DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. They charged us $9,000 for rodent remediation. 2 years later we still have rodent poop in our attic. They were supposed to be here today between 1 and 5pm. Heard nothing from them so at 4:55 I called them. They said he's running late and will be here between 5:30 and 6. A call from them would have been a nice touch. My father had an inspection of his attic from an Alta inspector and he had the nerve to quote us $10,000 to clean up dryer lint, old rodent feces, and stated he must put in all new insulation. I had someone out the same day to fix the dryer vent, clean up the mess and check for rodents and it cost $150. No insulation needed. This is an example of a con trying to take advantage of a senior citizen. read more

Fair warning, if you refuse to continue a contract with this company, they will send your account I to collections. I hadn't even received a notice to pay the last month's service, but boy did I receive a notice from a collections agency fairly quickly. In all of my 40 years of living, I've never dealt with a collections agency. As a person who is pretty stern about their perfect credit score, this infuriated me. That's a very aggressive practice to seen an account into collections two weeks after non-payment. The service was not great. I can knock down my own cobwebs. I will never sign a contract with them again. Th last payment was handled through immediate collections and I've gotten non-stop messages and calls wanting to discuss the bad review I left. Alta charged me $500 for ONE treatment and their sales guy misled me. I hope this saves you some money. Here is what the salesman intentionally misled me about: - He said I would get monthly treatments. - He said I could skip when I needed to. Nope. Alta treated my house one time. When they called the next month I asked them to skip September. They said okay but DID NOT SAY I WOULD STILL BE CHARGED $79.99. A few days later I saw the charge come through. I was confused because they had confirmed we would skip September. When I called in to tell them they had wrongfully charged me for a service not provided, they told me that all I had deferred was the mosquito treatment and that the GENERAL PEST CONTROL IS ONLY PROVIDED ONCE PER QUARTER! Stay with me here: The salesman told me they treated monthly ("twice as much as Romex" which does bi-monthly), and the customer service rep did not explain this when I asked to "skip September." They refused to let me skip September's payment because THEY PROVIDE QUARTERLY TREATMENT BUT BREAK IT DOWN INTO MONTHLY PAYMENTS. So if you "skip" you aren't really skipping anything! You still pay monthly! BUT THEY DO NOT PROVIDE GENERAL PEST CONTROL TREATMENTS MONTHLY!! Do you see how misleading this is? The salesman sold it as a monthly pest control service. He literally told me they treat every month and that mosquito fogging is included. IT IS NOT. The mosquito fogging is free and you can defer it. BUT YOU CANNOT DEFER YOUR MONTHLY PAYMENTS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT PROVIDE MONTHLY GENERAL PEST CONTROL. Long story short, I paid $200 for the first treatment and $300 to cancel. So I paid $500 for one treatment, all because they would not let me skip one month and I was so alienated by the lies the salesman told me vs what the company policy is that I just wanted out. I signed up with Alta Pest Control this spring hoping to have a mosquito- and spider-free summer. Unfortunately that did not happen. Problems: * Despite multiple treatments for mosquitoes, I still had heavy mosquito activity all summer. I ended up switching to another company (Mosquito Joe) in September and they cleared the mosquitoes on their first spray. * I also paid for interior spider treatments, yet kept seeing spiders regularly. * When I signed up the salesperson knocked on my door and presented a "special" offer. There was no clear mention of any cancellation fee or requirement to stay for a set term. Later I was told there was a large discount applied that would become a balance if I cancelled. * Scheduling a service is difficult: there's no online portal to request visits or track your service -- you have to call. That feels outdated. Bottom line: I did not feel I got what was promised. I would caution others to read the contract carefully, ask about cancellation/termination-fees, and ask how effective the mosquito/spider treatments have been for other customers. Recommendation: If you're looking for reliable mosquito control and an easy scheduling system, you may want to compare other companies. read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. The salesman sells you on a monthly service at $110 a month. As soon as they lock you into a contract with a $500 cancelation fee they start coming out every 3 months. That's $330 a visit because they charge you monthly. You can call and talk to them about this but they argue and tell you that's just the way it is. Call the BBB and they all the sudden want to honor the original agreement. Alta sale people may be visiting in your neighborhood, as they did ours last week. We chose to break a contract with another company and sign with them. It's only four days later, and I regret that decision. Since signing the contract, here's what we've experienced with sales/technical personnel in Tulsa, and other company representatives: 1. Wednesday evening: Alta was described to us as a "family-owned business" run by three brothers in San Antonio . . . with an office here in Tulsa. Sales person asked several questions aimed at eliciting negative comments about current exterminator. I said I wanted to focus not on the current problems but on the policies/procedures of his company. Specifically, I wanted to know about communication . . . because (I kept to myself) we were having trouble getting on the schedule of the current exterminator. Sales person told us Alta has a policy of re-scheduling (when necessary) within a guaranteed 48hr window. He talked about calling "my girls in the office" -- located, he said, about 8 min from our house in midtown Tulsa -- who could help him "make it happen." He likes to communicate with customers by text, even between houses on his sales calls, so he can be responsive . . . he said. TERMS OF OUR AGREEMENT, in case this is useful to anyone: We ultimately signed an 18-month contract for service including treatments primarily focused outdoor, with an initial treatment in the house/garage and quarterly visits for outdoor spraying and -- if requested -- inside treatments. A start-up fee was waived because we signed the 18-month contract. This start-up fee would be due if we break the contract before it expires. Today (following Monday), while attempting to reschedule service from the weekend (see below), I learned that the only Alta facility in Tulsa is a warehouse, staffed by salespeople (person?), and technicians. The "route service managers" and front line phone support are working at regional service centers. Lawrence, and Emily in Rexburg, ID, were very helpful and did what they could to make things right. 2. Thursday: about 10:45am, I rec'd a 15-min notice to expect a technician for initial visit (only sent to me, not my wife AND I per salesman's pitch). . . . no one was home (this was our fault -- miscommunication between spouses). Bryson, the exterminator, called me when he got to the house . . . he was GREAT! We worked out a plan to spray the yard for mosquitoes (biggest issue) and reschedule for the indoor/garage initial treatment. He said he would make a note that the second visit would be required; he also told me to call in to reschedule to make sure this happened. I called at 1:45pm, and requested a new appointment for the next day. Lawrence in the service center was very clear on this point: Alta CANNOT and DOES NOT guarantee a window for scheduling ANY of their service calls. L did however work with someone to honor that window, adding us to the end of the Saturday route ("around 5pm") for Part 2 of the initial service. I asked for a text message one hour in advance . . . to allow us to leave the house with our dogs who need to be off-site during the in-house/garage spraying. He agreed, and read back to me the order for an initial spray of house/garage with text one hour in advance. 3. Saturday: We received a text saying the tech would arrive in 15 min. When he arrived, he said he was there to treat the garage. My wife told him we scheduled for house/garage. Tech responded that Alta does not spray inside houses, so he would only spray the garage. His tone of voice and facial expressions suggested that we were the ones who did not know the terms of the service contract we signed. Wife responded that if this was the case, we did not want only garage service and he could leave. I was told by the service center that tech's notes from this visit read "Customer declined service." 4. Monday: I called to reschedule the in-house/garage portion of the initial spraying. Emily told me that Alta attempts to schedule the initial visit soon after the contract is signed; going forward, we should allow two weeks after a treatment before requesting a re-spray (requirements for the chemicals), and there's no guarantee about how quickly a service call can be scheduled. In my mind, this was part two of the initial visit -- which was not yet complete. While no one with Alta said this to me explicitly, I now understand that it is likely that Thursday's outdoor spraying was the completed (from their perspective) initial visit. The rescheduled house/garage service call will be on Friday . . . nine days after the contract was signed. We have been given a window of 4 hours during which we can expect the technician, and 30 min notice via text; the dogs and I will be ready to go with 15 min notice. read more

Getting this company to give a schedule is next to impossible. I asked for two days notice of a technician coming so we could make arrangements for our dog and was told they put a note in my account so that would happen. We were supposed to receive service in July but they didn't show. I do not blame the technician, they have always been nice and friendly, but the customer service SUCKS. I wish I had been more of top of this because we paid a monthly amount and have basically been giving them money for nothing for. I have requested to close my account and receive a refund. I was approached by an Alta pest control salesman in my yard. I have a sign on my door that said absolutely no solicitation by salesman. I told him I wasn't interested. I have pest control with an excellent company already. the man kept coming back over the course of a week when I walked out my door and ringing my doorbell day and late at night which I didn't answer. He kept harassing me and finally told me for $ 50 he would spray my yard every day if need be for all of the bugs inside and outside for $50 per month for 18 months which was much cheaper than my current plan so I agreed to try it. Every time he came the price got cheaper. They had no contract but had me watch a short video the first treatment was a discount on the $500 normal rate. That was the red flag but the plan was so great I signed up anyway. Mind you I'm elderly person on low medicare check but after 2 months of rain the bugs and mosquitoes were Extreme. Heard The story' We are a small family business.' Never saw a contract. I received a treatment. Don't know how much they charged yet because their website doesn't work. The spray did work for 3 days. But thier turned out to be a New major national company that had just changed their name. Red flag number #2. I called up for a respray and was told they could do it in a month. I said "That would be the next service date" then over course of minutes I found out the truth. The plan I was told I had bought was a complete fabrication. I was sent the contract for the first time. I was to be billed every month for 2 plans, a four times a year indoor bug treatment plan and an outdoor every 45 day outside plan. I complained I never heard of these plans, I was sold something completely made up and this is Fraud. Then I was sent to various managers and told I couldn't cancel without paying $500 and they were so sorry I heard the salesman incorrectly but they understood how hearing all of that information could be confusing and hard to understand and blah blah blah. I explained I'm not an idiot, I know what was discussed and they committed fraud. THEY ARE A COMPLETE FRAUD AND DON'T SIGN UP WITH THEM!!!!!!! Their salesman flat out lied to me. If your income is from Medicare they can not get a penny out of you. I eventually got them talked down to a Minimal payout but I am furious I had to pay anything to them when they committed Frau, lied about everything and expected me to pay them $500. I had a highly disappointing experience with Alta Pest Control, from the door-to-door salesman, to the service provided, and the customer service afterward. It started with the salesperson who came to my door, which is usually a red flag in itself. He quoted me $65 for the service and promised to fog the entire yard to push the bugs out, spray chemicals around the house, spread granules to remove pests, and use a dewebbing tool to get rid of cobwebs. He also said the $65 would cover mice bait blocks and removal. When I told him I couldn't afford $65 right now due to tight finances, he smooth-talked me into paying $49 instead and promised they would be out the same day. That's where things went from bad to worse. When the technicians arrived, they seemed decent enough, but that quickly changed. I watched them work and realized it was not at all what I was promised. One of them started by removing cobwebs with a broom -- something I could have easily done myself. Then, they sprayed a small amount of chemical just at the base of the house. I walked outside, and the chemical was already dry; it didn't look like anything had been sprayed at all. Next came the "fogging," which turned out to be a leaf blower blowing out some white dust that was barely visible. They sprayed the fence and bushes, but certainly not the whole yard as promised. As for the granules, they used a small hand spreader and only put down a minimal amount -- nowhere near enough for a quarter-acre yard. The entire visit lasted less than 20 minutes, which was not even close to the thorough service I was sold on. I voiced my dissatisfaction and was told they could come back out, but that, by law, they can only come once every two weeks. This was never mentioned by the salesperson. When I asked to cancel my contract, I was told I'd have to pay $101 to close the account because of the chemicals they allegedly used -- chemicals that certainly weren't worth $101 based on what I witnessed. The representative on the phone agreed that the technicians weren't out long enough and that this wasn't how they usually operate, but it didn't help the situation. After paying $150 for subpar service and poor customer support, I'm still dealing with bugs. This company has not delivered on any of its promises, and I feel completely misled. I wouldn't recommend Alta Pest Control to anyone. They seem more interested in getting your money than actually solving your pest problems. Stay far away. read more

One of their salesmen hit my neighborhood yesterday. A neighbor complained that he knocked and rang his doorbell relentlessly while there were two babies sleeping in the house. He came to our house and saw our no soliciting sign and muttered "makes me want to knock more" as he looks directly to our camera and continues cussing us out as he walks back down the driveway. Alta Pest Control/ prior was Ardent Pest Control.. if I could give them one or less stars, I would.. they charge $40 a month claiming they will come out every three months or unless they're called.. however trying to get them to come out even to do the three month service is almost impossible.. they charged me for four months and never came.. when I called they told me they would refund my $160.. I didn't get the refund.. I called back. They research their records and said there was a problem with billing and they would contact them and refund me my $160... this has been since February.. it is now almost the middle of April.. I called my credit card company to see if they refunded the money yet.. they have not. So now I have to call them a third time to get them to refund my $160 that they promised to refund it back in March... do not go with this company read more

We used to use Ardent, but they got bought out by Alta earlier this year. To make a long story short, they overcharged us and refused to refund me the difference even though the supervisor admitted to seeing the discrepancy. Every rep keep telling me something different on why they charged us $80 on 9/06, even though they just charged us $45 on 08/23. At first, they only admitted to overcharging me $20, but after doing my own research it was $40. They tried convincing me it was for different reasons. I had proof we were up to date on all payments. They claimed that I agreed to be charged after I received my service but I NEVER asked for that. The rep offered me a lower rate when I called since I had been a member so long. I disclosed that I wasn't looking for any compensation but trying to understand why I was being charged monthly but nobody was coming out for a service, but I appreciated it. I NEVER agreed to being charged the full amount at service. Save yourself the headache and find a different pest control company. read more

This company illicited a two year contract from me under false pretenses. I told them I do not want a contract. They told me they will do "pay as you go" and required me to sign a form allowing them to enter my house. One time they billed me for a visit when no one was even home to let them in. n't a contract. They came out to my house three times without scheduling with me at all. I didn't even know they were coming until I got home and had a note From them that they sprayed my house. My elderly Mother let them in, assuming I had scheduled it. I have dogs and told them I want to be home when they come. But this was ignored. Then when I called to tell them I no longer need their service they refused and informed me I have a two year contract with them and it will cost me $300 to cancel it. Numerous times I have told them to cancel whatever they have with me and never come back to my house. I told them I will only pay for the one visit that I had approved.
