Very disappointing experience with Alpine. They caused thousands of $ in damage to garden beds and lawn. Additionally they did not cut stumps to ground level and left jagged edges. Originally, I had written an unpleasant, one-star review for Alpine. However, I was shocked that a business cared enough about their integrity to reach out and attempt to remedy our concerns. I spoke with Joe, whom I presume was the owner, and he was a perfect gentleman. Part of my initial problem stemmed actually from a disconnect with our neighbor, while the other part he acknowledged and pledged to address. It's enough for me that a company values their reputation and seeks to make it right when necessary. If nothing else, this is a reason to trust the quality of Alpine and to rely on their services. The owner demonstrated both integrity and honesty when he suggested I wait to remove the trees till they pose a safety threat. He went on to educate me about how the disease progresses, and what signs to look for when determining need for tree removal. I appreciate that he didn't employ scare tactics to get the tree job. I had a frustrating experience and would not recommend Alpine. The agreement was for a large oak tree - to thin out the tree, remove low hanging branches to raise the canopy, crown clean/prune out dead branches, and prune away from the house. I had chosen Alpine because the other tree company we work with couldn't trim the side of the tree near cable wires and Alpine said that they could. There must have been a misunderstanding with the crew (Bill was not present when the work was done), as they only completed work on the section of our tree facing the house (half the tree). When I reached out to say that thinning the tree/raising the canopy/crown clean was for the whole tree, they said they would only come back to complete the work for more money. read more

Cutting down a dead tree is expensive. It adds no value to the property, it provides no safety, but it is necessary, especially if it should fall and cause damage. And so I proceeded to get my multiple bids. They would each come and look around, tell me how much work it would be, and try to legitimize how much it would cost. Only Bill seemed to take a more expansive look at my property and surrounding area; he saw an opportunity to lower my cost. He was the only one that saw a neighbor's tree, also dead, and suggest that reaching out to the other homeowner would provide some cost efficiency to both of us. Actually about $1000 less for each if both jobs were done together. My neighbor saw the same savings and agreed to hire Alpine with me. As to the cutting down and removal of both trees, Bill's team did a nice job. And while the job did seem to take hours upon hours, the final result was a tree removed and all wood taken away. Just as promised. No other tree service saw this opportunity to provide both a great price and a bigger job. I and my bank account are grateful. Thanks Bill. read more

Had quite a few fallen limbs from this winter's storm damage ranging from thin to huge. Called and spoke to Bill. Very personable. Came over and took a close look at all of my trees to see if there were any other limbs or trees at risk. Not being a tree person, I could have been talked into taking a couple of trees down, but he gave me his honest views and only identified a couple of trees that needed further trimming. Gave me an estimate below what I expected for 2-3 hours of work and when he came out, stuck to his estimate. Called ahead to tell me when he though he would arrive and stuck to that also. I tend to be very picky and don't hesitate to call people out when they aren't what/who they claim, but Alpine are very professional and a real pleasure to do business with. We had some major tree work done on one of our big black walnut trees and Alpine was absolutely wonderful. It was impossible to get a bucket in where the trees had to be trimmed and without any issues they climbed and cut everything. When they completed the job they cleaned up so well that there wasn't any indication work had been done. They cleaned up everything including all the walnuts in the area. In addition, they even blew out the leaves in my garage and took them away. They were very friendly and very efficient. Equally important, they were not expensive. Was expecting a professional outfit. The foreman was very angry most of the day. Yelling at his help and had no regard for there saftey or his. They also left a mess of debris from the job and cigarette butts all over my property. Would not recommend using this outfit. read more

On July 17, 2016, Bill from Alpine Tree, came to my house in Rockaway Township and gave me an estimate on tree work. I emailed him that the estimate he submitted via email was fine, and he said he would contact me soon with a date to do the work (which was minimal). Several weeks went by with no word from Bill. I called him. He got back to me several days later and set a date. The date came, and Bill did not show up. I called him, and he said that some of his men had not shown up that day for work and he wouldn't be able to come (did he ever think to call me to let me know he wasn't coming? NO). There were 3 more attempts by me to get a date from Bill to come and do the work. EACH of those 3 dates that Bill said he would do the work he never showed up. AGAIN, he didn't have the decency to contact me and let me know he wasn't coming. When I contacted him, he always had some vague excuse.
