Their Downtown Fairhaven studio is GORGEOUS with a nice view of the waterfront. All the instructors are so kind and wonderful. They do a great job of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable for people with different skill levels. Best of all, they give you a cool, lavender towel to relax with at the end of each session. Something I've never gotten anywhere else! This studio has a convenient app to pay for and book classes. They also have a strict no show and late fees. Things to note: Finding the studio for the first time can be a bit tricky as it's inside a building with multiple office spaces. As long as you stay on the first floor of the building, go down all the way down the hall and to the left you should be able to find it.

I have been going to Bellingham Yoga Collective (BYC) for a few months now. I started with the 3…read moreweek pass for an introductory price. I took advantage and took 10 classes during this period. The space is on the 3rd floor of the recently remodeled Granary Building. There is nice bright lobby with reception desk that has been staffed I have been there. Check-in for class is pretty easy, there is an iPad on a stand where participants find their name and tap "check-in". A sign indicates what props will be needed for the class. Props are neatly stacked to the left after entering. The two bathrooms are always clean and are spacious. The yoga room is a simple hard wood space with windows to the north. I (male) have often been the only male in the class, but with the weather getting colder, the mix of participants has increased. I have enjoyed all the instructors, they are kind, helpful, and very good at leading classes. I have taken part in Gentle/Restorative, Hatha, and Vinyasa classes. The times work pretty well for me. There is usually a 7AM class, then 9:30AM, then noon. Those are the classes I have attended (my schedule has been flexible lately). Only once has my class been sold out, a Sunday AM Hatha class, 40 people fit in that room. I have had a number of teachers ask my name, that has been nice, adds a personal touch to attending classes. BYC has a lot of special events, too, I have not attended any, but it's good to know they are there when I am ready to give one a try.

My experience with Melissa has been the best of all of them. It is very easy to communicate with her what you need and want and want and she does a great job. Haleiwa is a little far for some people (myself included) but I try to make a North Shore trip out of the day and it is always worth it. The cost of the massage is very reasonable, plus as a teacher I get a discount. You don't get the frills of a fancy spa here (but I'm not sure that's worth the extra $100 anyway) but you do get an awesome massage!

I've taken yoga before, and I know that the instructors come around and help you with your pose but when the women (the instructor and some other random older woman who was walking around) came to help they weren't very helpful, they would say really general instructions and then get annoyed when I didn't do exactly what they had in mind. I signed up to relax and get some exercise, not to be made uncomfortable and self conscious.

Hood through the American Lung Association-Climb for Clean Air program. Maria is both a dietitian and personal trainer, so she has helped me identify lifestyle habits that needed some adjustments with both my nutrition and my fitness workouts. She designed an awesome program for me to keep my nutrition in check and monitor my body composition values. I've lost unneeded weight, body fat, and gained important lean muscle mass! And it has been easy. One of my goals was to lose a few pounds before my climb so she has helped me adjust my nutrition so that I can both lose the weight and train at a high level. She has provided me with sports nutrition guidance for my mountaineering and given me easy, healthy recipes, meal, and snack ideas. It's been easy to follow...and I am a single bachelor!
