When visitors talk about a gorgeous British countryside bed and breakfast, Alstonefield Manor is just what they're looking for. It's one of a few houses in a tiny village in the Peak District and the perfect place to stay if you want to go for a lovely pub meal at The George. That's exactly what we did. The Manor is lived in by a run by a couple who are lovely and seem to really treasure the ability to give people comfort. We were met by the lady of the house who offered us gin and tonics or coffees before showing us round the house and the gorgeous garden in which they serve afternoon tea and play croquet if the weather is nice! The bedroom was large and luxurious with a very comfortable bed but no television. The bathroom was separate but was private to us and included a really large bath. Breakfast was served at whatever time we requested and was several courses and very, very yummy. Much recommended if you fancy a trip to the Peak District or just somewhere to stop on a trip from North to South. Would totally recommend it. read more

Alstonefield Manor is a beautiful place to stay, set in stunningly beautiful countryside. It's like arriving to something out of a picture book! The village is quaint, the locals friendly, and when you arrive at the Manor, Jo and Robert offer the best welcome you could ask for, with freshly baked goodies and freshly made pots of tea, brought out into their beautiful garden overlooking the countryside. What better welcome could you ask for after a long journey?! We stayed in the Estate Rooms, and were pleasantly surprised by the tastefully furnished Boston style decor. We had a very enjoyable, comfortable stay, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alstonefield Manor to anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing stay in an idyllic setting. This is a fantastic location from which to explore the stunningly beautiful Peak District. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a stay here whatever your pleasures may be! If excellent cuisine is what you enjoy, a short walk to The George pub in the village is well worth a visit. We had a fabulous meal that we couldn't fault, and once again recommend it highly. In fact, we enjoyed both our meal, and our break in Alstonefield so much that we're going for a repeat visit to both the Manor, and to The George for a celebratory visit very soon, and can't wait to introduce both to my parents, who I'm sure are going to love the experience! read more
