This garage has always done a great job for me. Most recently my car was overheating badly, and they managed to diagnose it, and fix it in one afternoon even though they were fully booked up. This place is a scam! First off charged my friend two days of being without her car and $149 for a hose clamp! She was told they couldn't find the problem but turned off the check engine light...WOW!! On top of that, they do interlocks and I helped someone load their car on a trailer and haul it down to have the interlock coded because they were locked out and didn't make it in time (paid in time/but car has to be recoded)...so we called because on my maps it showed we would arrive at 401. We called and Al said 4 pm no exceptions. Ok, so I pick up speed and got wobbly, about lost my truck and trailer with the car-showed up at 359, he walked in the door at 4pm and was denied...WOW!! Two seconds to recode car and they refuse, saying 4 pm is cutoff, well it's 4pm and I'm standing here now (at the point it was 402 because he came out and said that two people ahead of him, and than he walked back in and walked out and said they said come back tomorrow). So 4 pm is not the cutoff, maybe 359!! If this was the case I would've turned around at 358 instead of continuing another 300 feet!! /utterly ridiculous!! On top of all of that, they have shorted the car out 4 times in 10 months-charging $85 each time this happens, on top of the monthly $87 fee...so scam artists!! Yes!!! Good business, NO!! I usually brush stuff off but the receptionist was exceptionally RUDE and argued with me saying it was after 4 pm, well maybe the second time he walked in. Either way, you see someone there on time, who had to go to great lengths bringing a car on a car trailer and so RUDE. This is not the way to conduct business and I'll be honest, I know someone who does this for a living and I called and asked him who was the cheapest to go to-he told me Al's, but he also said, he was a snake...Wow, now I know what he means. I knew after the first two "shorts" to charge and extra $85!! To do this to people that are already struggling with court fees, probation costs and you know they're not doing great in life if they're dealing with a DWI/DUI. Pay the extra $10 and go to a different interlock place-also as a mechanic -I wouldn't bring a lawn mower to them, they can't even figure out how to fix an air flow sensor when the check engine light told them exactly what the problem was!! This place used l, used oil when they replaced a water pump on our ford explore. They had to drain the oil when taking off the water pump and put the used oil back into the car. Then they did not know how to time the car and backfired it! With all this the turbo was blown causing the engine to go out. A water pump replacement from these guys has cost us more than just what they charged us! We have had to replace the motor and borrow/rent vehicles to be able to get to and from work. They are not a place to take your vehicle. read more

I'm sure Al himself is one of the best mechanics out there but he does not do any of the work at his shop. A young girl runs the place, I asked for a print out of the work they had done on my car over the past couple years and she said they don't have a computer to do that but she could write it all down for me from her memory. So what she told me is she has every vehicle that comes through that shop, your name, phone number, every part, the mileage , the dates brought in and out, the cost of labor and parts and the amount you paid and how it was paid in the last few years all memorized and she just has to find the time to write it all down for you. Needless to say I've never gotten that from her. That's one heck of a memory she should be in the Guinness world book of records. read more

First time around took a week for parts, then three more days for actual repair. Still, they seemed professional and knowledgeable. Second time around asked them to check on squeeking brake and was told needed new rear pads and front and rear rotors. Took it to Big O and they actually showed us that the pads were new. Awful customer service!! Very disorganized and unprofessional!! I dropped my vehicle off two days prior for an air conditioning leak. The girl who was working in the front office, only asked for my phone number and what the problem was. Didn't ask for any vehicle information, or my name or any other contact info. She then tried to tell me what I had done wrong with my vehicle. I was already aware of what was wrong and only needed the problem fixed. That should have been my first clue. She then advised me that she had no idea when my vehicle would get into the garage or when I would be able to get it back. I called twice the next day. The first time we spoke, she stated that she would call me back within the next 30 minutes. TWO HOURS LATER I called again, having not heard from her, to ask for the estimate. She gave me several excuses as to why she didn't call and gave me my estimate. I stated that the timeframe wasn't going to work for me and I was coming to get my vehicle. She told me they were "technically closed" and she couldn't wait the 15 minutes for me to come pick up my vehicle. I only have the one vehicle and now have to wait due to her incompetence. Will definitely be sharing with friends and colleagues to never go there due to incompetence, lack of customer service and no visible management structure. read more

Absolutely fantastic! On a recent road trip, my boyfriend and I had car troubles that required immediate attention. Being from IL, we knew nothing about the area and AAA was not any help. We were especially concerned because we have a foreign car and very few places in the area seemed to service them. We found one guy, but he couldn't get us in the same day and referred us to Al. Thank goodness! Al and his team were accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and their work space is the cleanest garage I have ever seen! Not only were we in and out in a flash, but Al took the time to talk to us about the problem with our car, showed us the broken part, explained what he did and what else he saw in there, gave us a fix that we were confident would get us through the rest of our trip and back home safely, AND sent us home with a list of what he checked and what our regular mechanic should follow-up on. Al even offered to talk to our regular mechanic about what he did in case he had any questions. On top of all of that, we got some great hiking advice from one of the guys there. When the car first broke down, my boyfriend and I were imagining worst case scenarios of being stuck there for days and missing the rest of our vacation while parts were ordered, etc. Al's Service managed to turn that completely around and had us gushing for the rest of the trip about what a positive experience it had been. I went here previously and had an OK experience getting my breaks checked and back break pads replaced. There were young people working in here and seemed pretty honest. Because of my first experience I decided to take my car back here for an oil change and tire rotation and because my check engine light was on. This time I dealt with AL himself. I will never go back. This place charged me $250 to change my oil, rotate my tires and run a diagnostic test. Told me if he replaced the sensor that was out it would be close to $600 (for a part after researching would cost me $70). I couldn't believe the price when I was informed for the simple services I had completed. I was in shock. The tire rotation itself cost $60. This place is a complete rip off. Find a different repair shop! The owner is a creepy man who likes to rip off people. I will never go back. read more

My friend and I were passing through on the way to Utah and having some car trouble around 9pm. We ended up staying in a motel, hoping to get what we needed fixed as early as possible the next day. All the other shops opened at 8am, but Al's said 6am which is what drew us to him. I called at 6:05am and sure enough Al himself picked up. My diesel Ford E350 had lost power on three different occasions. Two dealers and an independent garage had tried to fix it and failed (I spent over $2000). Al accepted my problem and had found the solution by the end of the first day at his garage. He had to remove the fuel tank and fix a broken pick up tube inside. I dropped my car off on Friday. I called Monday and Tuesday and he had diagnosed and found out what was wrong with my vehicle. But was unwilling to give me a quote he told me parts were $110. Finally he told me it was going to cost $288 to unlock my hood and replace battery. Had he told me in advance this was going to be the charge I would have said "no." He still did not give me a quote or estimate. Finally I called and said I need an estimate and he said $600-800 to replace $250 worth of parts at maybe 1hr-2 hours of labor. So the discrepancy here is $150 plus no estimate at the amount of time or labor. I asked what his labor rate was after he had opened the hood and replaced the battery is $128. Four States and others shops are $70. This rate is not posted be aware! I do not trust this mechanic. He will dodge your questions for estimates. I never would have had an estimate or a phone call if I did not pressure him for one. If I were you I would take your car to Four States or any other shop in town. They will provide you with a written estimate, shuttle to work, and return phone calls. If you want to pay twice the rate for sub-par and dishonest service take your vehicle here. Also he said he had the parts on order from Mercedes. I said if I see an invoice from Mercedes I will pay you what you have in them. He said he would call me in one to two days when they were in. I'll give you 3 guesses as to whether or not I received a phone call. The answer is no. I ordered the parts online at %80 of the dealer cost. This man will look you in the eye and lie to your face.
