the hall to make it bearable to tolerate. They scheduled a delivery for the following day which is today a Friday. We live in a remote location it is true, however, the driver had detailed instructions and was told my husband was home alone. He claims he came to our home and knocked and knocked but no one answered. There was a note on the door telling him to come in for just that reason. He claims he was knocking on the lower garage door. He left and called my husband when he got back into cell service. He told my husband he was sorry but he was not coming back up, he was too far behind and didn't have time. My husband informed him that he only had 1 hour of air left and he said he would call me to meet me in the valley somewhere. Well he never called me so i called him. He was not willing to meet me and told me to go to their store. I was not in my own car and not able to get to the store. I called the store, the assured me that they would send him back out. We sat by the phone all night waiting and never heard anything from anyone. Now it's the weekend and my husband is now tethered to the house for the weekend! Worst customer service ever! I believe the driver didn't want to have to work late and wan unwilling to come back. They are either fantastically incompetent or straight up crooks. I have been on the phone with their billing department 5 times to try and get them to change my mailing address and they can't (or won't) do it. Every time it ends up as some combination of my previous physical address and my po box. One of their mailings that somehow made it to me was four lines long with two cities and two zip codes. They billed me for stuff I never received (either because they mailed it to who knows where or this is their little scam they run) and I called to have them remove the charge they refused. At least I'm only out ~$150 instead of much more. I made sure to cancel my credit card I gave them because I'm pretty sure I know what their repeated promises about not using it again are worth. This company doesn't even receive a 1 star review for PROVO. They have been horrible from the get go. My infant who was on oxygen while he sleeps upon leaving the hospital needed new tanks and because we had just lost our private insurance which allowed me to go to IHC home health ( GO there if you can) I was FORCED to Switch to the Medicaid provider for oxygen Alpine home medical. The driver was good but that is about it. Upon coming to my home they brought me an oxygen condenser and a huge back up tank but no little tanks. Driver left me with a c tank so I was ok to try to work things out. I called and was told they would get some more tanks out to me. I asked for D tanks. After a few days I called to find out when the tanks would be coming I got a we'll have them out to you today. No one showed I couldn't do anything as the one c tank with a bad regulator was gone after not even 2 days. so after calling several times they finally send out 6 c tanks not the d tanks I had asked for and No carrying case or wrench to turn on the tanks. Fast forward 4 days I went through 2 tanks and walked into the store to get a wrench as the pliers I was using I feared would damage the tank. They were fairly nice and changed out my regulator at that time fast forward 10 more days. I took in the 6 empty c tanks and was told I could not get any more because medicaid would not pay for it. I pitched a fit. And was told Medicaid pays for 4 E tanks and that is it but they sent c tanks for easier carrying. WAIT A MINUTE so they send 6 C tanks ( technically 7 thanks to the Driver) which only last 40 hours per tank on 1/16 liter with a good Regulator which last me 280 hours when Medicaid would pay for 4 E tanks which last 6 Days or 144 hours per tank for a total of 576 hours on 1/16 of a liter. NOT EVEN A HALF Of what medicaid would pay for was sent. After throwing a fit did they offer 1 e tank to replace the tanks that were wasted due to the bad regulator, to get me through another 2 weeks limiting how much time I could be out and pushing the limit to get to when Medicaid would pay for new tanks. It is also this time that I find out that every time I called asking where the tanks were in the first place no one told me the dr had written the prescription wrong and the Medicaid clerk helping me, by this time was a jerk, Said "we didn't even get the right prescription til 10 days after we sent the tanks so we were being nice in giving them to you in the first place." NEVER was it communicated that there was a problem if it had been I could have called the dr and told them the prescription needed to be written different because my son was an infant and slept all the time not just at night. SO They still charged Medicaid for the 576 hours of Oxygen when in the end I only received 424 hour worth. STAY AWAY FROM HERE Unless of course you'd like a headache read more

I recently needed durable medical equipment. Within 2 days of the medical clinic ordering the equipment, I was contacted by Kyle. Kyle was kind, courteous, and worked with my insurance company so I clearly understood my financial obligations. A day later, I was contacted by the company to arrange an appointment with Tom, the respiratory therapist. My appointment was within 24 hours. Tom was so professional and courteous. He carefully went over the equipment with me and answered all my questions. He is a wonderful respiratory therapist. Warning. Do not use Alpine home medical especially there Provo location. Or their Salt Lake location and their service department is awful and they don't honor warranties. They sold us a Pride Mobility quantum q6 electric wheelchair 4 / $19,000. They included in the price and upgrade in the seat padding two basic memory foam. One month later they billed us over $800 for these two pads. It was a three-week battle including sending them a copy of the signed paid invoice showing that they were included. They don't honor their warranty. They don't honor battery troubles even within the first year. The people in Provo do not understand this industry or the technology all they want to do is charge as much as possible. Only later to find out that these chairs are only worth 1 - 2000 dollars. Their service manager is extremely rude and the manager of the Provo store so rude hangs up on you. They have a market scam charging Medicare 20 to 30 k. Then once there out the door the value is only 1k, just call & ask them!!!!. It's unbelievable how they take advantage of the disabled and the elderly. They should be ashamed of themselves. Our salesman quit working for them because of this. If you need devices like this go online and you will find a fair and reasonable price which is 1/8 of their price. read more
