They talked me into not cutting down a Maple that was near the house and were able to trim the branches that were leaning up against the house. They also trimmed another Maple in the back of the yard and cut the neighbor's Oak branches that were topping my Maple. They also cleared all the dead branches from both trees. While owner (?) John Lang lived up to the company's name & was professional, it was amateur hour with his office staff. "Natasha" refused to share details about the company's employees' communications skills, etc., during a conversation about the horror stories I read about unqualified folks working for Asplundh & other tree service companies. Some of the stories detailed individuals getting electrocuted and injured because they were not properly trained on how to remove branches/trees near power lines, etc. This information is in the public domain, so I was surprised that "Natasha" was so defensive when I inquired about Friendly Tree's hiring practices (Mr. Lang was transparent about them after I shared the unprofessional -- and frankly bizarre -- conversation I had with "Natasha.") "Natasha" also refused to give me her title. Mr. Lang acknowledged my "concern over this matter that's unfortunate what you've been through." He also said that he had a conversation with "Natasha" after I complained about this less than professional interaction. It is worth noting that I spoke with at least 3 other tree services organizations and they all explained the seasonality of this industry. One company rep. even explained the nature of obtaining government contracts (like Asplundh did) and how big contracts compel companies to staff up (quickly). During my comms with company's staff, I tried to correct the misspelling of my first name on the proposal. The office claimed that there was not enough space for the last letter of my name and did not correct the document. Really? Friendly Tree's system has never generated a proposal with two first names and one last name? Hmmmmm. Direct/simple questions like "Can you share the mailing address to which I can mail Friendly a check" or "Can you confirm the name of the company that I should write the check to?" went unanswered. The interaction with Friendly's staff was a bureaucratic joke. Folks in Friendly's office make a visit to the DMV feel like a walk in the park. My interaction with "Natasha" is the latest example of dealing women who work in NJ businesses & tax-payer-funded agencies who do not understand they are in public-facing, customer service-related positions. Women like "Natasha"; Ellen and other female staffers in Richard A. Newman's West Orange, NJ dental office (who are animals) should not be communicating with civilized prospects/clients who have valid/legitimate/relevant questions. I will also share that I have been personally attacked by sick/crazy women with questionable intellect for No Reason. These women have no issues with bullying/harassing/passive-aggressive/not-so-passive aggressive actions towards me, yet act defensive and lie when they are caught conducting themselves like animals with the brain the size of a peppercorn. These women have inferiority complexes and project their insecurities on to others like me. They slander people to others because they are cowards and liars. Over & over again I have been harassed by women (mostly white older women) who are insecure about themselves and take out their frustrations on this small Asian woman. Crazy, but true. I have had to file police reports in Cedar Grove, Verona & West Orange NJ after these crazy white women harassed me. This crazy behavior started over 10 years ago and can be attributed to Bev Corwin and Kelly Santalucia -- two very sad women. These crazy animals spread lies that I'm a Trump supporter & anti-Italian (my parents are/were Italian) --- lies that anyone with half a brain would know are crazy. Please be warned about these women -- they are liars who are desperate and intellectually-challenged & seriously disturbed. If you are less than 300 lbs they will hate you. Apologies for this long-winded review, but I feel that I need to share recommendations to these women to: Be a change agent. Instead of polluting the world with your hate/lies, run for office, work with your local elected official to draft/change policies. Review your jail-worthy actions/behavior. Do you want your kids and grandkids to know what a horrible role model you are? Do you want your daughter to treat women like you treat them? Beautify the world. Despite great online reviews and a good initial experience, we will not be using or recommending Friendly Tree to anyone. We had them come out in April 2025 to diagnose the health of a few large trees and one smaller tree on our property. They recommended pruning the larger trees and replacing the smaller one and offered a quote slightly below those we received elsewhere. While the initial pruning and planting went well, we experienced extremely poor support and communication afterward. The new tree they planted was an 8-foot redbud. They planted the tree in May and, despite following their meticulous instructions, I called in July to let them know that the tree seemed dead. They sent their arborist out to check on it and confirmed it looked dead but encouraged me to continue watering it on schedule, which I did. I proactively reached back out in September to ask them to check on the tree again. They came back out and confirmed it was dead. They replaced the tree shortly thereafter and wrote me to confirm that it looked healthy in mid-October and that I should continue the watering schedule I had been adhering to until the first deep freeze, which I did. As Spring of 2026 has come around, the replacement tree looked dead again and I reached out in late March to ask them to take a look at it. That is when they informed me that they had been out in January and the tree had died over the winter. I had received no prior information about them checking on the new tree or the fact it was dead. They said there was no survival guarantee on replacement trees and that I was basically out the $930 I paid and was stuck with a second dead tree to deal with on my own. A few days later, the arborist for the company reached out and asked if he could call me the following day. I gave him a time and my number and he agreed to call me. He never did. The following week, he texted back to ask to reschedule the call, which we did. He never called me at the rescheduled time, either. I have since texted and emailed him multiple times to ask how to work out the issue and have received silence in return. Essentially, I now have to find a different, more reputable service to pay another nearly one thousand dollars to correct the incompetence and extremely poor customer service of Friendly Tree. read more

They gave me full info on short term and long term options, including pricing and future expectations; and they proceeded according to my decision to retain the tree . TLDR: I had a disappointing experience with Friendly Tree and would not give them my business again. Friendly Tree had me on their schedule for Friday 9/5 from 2-4pm. I arranged my schedule to be home and pay when the work was completed. At 3:30, nobody had showed up or called with an ETA. I called the office, and the agent could only tell me they'd contact the crew. 4:00 rolled by without a phone call. Then 4:30, 5:00, 5:30. ZERO communication about why a crew didn't come. At 6:00pm, I finally heard from the company with what felt like a half-hearted apology and no attempt to rectify the situation except promising the first appointment on Monday. John, the rep, never acknowledged our request for a discount. Never made an offer of a discount for future work. Never asked if there was some other light pruning they could do. He also aid, "I will stop in with the crew to assure we are accomplishing the goal and then some." He never showed, never emailed, never called. Tree Replacement gone bad. I hired Friendly Tree Service for 10 tree replacements at my townhouse. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and their service completely unprofessional. I was flexible with the service timeframe and never expected John to ignore me when issues arose with the plantings. When I noticed a problem, I immediately called John and the office and they came out to investigate and indicated that they provided customer responsibilities for maintenance, but I was never given any specific written instructions at the time of installation, nor when the problem was identified. John and Friendly Tree Service said they would follow up but never did. They acknowledged the issue with the installation; there was no real follow-through. Multiple conversations took place with John and Friendly Tree Service where we verbally agreed on sharing responsibility. However, communication stopped altogether--they stopped returning my calls and failed to do anything at all to rectify the situation. I value reliability and accountability with any service provider, and unfortunately, this company demonstrated neither. It's easy to get 5-star ratings when things go well, but the real test of good service is in resolving issues. Friendly Tee Service failed miserably in this regard. We went with Friendly Tree Service because of their knowledgeable response and their understanding about the arboreal world, which they were patient enough to explain thoroughly. Not being an arborist myself (I can pretty much recognize "tree" and "branch," though), I really appreciated the depth of knowledge they brought to the job and the professional manner in which they broke down the estimate. It was a half-day job, and they were efficient and considerate with our yard and lawn furnishings.
