Joe is pleasant enough and competent but this is one of the most mercenary businesses I have done business with. Just to make a diagnostic appointment, it is necessary to pre-pay $112.00. After payment is received then they will make an appointment for a service call. Then you discover they added $25.00 fee on to your pre-payment for using a credit card. After a 15 minute service call, we were advised parts would need to be ordered. Must wait while they research part availability and cost. Then we received a text messsge advising the amount of the parts, the shipping and the tax. Again, payment must be made prior to the order for the parts and you will find another $25.00 charge for using a credit card. We waited over 2 weeks until we were advised that the parts had arrived so then another service call appointment had to be made. After the parts were installed we were advised the parts had a one year warranty but the labor was warrantied for only 30 days. They NEVER answer their business phone. If you try to leave a message, you are advised their voice mailbox is full. We only communicated by text messages. This equated to us having a dysfunctional appliance for 3 1/2 weeks. Having the part numbers available, I researched the retail price of the parts. I learned, I could have ordered the parts myself for less than 1/2 of what I was charged. That means, Joe buys the parts at wholesale price, then doubles the retail price, adds his credit card use fee, plus shipping and then adds tax for Trinidad. Never mind I live outside the city limits and do not receive Trinidad services, yet I was charged Trinidad sales tax. Unfortunately I no longer have the dexterity or strength to do-it-myself. For future reference, should I need appliance services in the future, I will seek service from Raton New Mexico or Pueblo Colorado even though it will probably mean additional travel distance fees. If you need appliance repair in Trinidad, I do feel sorry for you - you are going to pay. I am satisfied with the performance of the appliance post repair.

When you go looking around for something, you never have to worry about finding it because there are people seemingly at every aisle to help. What's more, they ALL seem to be super-knowledgeable! He's been there for years, but even after not coming by for longgg stretch (we were out of town for much of the COVID-19 Pandemic) when my wife and I returned, he knew us exactly, remembered all our paint choices and helped us in every way possible. The selection in the store is just big enough to find what you need, but their online service provides what seems like a limitless selection. Prices are comparable to other stores. It has been my personal experience that the store owners and managers will ignore, harass, refuse service, or call the police on individuals who are white, who are community activists/are known to be working to engender positive change in the community, or who complain either about the store's poor operations, management and quality control or about the store's discriminatory practices to Ace Hardware's national customer relations. I further believe that I am treated differently because, by my observation, I am "not their friend", I don't "look like them", or I am "new" or "not from around here". National Ace has done nothing to address or correct these problems or practices, which can only serve to damage Ace's heretofore good reputation as "helpful hardware folks".. All people of good conscience should demand that Ace treat all customers equally, with respect and dignity befitting its espoused, but poorly implemented, principles.

Second the clueless electrician spent the first hour (their minimum billing time) wondering all over my home checking every outlet trying to find some mysterious GFI that just had to be the issue. Eventually he leaves (to pick up another electrician who knows what he is doing to some extent as well as a suitable ladder). The other electrician fixes the outlet and they poorly hang the fixture before being asked to leave after another hour as to not a waste anymore time or money. $160 for one hour of actual work. Never ever again will I do business with this company and recommend others not to as well.
