Well, while I was a bit off put; it was a relief in the end. I contacted Phipps office and had the best receptionist a person could ask for. Not only did they get me an appointment fairly quickly they were super nice in doing so. The whole office has been updated and super clean. Fast forward to today and I am glad to report I got one of the best & most thorough cleaning's I've had in a long time! Kudos to the hygienist for being so detail oriented and professional. It's a laid back atmosphere while right on schedule - no drama. It may be a drive for me to get to Auburn, but worth it.

If I could leave a negative rating, I would…read more I found Sierra Family Dental on Lincoln Way in Auburn, CA through Delta Dental. I was new to the area and needed a new dentist. In December 2022 I called the listed number and got a simple recording that said "Please, leave a message". It did NOT identify the business, list hours of operation or give the address. I left a message and a day or so later someone called me back. I made an appointment and went to see them to have a loose crown recemented. The dentist Dr. Pielago seemed very competent and reglued my crown back on. On March 2nd, 2023 I went in and had a cleaning, and Dr. Pielago filled a cavity. On Friday May 5th I had to go back in as the previous filling fell out. Dr. Pielago re-did the work. On May 9th the crown that Dr. Pielago glued on came off at dinner. The next morning, Wednesday May 10th I called the office to find out what time they open. I got the same recording that said "Please leave a message". So I drove down to the office at 0800 to discover that they are closed on Wednesday. Had that information been included in the regular outgoing message I would have saved myself a trip. So I called again and let them know I was experiencing a dental emergency. I told them I was parked out front and asked them to call me back. By 0830 I had not received a call back. So I called Delta Dental and they found a dentist in Rocklin who could take me at 1030. I called Sierra Dental to let them know, and this time I got a comprehensive outgoing message stating that they would be closed from May 10th to May 21st. This tells me that they got my first message, and instead of calling me back with information and a referral, all they did was CHANGE their outgoing message. There was no notice on their front door indicating they would be closed. Their original outgoing message did NOT mention it. Only AFTER I called and left a message asking for help did they change their outgoing recording. And WORST of all, they did not have the courtesy or professionalism to call one of their patients back, especially when they KNEW I was waiting for a call. So if you are looking for a dentist just to clean, they might be for you. But if you are looking for a dentist who actually CARES about their patients and reaches out to them in times of need, Sierra Family Dental is NOT for you.

They completed dental work that they knew would not be covered by my insurance and when I asked them to submit a new claim the said that "Dr. Young needed to send a letter to the insurance pleading on your behalf". The insurance company never received any such letter and now I am stuck with an outlandish bill for someone with dental insurance. Do not go to this company unless you want to get scammed. I will also be reporting them to the CA Dental Association and submitting a grievance to my insurance company to ensure this doesn't happen to anyone else. Very disappointing.

One of the things they did resulted in excruciating pain for a very long weekend. I ended up going back at my dentists advice and getting the root canal. They knew when I called who I was and apparently there was a difference of opinion between the two medical professionals there. I was charged for another visit (not my fault I was sent away the first time) and no apology was given for my pain or the extra day I had to take off work. Super dissatisfied with the communication after I told them how horrible I felt and how much tooth pain I had been in since they saw me.

I was impressed by three things: Preparation - I have an extremely rare and severe chronic health condition which I noted on the intake form. Prior to meeting with me, Dr. Bianchi had researched my condition enough to discuss it and to understand my concerns. That doesn't happen often. Bedside manner - I confessed I was a coward and an endodontist neophyte. Dr. Bianchi was compassionate, patient, conversational and engaging. The gentle music, the birdfeeders outside and the rest of the staff made me as at ease as I could have been. Knowledge and ability to convey it - Dr. Bianchi clearly knows dentistry and human anatomy inside and out. He was able to fully explain all aspects of my dental health in a clear and concise manner, as well as answer any questions I had. I arrived assuming my best case scenario was a root canal and a crown and my worst case scenario was losing the tooth. Neither ended up being the case and Dr. Bianchi clearly takes a conservative approach when warranted. This was a huge relief and my fears of the consultation were unnecessary. I highly recommend Dr. Bianchi and, if I ever need an endodontist again, will return.
