I'm a first-time home buyer. I didn't know much about the process, but I do know bad customer service when I see it. I wouldn't recommend Alpine Mortgage to anyone unless you don't mind a consultant who ignores your calls, doesn't communicate or keep you informed, and ignores your agent. Jim Seibert * Did not return calls or texts in a timely manner (to myself or my agent). * Did not keep me apprised of the status of things. * Doesn't listen - I'd tell him things and when he failed to factor it into his next step and I'd ask why, he'd say, "I didn't know that." * When he makes a mistake - and who doesn't - he took no responsibility for it. He would get defensive and list all the things he's done for me, including taking credit for my credit score going up. Excuse me, I didn't realize you were paying my bills! My agent, who's been a Realtor for 20 years, said she'd never dealt with anyone like that in her career. The icing on the cake was when she discovered (quite accidentally) that my loan had actually been suspended! Apparently Jim Seibert didn't think this was important information for my agent or me to know. Perhaps because it was their doing; I know it wasn't mine because I did everything they asked and I did it immediately. My closing required three extensions and I know it wasn't my doing. Finally, after we closed I started getting SPAM from Alpine. When I emailed Jim and asked to be removed from the mailing list, I received another defensive, arrogant response. Kevin Kirk is fantastic. We worked with Alpine Mortgage, and they are not the cheapest, but we got Cadillac treatment and competitive rates. During our search for lenders, we ran into a number of options that seemed great at first, but then turned into nightmares. I will not name the competitors, but will lavish kudos upon Alpine Mortgage. I am at best, a difficult customer, especially where it comes to large scale purchases. I demanded information at every turn and kept shopping around until near the end of our home purchase journey. Kevin was always responsive and made time to speak with my family and I when we "spazzed" out. Purchasing a home is a VERY stressful time and you want and NEED to know that your financing is getting handled capably and surely. Kevin did a lot of the underwriting investigation with us prior to the real underwriting. This made our loan flow much more smoothly. I cannot recommend Kevin enough. He did a great job of mediating disputes with the (idiot) realtor, and provided detailed explanations regarding how the financing process works and what everything means. He stepped up and filled in where our realtor came up short - which is well beyond his job description. This was a first-time home purchase and Michael did everything right to earn the business. He did a great job of managing expectations along the way. While I have only had limited experience with mortgage brokers, I have heard enough horror stories about others in the business to say with confidence that Michael is the real deal. Lyle Innocent has been a true professional. The buyer/borrower he is working with was using a different lender when they wrote an offer on a property I have listed. The buyer got very bad advice regarding their VA eligibility from the previous loan officer, and provided a Pre-Approval that was absolutely worthless. As a result, two weeks into the deal we had a real mess. Lyle and his team stepped in and got to work. With some effort, we reconstructed the deal to give both buyer and seller the same financial outcome, and the delay in closing was kept to under two weeks. Lyle was extremely proactive in keeping me informed, which allowed me to keep the sellers from jumping ship. I did not have a previous business relationship with Lyle, and I am not writing this review at Lyle's (or anyone else's) request. I am writing this review because it's not always easy for buyers/borrowers to find a loan officer who will do ALL the work necessary to get them the loan they need. If you are looking for a loan officer, Lyle Innocent would be a great choice. read more

UPDATE: One less star for the amount of spam I receive related to Alpine Mortgage. I get at least 3 things a week about life insurance for my "alpine mortgage" loan or telling me I have to act now to insure I can make my payment. I expected the mailers from all the companies that get bureau report information and the ADT hawks... but not so much from them. Original review: Really good. Erik Peterson got the loan closed. Short sale experience was terrible with the SELLER's side but that wasn't on Alpine Mortgage. They were ready to go but it made it so we had to do everything last second and rush it and still got it closed the final day we could for the Short Sale approval letters. The team was really good. Everything went well overall. ONLY NEGATIVE: The reason I'd like a 4.5 stars option is that I just don't like the fees wrapped in. Part of my loan included a grant, so I knew the rate would be a bit higher, but closing costs were incredible in the amount. Hoping when I refinance at the height of the housing bubble, and in turn getting 20% equity, I can get a lower rate and COST to refi. Will check with alpine and others. read more

I read a review about another Employee for this company and I am quite jealous of their experience. Everything they said that was good, was the opposite for us: Our loan consultant refused to email the information to both loan signers, and was never easy to reach. Quite often when he didn't have good news, he wouldn't respond to our emails/voicemails for days at a time. We were told that they could do a FHA and 203K, but when it came down to it, they didn't know the necessary steps and led us in circles, doubling our 45 day closing timeline. This company made things so hard and I closed a month late, I barely even got the house because of them not having my paperwork, which I had to give to them over and over again, Thanks to Stacy Medinas whom was very rude not only to me but also my real estate agent and Thanks to Jim Seibert who had the worse communication and was out of the loop and physically gone throughout almost the entire process. I literally broke done in tears and was a nervous wreck the last 3 weeks of the sale because they didnt close when they were supposed to. This was my first time purchasing a home and I had dozens of questions which he answered every one of them. I would never never use or recommend this company. I have been working with Bruce, and I can never get a straight answer. We signed papers on monday after a 45 plus day escrow, and now he says he may get it closed by friday. This is not acceptable. I purchased many homes and have never had to do the work myself. I'm am in complete shock at the incompetence of this company. Very unprofessional attitude from the agent. I was in escrow for 7 weeks due to their negligence in getting the paperwork needed to complete to process. My realtor finally retrieved the paperwork needed. Now they are changing all of the terms and want $12k MORE at closing than the approval and now I have to eat all of the cost I have incurred and have no home. Merry Christmas read more

We worked with Erik Petersen. We did NOT enjoy our experience.He is difficult to get in contact with and doesn't make much of an effort to contact you. We mentioned that we were considering going through a family friend we have in the same bussiness if she could get us a better rate and received and very unproffesional and rude email back. We should have know better than to continue working with him at that point but we did anyway. I understand that these things take time but we had been given specific dates for closing and signing several times and each one came and went without a call or email to let us know what was up. Jim Seibert was referred to us by our realtor. Big mistake. His rates were high, he didn't pay attention (for example, asking me twice in the same conversation if I was a first time home buyer), tried to steer me towards longer loans without asking what I wanted, kept calling me "sir" instead of my actual name in communications, and gave me wrong information when I asked about my credit score being affected by shopping around with other brokers (FYI- looking at more than 2-3 brokers in less than a week will not further harm your credit score). I got the impression that he's sloppy, unknowledgeable, dishonest, lazy, and indifferent, which looks to comport with the experience others have had with him. Not willing to trust or work with someone like that who's responsible for hundreds of thousands of dollars of my money. read more
