The vibes/ambiance are totally on point. I was lucky enough to get a parking spot right out front, which can definitely be tricky on Ingersoll. Luckily it's right by the closed Office Depot or whatever, so there's that whole lot, too. I had read a lot that they were cash only, but now that it's 2026 I guess they take card, which is nice. 3 stars only cause the bartender was nice & quick, but there was only 1 other patron inside. This is definitely your "ol school" dive bar, the minute you walk in there was a smell to the place (wasn't pleasant) more of that old pleather/dirty floor smell. There was a pinball machine, pool table and jukebox inside. This place had that "local" dive bar spot feel to it. Drink was fairly cheap $5, we had the bartender make us her favorite drink which was a watermelon shot and it was tasty. Great little neiborhood bar on Ingersol that has been there for over 30 years! Good spot to pop in for a quick brew! The drinks are cheap and the decor makes you feel like you taking a time trip back to the 80's! Last time I was here, some guys from Chicago (former Drake students) stopped in to relive a little of that college drinking magic, that they left behind at the Alpine! The staff here is great, but are not going to go out of their way, to accommodate a group of dudes from Chicago, who are being kinda rude, but if you are nice to them they will treat you like the cheap beer king that sits upon the mountain that is the Alpine! The Alpine is one of my favorite dive bars. A nice stop for cheap pitchers, pouring way too much money into the jukebox, or catching a game. The staff is pretty great (attentive and witty) and the Alpine has managed to cultivate a very specific vibe, seldom found elsewhere in town. read more

Alpine Tap Room. Where the cold beer lives. If you feel like experiencing one of the many dives the Ingersoll area has to offer, check it out. Jimmy is awesome. The jukebox is awesome. Frank is an asshole....but he can be awesome too (in his own way). The pool table is crammed in a corner where you need to be a contortionist to make certain shots....contortionist pool is always awesome. When I think of what a dive bar should be, I think of the Alpine Tap Room. Small, dark, simple, unpretentious, but with a definite vibe of self-respect. No torn booth upholstery, graffiti or dirty bathrooms (or dirty anything, really). Blue-collar classy. A bar frozen in time. The drinks are cheap, but good (Moscow Mules are a specialty). The jukebox is arguably one of the best in town. The staff start out nice, and become more friendly over the course of many visits. Regulars are a thing at the Alpine. The only reason the Alpine doesn't earn 5 stars for me is it's recent discovery by those individuals some might refer to as "hipsters". The place loses some of its appeal when it becomes crowded and loud. But the hipsters will move on, and the Alpine with still be here when you need a beer. A word of caution: this bar is cash only. However, there is an ATM on the premises. read more

Great jukebox, cheap beers, awesome Moscow Mules. I wouldn't go here if you're terribly high maintenance, but that's why I like it. this place is now my favorite one of the fabled "ingersoll crawl" the bartender that everyone keeps talking about is awesome. he's rude in the funniest most entertaining way. I love being teased if the person is good at it! anyway i hadn't been back in a long time since i moved away but came back for Christmas and it was just as i remember. the moscow mules are amazing and I've seen all sorts of people there. solid place. read more

Went here for a few drinks with my husband. The older man working was super rude to us even though we were the only customers. I've never experienced anything like this in my life. I also never leave bad reviews but I'm totally blown away by how awful the service was. We won't be back. I'll definitely talk about how off putting and bad our experience was because honestly, its kinda funny and shocking. How do some people maintain their jobs? The world may never know haha read more

Street parking. Smallish place so get there early if it is a busy night. Bartender was friendly and poured me a pretty small gin and tonic. A pet peeve of mine is glasses that are way too small. Their glasses definitely meet this criteria. The drink was made well though. A+ barkeep. Friendly patrons. One who talked to us about the IA game even though he is a Cyc fan. Nice meeting someone that doesn't have to nag on your team just because they can. The women's restroom was not great. Someone had clogged the toilet with hand towels... who does that? Ugh, society I am losing faith in you. There was not a plunger so I took a chance and luckily did not flood the place. All in all a good experience. Be careful if you park out front. The curb is about a foot tall. Great way to bash your car door if you aren't paying attention. Thankfully there is tons of room so you don't have to park on top of the curb. Also, don't park in the bike lane. That is just rude. Cheers! read more

Avoid this place like the plague. Not sure how they stay in business. My wife and I usually like small "neighborhood" bars, but only if the bartenders are friendly like you would expect. We walk in at 10 pm on Friday night 4/18/14, and there are no more than five people total in the place. The couple we are with orders a beer and a water. The bartender, even though he was not doing anything else at the time, acts put out to even help them. My wife then goes to the bar to order shots for us. She can't handle the straight stuff, so she orders an "applesauce", a common shot these days but understandable if he did not know how to make it. She tries telling the bartender what's in it and he angrily says "we don't have that!", without recommending anything else. So she asks him to just recommend something. And he proceeds to rudely tell her "I don't know what you want!" and literally walks away from her. He didn't walk away to do other work mind you, but to just stand on the other end of the bar with his arms crossed, looking the other way as if we were just done with our order. So I chime in and said "excuse me, we have an order and you are ignoring us". So he immediately blows his lid and yells at the top of his lungs at me telling me "he was NOT ignoring us". So I tell him he's the rudest bartender I have ever seen and he proceeds to shout me down. At this point I told him he was a loser, which he was (think 50 year old with a mullet and zero interpersonal skills). I start walking for the rear exit because no way were we spending any money there....and he comes around the bar and gets in my face yelling at me telling me to get out (as if I was going to stay anyway). He was acting in a threatening manner so I asked him if he was going to try to get physical with me. I found myself hoping he would so I had an excuse...The ONLY thing that kept me from pounding this worm into the ground is that I know the bartender will always be on the right side of the law if the police are called. Even though he instigated everything. So I walked out and we exchanged words. He used a homophobic slur at me, so I said "nice mullet" on my way out the door. He insulted my wife and me numerous times. We are still scratching our heads at why he was so rude to us. We guessed that maybe we were dressed too nicely (I had a golf shirt on, my wife had on a nice blouse). It literally felt like he profiled us as being yuppies and immediately hated on us as a result. That old act is really weak. This place is unfriendly, dank and dirty, has very limited selection, and has no atmosphere whatsoever. It gets zero stars and I have no idea why a person would go here when you have Wellmans, the Yacht Club, and Star Bar within a few blocks. read more
